April Fool’s Day 2017 – The Prankster

All sorts of shenanigans occur on and around April Fool’s Day, and this year is no different. We’ve noticed a mischievous character going by “The Prankster” around the office lately, and we think we’ve learned his plans.

The Prankster has been taking some cues from a few of our newest Mystery Munzees, so you need to be careful when you go after him. When you capture him, one of three things will happen:

  1. The Prankster Burns You – When you feel the heat of The Prankster’s jokes, it doesn’t end well. You lose five (5) points, but the burn counts towards the First-, Second-, and Third Degree Burn badges.
  2. The Prankster Freezes You – The Prankster is cold hearted, and he’ll show you that. You lose one (1) point and you get frozen for one (1) minutes, but the freeze counts towards the Frost Bite, Big Freeze, and Ice-Solated badges.
  3. The Prankster Gets Foiled – Just because you don’t lose doesn’t mean you win. You don’t lose or earn any points.

Each scenario will also earn you a badge! You can earn the Playing With Fire, Cold-Hearted, and Zilch, Zip Nada, Nothing badges for getting burned, getting frozen, and foiling The Prankster, respectively.

Details

Dates: March 31st at 00:01 MHQ time through April 9th at 23:59 MHQ time

Capture Points: -5, -1, or 0
CapOn Points: 14

Number of Pranksters on the Map: 1,741

Bounce Time: The Prankster will bounce on greenies every 6 hours or when capped

The Mystery Munzee line wasn’t the only line of munzees that The Prankster was taking cues from. He also learned something special from the Mythological Munzees. You CAN capture The Prankster on your own munzees.

Have fun!

In-Sync Exotics and Wildlife Around the World

Last Wednesday, members of MHQ headed out to In-Sync Exotics to meet our adoptive tiger, Mystery, and the other animals that they care for as part of our March Safar-Zee fundraising efforts.

The team was able to tour the facility and learn about the different types of animals that In-Sync rescues. From big cats such as tigers and lions to the occasional outliers like lemurs, In-Sync rescues animals from danger and mistreatment. They provide a safe and nurturing environment for animals in need.

We want to thank you for making this fundraiser such a success! As a reminder, you’re still able to purchase Safar-Zee Temporary Paw Print Specials from the Munzee Online Store, but only through Friday. They will remain on the map through the end of April. Don’t miss out!

We’d also like thank you for the overwhelming amount of suggestions for Wildlife Places Munzees. At 15:00 MHQ time today, the first round of Wildlife Places Munzees will be deployed!

Details:
Capture Points – 10
Capture Radius: 1,000 ft (Not Blastable)
Can be captured once per MHQ day

Like the Sports and Airport Places Munzees, we will continue to add more down the line.

Once again, thank you for your support. You are the backbone of this game and the reason we do what we do.

Featured Munzee Tookit: Helga Marten (Mieze)

One of the best parts about Munzee is that you can play how you want. Everyone goes about playing a bit differently, and that leads to some very creative and innovative uses of objects. From containers to bags to maintenance, we always encounter something new when we meet players. We want to showcase your Munzee Toolkits to see how you play the game and possibly even inspire other players who may need help. This week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes from Helga Marten (Mieze).

Who are you?
I’m Helga Marten from Germany (near Stuttgart), and my username is Mieze.

What’s in your toolkit?
The first picture is my rucksack. It holds all of my things:

Next is a box which holds all of my Munzees, sorted by type.

I also carry:

  • a pair of scissors so I can cut the munzees
  • a glove with metal parts to use my phone when it is very cold
  • a self-made extension (ruler) with a rubber band to hold my phone so as to get an “extended arm” — this was invented by Engel19; we are on the road with him quite often
  • my Personal Munzee

I also keep snacks and water with me for longer days.

Finally, I keep a powerbank with me.

If you have a Munzee Toolkit that you’d like to show off, you can email us at iloveyou@munzee.com with the subject “Munzee Toolkit”. Make sure to include:

  • Your username and where you are from.
  • A few high quality photos.
  • A list of what each item is and how you use it.
  • What made you decide to use those items.
  • Any other relevant details.

We want to see your creativity and learn how you play. Show us what you’ve got!

Tea Parties Kick Off Next Weekend!

Hello from London! It’s nearly time for tea!

The calendar is looking wonderful with more events being added by the day and we are getting ready to kick the Tea Parties off next weekend. There is still time to host an event by submitting one here: https://calendar.munzee.com/submit. Trish’s diary is very full so any art requests would have to be very simple at this stage or we won’t be able to get them done in time I’m afraid.

Most events are including the Tea Pot add on, this is $20 and awards a present to each attendee as they scan the relevant munzee (usually the event badge). Hosts please email me at louise@munzee.com if you would like to add this to your event but haven’t yet done so.

We are all looking forward to seeing your fun hats too so please feel free to come to the events in your finery! This Mad Hat badge is up for grabs for the winner at each one and the hosts will receive it too! Hosts just need to email me a picture of the winner and their Munzee username.

We are still working on new offerings available to events and should be in a position to reveal them over the next couple of weeks and even showcase one of them at an event at the end of April, details to follow….

Hosts and attendees alike should be excited to hear I have a new line of badges for you. They will start on 1st April and are for attending events, yes they are retroactive too! I brainstormed with local players whilst Down Under on these and will be interested to see how many you all have!

Finally, on a personal note, I wanted to say thank you to those that have emailed and messaged me about the sad and scary events in London yesterday. Us Londoners are brave and strong, we will drink tea and carry on!

Munzee on and stay safe everyone!

St. Patrick’s Day Weekend Wrap-Up

There was a lot going on this weekend with Flat Robs on the map, Leprechauns bouncing at an accelerated rate, and 3x points on some of our favorite green munzees. We love seeing gameplay statistics, so we decided run the numbers on this past weekend. All we can say is “wow”.

Total Capture and Deploys

As we mentioned in our social posts earlier today, Saturday was in the Top 10 Overall days of both captures and deploys. That’s not all, though. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday also all ranked in the Top 50 Overall days of captures and the Top 20 Overall days of deploys!

  • Friday:
    • 287,784 Captures (Ranked #50 Overall)
    • 16,381 Deploys (Ranked #16 Overall)
  • Saturday:
    • 509,530 Captures (Ranked #7 Overall)
    • 21,200 Deploys (Ranked #6 Overall)
  • Sunday:
    • 388,712 Captures (Ranked #20 Overall)
    • 19,080 Deploys (Ranked #11 Overall)

3x Point Munzee Captures

Seven munzee types were included in the 3x Point Weekend: Greenies, Dark Green MVMs, Light Green MVMs, Green Mystery Virtual Munzees, Green Virtual Munzees, Shamrock Munzees, and Emerald Munzees. During the weekend, there were 407,870 captures of these types including 92,787 on Friday, 165,356 on Saturday, and 149,727 on Sunday!

The Extras

We also had some extra badges for capturing Leprechauns and Greenies this weekend. You stepped up to the challenge, and 716 players earned at least the first of the three badges! There were 3,349 Leprechaun captures and 201,198 greenie captures over the weekend!

We hope you all had a great weekend, and we can’t wait for you to see what else we have coming up soon!
