Over the weekend, MHQ Bash attendees were given the chance to look behind the veil at what Team Munzee does in its free time. We introduced them to a new team building project we’ve been working on called TazkMaster!
Based on the British comedy game show Taskmaster*, our version sees the Munzee staff split into teams and tasked with completing bizarre and vague challenges for points. The teams are given very little information regarding how they complete their Tazks, so they have to work together to succeed.
Prior to the MHQ Bash reveal, the teams had no clue what they were doing or how they were doing compared to the other teams. At Casino Night Friday, TazkMaster Rob and Tazktician Dylan unveiled a compiled video of the first two Tazks.
Tazk 1: FTC (Freeze To Capture)
Objective: Thaw out the hidden Ice Munzee and scan it for points. You can use objects that have been hidden around the room, but you must be quick.
In this challenge each team had to thaw out an Ice Munzee from a bowl of frozen water. They could use any items in the room to access the munzee, but not all items were easily seen. Some of the teams were quick to crack the code, while others just blew a bunch of hot air.
Tazk 2: Alphabet Zoup
Objective: Your team needs to put their heads together to fill out the Munzee Alphabet Zoup form. Name as many munzee types as you can for each letter of the Alphabet in under 2 minutes. A is for Amethyst, B is for Battle Axe, etc. Each letter will only count once.
For this Tazk our teams had to come up with a munzee for each letter of the alphabet. Easy right? Well for a group who works 40 hours a week with Munzee, you might expect a little more out of us…
Finally, after revealing the videos of the first two Tazks Friday night we announced that a third Tazk was going to be preformed live in front of the audience! While the video for this won’t be released for a few weeks, we figured we could let you all in on the worst-kept secret in Team Munzee history.
Tazk 3: Munzee Melodeez
Objective: Show the crowd at MHQ Bash a good time and come up with some Munzee Melodeez. Using your team’s instrument, write a Munzee-themed jingle set to a well known song’s beat. You have 15 minutes to plan your song in private. Encourage the crowd to sing along and wow the TazkMaster who is judging the jingles.
In the middle of Friday’s Casino Night event, Dylan pulled the team’s away individually to announce the surprise Tazk. Each team had 15 minutes to prepare their songs and surprisingly there were some bonafide hits!
Be on the lookout for the compilation video soon, as well as the updated team scores.
We also announced that Tazk 3 was just the beginning of these TazkMaster shenanigans. Throughout the coming months we’ll be challenging our teams more and more, with a grand finale at next year’s MHQ Bash. You won’t want to miss out, so keep up with our Tazks as they’re released and join us again next year at MHQ Bash 5!

*Please note that we don’t have anything to do with the British game show Taskmaster. This isn’t a tease of something else to come, just a fun team-building exercise internally. It just happened to turn out very funny and worth sharing with our friends worldwide!
We introduced Personal Munzees as a way to incorporatea more social aspect to the game while allowing you to earn points. Since then, Personals have taken on a life of their own in the game. Now, we’re introducing the next step: the Premium Personal.
Like the original Personal Munzee, the Premium Personal can be deployed up to three times per day and has a one mile capture radius. The Premium Personal has some upgrades, though. For starters, a Premium Personal has a higher point structure:
Capture/CapOn: Split of 100 points, minimum 20 points
Deploy: 25 points — You only receive deploy points for the original deploy, not every time it is deployed.
Premium Personals also have another trick up their sleeve — you can link other Personal Munzees to a Premium Personal for quick deployment. You still have to capture each Personal individually. On the details page of a Premium Personal, you will see a button called “Slave Munzees”.
On the next page, you will see a space to enter the URL for one of your other Personal Munzees. NOTE: This ONLY works with Personal Munzees, and they must be owned by you.
After you click “Link Munzee”, your Personal Munzee will show up underneath the URL field. You can manage the Personals linked to your Premium Personal on this page.
Premium Personal Munzees will be launching TONIGHT at MHQ Bash. All attendees who purchased a package (this does not include the “Ace High” free package) will receive a Premium Personal (seen below).
Premium Personal Munzees will be available in the Munzee Online Store next week. Premium Personals will only be available to Premium Members, and you will only be able to buy 1 per year. Keep an eye on the blog for more information about their availability.
We hope you enjoy the new Premium Personal Munzee!
As many of you probably know, we like chasing Mythological Munzees quite a bit. It isn’t a surprise to see Rob, Matt, or other members of Team Munzee capture your Mythological and leave a funny (or so we think) picture on it. We want to see the same thing, too. You know us, though. We like to stand out a bit. That’s where the Rainbow Unicorn comes in.
These Rainbow Unicorn Mythological Munzees (or as they’re known around MHQ, “AlternaMyths”) are a bit different than the Unicorns currently out in the wild. Rainbow Unicorns will be deployed by members of Team MHQ exclusively.
Tomorrow (September 22nd) at 00:01 MHQ time, 20 Rainbow Unicorns (1 on each Team Munzee members’ account) will be deployed. Looks aren’t the only difference, though. For capturing a Rainbow Unicorn, you will earn 200 points. Owners of the host munzee will also earn double the points of normal Unicorns (e.g. if the Rainbow Unicorn lands on a Shamrock, the owner will receive 34 points; if it lands on a greenie, the owner will earn 12 points).
Some things don’t change between the Unicorn and the Rainbow Unicorn, though. As noted above, Rainbow Unicorns will land on both greenies and Shamrocks. They will still bounce every 12 hours or when captured. And, of course, Rainbow Unicorns will be attracted by Magnets.
Have fun chasing our Rainbow Unicorns, and make sure to leave pictures for us!
The three new badges will require you to meet lots of new people, which is perfect for the upcoming event season! These badges will go live Thursday September 21st at 12:00 MHQ. We won’t release all of the badge requirements (we like to keep you guessing!) but below is a look at the V.I.P. badge.
Remember that you can purchase Personal Munzees through official Munzee Resellers or event hosts, at the discretion of hosts. We’re excited to meet all sorts of new players this weekend, so be sure to have all of your Personals deployed!
We know that everyone can’t make it to MHQ Bash this weekend, so we wanted to spread the love worldwide and offer a 10% discount on all items in the Munzee Online Store! The sale will run from Friday at 17:00 MHQ until Sunday at 12:00 MHQ. Just input the code “ALLIN” at checkout to receive the 10% discount.
The discount code will apply to your whole order and you can use it as many times as you like throughout the weekend. Please note that you MUST use the code to receive the discount. We will not refund any purchases simply because they forgot to include the discount code.
We’re so excited to see players in McKinney this weekend, but to those who can’t attend we hope you’ll be there in spirit! Munzee on!
Last month, we announced that members of Team Munzee would be participating in the DFW Tour de Cure to raise funds and awareness for diabetes. Since then, we’ve also announced MunzFit 2.0 events (as well as MunzFit 2.0 apparel) that will launch at the end of MHQ Bash and run through Tour de Cure. We’re a month out from the Tour de Cure, and we’ve got a few updates.
Munzee
Our Munzee event for Tour de Cure will have a special badge and icon that can be earned. We know everyone isn’t able to make it, but if you can, we’d be happy to see you. You can join our team, come out to cheer us on, or help us raise funds for the American Diabetes Association by donating to our team. If you do join us, we’ll have a Team Munzee tent that we will use as a meeting point.
Eventzee
Eventzee will be partnering with Tour de Cure for a special hunt! We’re currently working with the American Diabetes Association and Tour de Cure to finalize plans, so keep an eye out for more information.
If you haven’t put a MunzFit event on the calendar yet, you still have time! Don’t miss out!
We’ll kickstart the weekend in top form with Registration and our “All In” Casino Night at MHQ! There will be variety of casino games including Black Jack and Poker with professional dealers, and you can compete for a chance to win Munzee gift cards!
Registration starts at 6 PM and not a moment sooner. We need to make sure everything is all ready to go before the fun begins. Please have your proof of purchase on hand so we can make it as quick and painless as possible!
Casino Night will officially start at 7 PM and lasts until 10 PM. The entire team will be here, which is the first time everyone from Munzee, Eventzee, WallaBee and Garfield Go will be in the same place! There will also be an Eventzee photo scavenger hunt for those in attendance. Do you think you can snap a pic with the Royal Flush Family?
Bright and early Saturday morning we’ll host the annual Eventzee Activity Hunt! You’ll have to search through Erwin Park and complete various casino themed activities to advance.
As always there will be lots of photos taken, so dress to impress! You’ll need Lady Luck with you if you want to walk away with a Munzee gift card! You’ll have two hours to complete the hunt as quickly (and creatively) as possible.
Have you ever dreamed about meeting WallaBee’s talented artist, Andy Cameron? What about experiencing the rare sighting of the elusive Sasquatch? Well, here’s your chance for both! Come to the The Hive (MHQ) for the first official gathering of the Bees and the Zees!
Earn a variety of Munzee badges, a special in-game WallaBee gift, learn to play the WallaBee Card Game and more!
Join us in reminiscing about the very first MHQ Bash at Downtown McKinney’s Oktoberfest! We’ll meet up at what used to be the Munzee Marketplace (RIP) and explore from there. There will be a virtual trail all around the festival and we’ll meet at each spot on the half hour. There will also be a German themed Eventzee hunt to keep you exploring the area.
After a long weekend we wanted everyone to take the chance to rest up and relax- then we remembered relaxing is boring! Help us kick off our MunzFit 2.0 program with a 3K race around Towne Lake.
By completing the race you’ll earn an AWESOME medal and a ton of badges. We’ll do a light breakfast, say our goodbyes and, of course, cap some munzees.
We look forward to seeing all of you next week! Safe travels and Munzee on!
Team Munzee is gearing up for the Tour de Cure and MunzFit 2.0 events, and we want you to get in on the action, too! We know not everyone can be there, but you can sport the apparel we do. We’ll be wearing custom cycling jerseys for Tour de Cure, and we’ve created shirts based on their design.
We’ve also added MunzFit 2.0 shirts, tank tops, zip-up hoodies, pullover hoodies, and baseball tees!
And last, but not least, we’ve added a Munzee #MunzFit sports bra! This item is brought to you in partnership with DBA Sports, a sponsor of our cycling queen Louise. These are available NOW in multiple sizes!
Hey, everyone! Matt here. I was off last week, but I wanted to recap my trip to South Carolina for the kickoff of the Get Fit Munzee Trail!
Erica (AgentSmiley) approached us about creating a Munzee trail as part of her Silver Award for Girl Scouts. I, an Eagle Scout myself, loved the idea of using Munzee to help with a community service project for a great organization. The team worked with Erica and her family to plan and release a 30 stop trail in Spartanburg, South Carolina dubbed the Get Fit Munzee Trail. This trail is a permanent fixture on the Munzee map, and can be seen using the Tourism filter.
The trail went live on Saturday, September 2nd with a kickoff event. We spent the morning walking the 2.45 mile walking trail while capping the new Trail Munzees and event icons that had been deployed. This was some players’ first time playing and attending an event, and it was great to see the Munzee community in action helping them learn.
After the morning event, we all went out to cap some more then met up for a “cool down” event to grab some food, enjoy each other’s company, and cap more event munzees.
I had a great time, and I want to thank everyone who came out or supported from afar. I’m happy that we were able to help Erica with her project as well as grow the Munzee community.
Rob and I will be back at events soon, and we can’t wait to meet and see more of you!
