Keep Cool with August 2020’s Resolution!

Around this time of year in the US, we usually can’t wait until Fall, as scorching temperatures have us wishing for cooler days. Unfortunately, it’s not quite time for Fall yet. But we can make things a bit more comfortable while exercising by preparing a comfortable environment! As we announced in our January Resolutions blog, we will be launching monthly Capture Streak Badges centered on a year of being active. Each month’s badge will be dedicated to practicing a different exercise. Similar to how our Super Streak badges operate, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. This month’s badge may be tricky to get, but we believe in you!

Each month’s badge will be themed around the particular resolution goal. For August we are featuring Aquatics! Aquatic exercises are often part of physical therapy programs for injured athletes, and are also a good choice for the elderly, as the water can greatly reduce the impact of exercises normally performed out of the water. According to this article from the American Sports College of Medicine, another benefit to aquatic exercise is that coaches or trainers can more easily see problems with a person’s movements — and thus determine if there are weaknesses that need to be addressed — by having that person perform a movement pattern in the water. This is likely due to the water forcing the body to move a much slower rate.

What are some great aquatic exercises to try?

The same article by the ACSM extols the value of aquatic exercise for ALL, not just the injured and elderly, so it’s worth it to give Aquatics a try! If you’re not sure where to start, here are our favorite suggestions from that article:

  • Punch – “For the upper cut, the hand starts from behind the hip and punches to the surface of the water with a torso rotation; the straight shot has the hand begin just beside your chest and drives directly out in front of you, under the water.”
  • High Knee – “Like playing hacky sack under water; knees driving up towards your chest, legs moving hard down towards the bottom of the pool and slightly below/behind you.”
  • Cross Country – “Move your legs in long strides like running, yet straighter but without locking your knees (this increases your hip ROM) with an opposite arm to leg motion.”

We think you could even put these together into a routine that feels like a fight scene from an action movie in a pool! What other exercises would be fun to do in the water? We’re sure there’s more than just ballet and volleyball!

Before you attempt any exercise, it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor**. Good luck and Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

** MUNZEE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY EXERCISE-RELATED INJURIES

Light Up The Room With These 20/20 Vision Munzees!

While 2020 is shaping up to be perhaps one of the worst years in recent history, that doesn’t mean life has to be all gray and boring! Especially if you have something to celebrate, like our 9th Birthday! We just have to work with what we’ve got and get a little creative — and sometimes that requires a little transformation. With its whimsical shape and candy colors, the fourteenth 20/20 Vision Munzee will definitely get you into the mood for some cake and ice cream! These flashy frames were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. Rose-colored glasses are overrated — holographic ones are much more fun!

Only seven pairs of Party Glasses will be deployed, and they will bounce to all colors of virtuals every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Magnets so be sure to stock up!

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Party Glasses will add this sparkling Seeing Stars badge to your collection! Remember, down the line we’ll be putting out an overall capture line, so don’t forget to check back for updates!

For those of you living in the US — did you get to watch any fireworks on the 4th of July? If fireworks are allowed in your city, are people still setting off fireworks in the middle of the night even though it’s well past everyone’s bedtime (not to mention that it’s also well past the 4th of July at this point)? For the rest of the world — other than New Year’s Day, are there other holidays where fireworks are traditionally set off? Do you look forward to firework shows or do they bother you? Regardless of your own opinions of fireworks, if you have any furry friends, make sure to shelter them inside your home if you know fireworks will be set off nearby! The noise can be quite shocking and stressful for them.

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique 20/20 Vision specials will launch throughout the year so keep on the lookout — you won’t want to miss out on these trendy lenses!

NEW Myth Variant Capture Badges Are Hitting The Shelves!

With the release of our first Modern Myth, Poseidon, last month, we thought it was high time to review all things myth-related. Myth Variants have been around for a while and we recently completed the set — so we wanted to highlight their striking, unique designs with these new badges!

There are 6 capture badges to earn with a comic book theme. These badges are for Myth Variant captures, so be sure to track one down whenever it’s nearby! Think you can collect each volume? We won’t spoil all of the covers, but you can check out the first badge in the line below:

HORRORS of Mythology!: Vol 1- Capture 100 Myth Variants of any type.

There are also 3 additional new badges that have been added to the Myth Collector line. You may recall that these are awarded based on overall myth captures. As a reminder, you can see the first of this badge line below:

Myth Trapper – Capture 1,000 Mythological Munzees of any type.

This brings the total number of Myth Collector badges available to 6! We hope you look forward to seeing the new adventures depicted on each badge!

As these badge lines are retroactive, you may have already met the requirements for some of them, and should see them on your account soon! If not, please wait a few days as our system catches up with awarding these new badges to everyone who has earned them, before contacting support.

In celebration of these new badges, we have also added ALL of the Mythological Munzees to the store! Shop the whole collection HERE and remember you can now own multiples of the same Mythological Munzees! You may purchase up to 2 within 365 days. So if your original purchases were years ago you are able to buy 2 currently. This is perfect for completing Myth Variant sets! These Myths will be available in store until 12:00 MHQ on Friday July 10.

Happy hunting, and Munzee on!

Protect Your Peepers in Tropical Locales With These 20/20 Vision Munzees!

Sure, the beach is beautiful and all, but there’s so much preparation required before you go. One thing you must always do is put on sunscreen 30 minutes before you go outside, and reapply every 2 hours after. Since you can’t apply sunscreen to your eyes, our thirteenth 20/20 Vision Munzee has you covered! These travel-friendly shades were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. Would you wear these glasses on vacation? Maybe in a different color?

Only seven Summer Shades will be deployed, and they will bounce to Greenies every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Physical Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Summer Shades will add this picturesque Sunny Sights badge to your collection! Remember, down the line we’ll be putting out an overall capture line, so don’t forget to check back for updates!

These shades boast polarized lenses — what does this mean other than the distinct dark tint when compared with regular lenses? According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, polarized lenses only allow rays of light that approach your eyes vertically to pass through, resulting in a darker image but markedly less glare. It is the lens of choice for fishermen, who spend a lot of time out in the sun! However, this same characteristic makes it difficult to see things displayed on LCD screens — so don’t wear these while driving unless you’ve confirmed that your car doesn’t employ LCD technology!

You’ll be able to capture the 20/20 Vision specials on other players’ munzees as well as your own for the remainder of the year! As a reminder, all 20/20 Vision specials will leave the map on 12/31/2020 at 23:59 MHQ. More unique 20/20 Vision specials will launch throughout the year so keep on the lookout — you won’t want to miss out on these bouncing bifocals!

All about Hammock

Howdy everyone! Today we’re writing with some bittersweet news. July is going to be the final month for our player support hammer wielder, Daniel Hammock. He is very excited to welcome a new baby into his family soon and needs the time to focus on his family. Flat Hammock will still remain in play and will be on the map permanently as announced earlier in the week.

Let’s all celebrate Daniel and his work together on National Hammock Day, July 22 (yes that is a real thing). All activity on Flat Hammocks will be double points from July 22 through July 26. Thank you Daniel for all the years of player support and caring for the Munzee family! Best wishes and good luck for the future!

ZeeOps- Operation: Camp Out (July 2020)

Agents, we are happy to inform you that the mysterious transmissions we were receiving have successfully been decoded! However, the result didn’t give us much to go on… Thankfully, we’ve also had success cleaning all of our files (as far as we are aware), so we now have the resources to dedicate a large-scale effort in investigating the transmissions. This month, we’ll be sending you out on recon missions to gather some intel. Make sure to maintain your distance from others, even other agents, as the missions and your health may be compromised.

Depending on the Operation you choose, your requirements will be tailored to the environment you’ll be staking out. Basic and Advanced Operations will be surveying laboratories, so they will require Greenie and Evolution activity. Mega Operations will be surveying weapons factories, so they will require Clan Weapon activity. Ultra Operations will be surveying incoming cargo ships, so they’ll continue to require Fire and Ice activity, with some RUM activity as well. Like last month, we’ve placed the full mission details on pages that are only accessible with your agent login — the link is provided below.

July 2020 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You will only have until July 31st at 23:59 MHQ to complete this month’s Operations. All four Operation types are available for this month- the Basic Op (3 days), the Advanced Op (7 days), the Mega Op (10 days), and the Ultra Op (14 days)!

You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Camp Out” badge.

This month’s Missions are found at https://www.munzee.com/ops/tasks

To start new Ops and view this month’s rewards please visit https://www.munzee.com/ops/new

On behalf of MHQ, we thank you for your continued service.

This message will self destruct in 3… 2… 1…

July 2020’s Resolution Is Not Just For Kids!

Now that summer is in full swing, have you been able to enjoy some of your usual hot-weather activities? While it’s certainly easier to break a sweat due to the temperature, we hope you aren’t slacking off on your fitness regimen!

For July we are featuring jump rope! Like last month’s exercise, jogging, jumping rope is a great aerobic exercise and is also very simple to do. Another benefit from jumping rope is that it exercises your coordination and ability to focus — after all, maintaining the rhythm you have turning the rope and jumping over it at the same time is no easy feat, and it gets harder as you become more tired. The only downside (or rather, barrier) to jumping rope is that it does require 1 piece of equipment and a space bubble big enough to fit your entire body comfortably within the bounds of the jump rope while standing or jumping. If you don’t have enough space, you might get your rope caught on something and injure yourself or others.

What is the perfect jump rope length?

The answer depends on whether you’re jumping alone or with a group! If you’re jumping alone, the perfect length will depend on your height. According to LiveStrong.com, anyone shorter than 4’9″ should use a 7-foot rope, while anyone taller than 6’6″ should use an 11-foot rope. If, like most people, you’re somewhere in-between, check out the link to see how long your jump rope should be!

While it may be a while before you get to jump in a group, LiveStrong’s suggested rope lengths grow depending on how many people are jumping. For a single jumper with the ropes being turned by two others, a 12-foot rope should suffice. However, more than 4 jumpers will require at least double that length! If you’re jumping double dutch, these same recommendations apply — and both ropes should be the same length!

Before you attempt any exercise, it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor**. Good luck and Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

You’ll Be the Epitome of Casual Cool With These 20/20 Vision Munzees!

While we’ve had a lot of wacky and unique eye wear options featured over the past few months, maybe they just aren’t your taste. The twelfth 20/20 Vision Munzee is bound to be appealing to a wide range of people due to their classic shape, which looks good on just about everyone! No wonder it’s the go-to choice for off-duty models and movie stars. These fetching frames were deployed this afternoon at 15:00 MHQ. Do you own a pair of these glasses? If not, would you consider them?

Only six pairs of Aviators will be deployed, and they will bounce to all colors of virtuals every 12 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Magnets though so be sure to stock up!

Points:

  • Cap: 200 points
  • CapOn (Host): 100 points

Capturing the Aviators will add this chic Bird’s Eye View badge to your collection! Remember, down the line we’ll be putting out an overall capture line, so don’t forget to check back for updates!

If you’re not a fan of how aviators look on you, first — make sure that they fit right. The front part of the glasses should be around the width of your head. When wearing the glasses, the arms should be bent at a 90 degree angle or thereabouts — not much more (they might snap off!) or much less (the glasses will slip and fall!). If fit isn’t the issue, maybe lens shape is the culprit. Try going rounder or squarer depending on your face shape and preference. Round lenses tend to look better on people with squarer faces and vice-versa, as it visually balances your face instead of making it seem “too” round or square. Of course, this is just a guideline — maybe you like how you look with a certain lens shape, regardless of your face shape — you do you!

Pick Peaches and Pears from Earth Mystery Trees!

While fall is typically the season associated with a bountiful harvest, summer has its own delicacies to look forward to! Starting at 12:00 MHQ today, there’s a chance these new scatters will appear after capturing a Tree!

We’re also excited to announce new badges for capturing Tree Scatters. Our mouths are watering at the thought of stuffing our faces with caramelized pastries, whipped cream, and these flavorful fruits!

NEW Earth Mystery Tree Scatters

In March we introduced new scatters for the Earth Mystery, changing from Boulders to Trees. Trees are extra-special since they also release their own scatters once they are capped. It’s scatterception! We promised to introduce more scatters from Trees, so here they are, just in time for some syrupy summer desserts!

Like the Red Apples and Cherry Blossoms, Peaches and Pears are both worth 25 points for Capture. To clarify — Red Apples and Cherry Blossoms will remain as possible scatters for Trees, so you have a chance for any of the 4 types.

Are you excited to capture these juicy new pins? Check your map for any uncaptured Earth Mysteries near you! Don’t see any? Pick some up in our All The Mystery Pack and trade deploys with another local player or you can get 5 Earth credits in our new store item.

Badges

We’ve also created a new badge line based on captures of individual Tree scatters! You can check out the badge for Red Apple captures below, but remember since some of these types have been out longer than others the badge requirements won’t be the same for each!

Apple Pie – Capture 100 Red Apple Scatters.

As these badges are retroactive, you may have already met the requirements for some of them, and should see them on your account soon! If not, please wait a few days as our system catches up with awarding these new badges to everyone who has earned them, before contacting support.

We hope you enjoy this new selection of fresh produce!

Munzee On!

To go along with this deploy badge, there are 6 capture badges to earn with an action-figure theme. These badges are for Trojan Unicorn captures, so be sure to track one down whenever it’s nearby! Think you can collect the whole set of CLAN WARS action figures? We won’t spoil all of the action figures, but you can check out the first badge in the line below:

Trojan Unicorn Action Play Set!- Capture one Trojan Unicorn Munzee

Lastly, there are also 3 badges to reward you for surviving burns from Flaming Arrow scatters! As there are only a few of these to collect, we’ll just show you the null image:

This brings the total number of Trojan Unicorn badges available to a nice, round 10! We hope you enjoy collecting the set!

Happy hunting, and Munzee on!
