Holiday Season Plans

Well, the holiday season is upon us. For the MHQ team, that means a lot of travelling. Below is a list of events you should be aware of.

American Thanksgiving

The MHQ staff (including Rob) will be out of the office from Wednesday, November 25th through Sunday, November 29th. That means Flat Robs will be back on the map during those days!

Christmas Parties

The amount of Christmas parties on the schedule is amazing, and we can’t wait to see the results of them! Rob and Matt will be travelling to events during December.
- Rob will be attending “Capping the Coast” during the first weekend of December! If you’re in the Florida area,or just want to have a good time, make sure you join!
- Matt will be attending “Metro Vancouver Post Holiday Cap’ing” on December 27th. It’s the first official Munzee visit to Vancouver, so if you’re in the Pacific Northwest and can make it, he’d love to meet you all!

Christmas and New Year’s Plans

MHQ staff will be out of the office for some days during December to spend time with their families for Christmas and the new year. We’ll provide more details about those dates (and when you’ll be able to catch Flat Rob on the map again) as we get closer.

This coming week is filled with holidays and sales days, especially in the US. We’ve decided to celebrate all over the world with Cyber Munzweek and introduce new items as well as thank you, our players, for all of your support. Below is a list of each day and what we will be doing. Unless indicated otherwise, sales/specials will begin at 10am MHQ time that day and will last until 9:59am the following morning.

Monday, November 23rd: Giveaways!
We’re starting the week off with freebies! Credit items will be awarded at random for captures* from 00:01-23:59 MHQ time.

Tuesday, November 24th: MORE Giveaways!
One giveaway day isn’t enough, is it? We don’t think so! We will continue to award credit items for random captures* from 00:01-23:59 MHQ time.

Wednesday, November 25th: Premo Sale!
From 00:01-23:59 MHQ time, premium members get 20% off the Munzee online store (excluding premium memberships and gift certificates).

Thursday, November 26th: ThanksGIVE-ing!
Premium members will receive One (1) Flat Rob and One (1) New Surprise Munzee for free!

Friday, November 27th: New Virt!
All new Virtual Trails will be on sale! A five (5) stop trail will be $3 (regularly $5) and a ten (10) stop trail will be $5 (regularly $10)! Also, we have a very limited number of surplus October MunzPaks that will be available for $20 (that WILL NOT include the virtual items).

Saturday, November 28th: SCATTER!
We’re introducing the Scatter Munzee! These will be on sale for $3 (regularly $5).

Sunday, November 29th: Prizes!
You never know what you’ll get with the Prize Wheel Munzee! They will be on sale for $2 (regularly $5).

Monday, November 30th: SURPRISE?!
When we retired the Mystery Virtual Munzee, we promised something would replace it. Well, here it is! The Surprise Munzee will be on sale for $3 (regularly $5). We’re not stopping there, though. We will be releasing 1000 Limited Edition Unicorn Munzees for $20. Limit 1 per person.

*Socials do not count toward captures for prizes.

Brief Descriptions of New Munzee Types

Surprise Munzee: When captured, it will take on the best point characteristics of a random Munzee from a predetermined list for points (e.g. Full Hotel/Motel, Diamond Ruby, etc)
Virtual Trails: Distance rules are the same as physical Trail Munzees, and the point structure is extended for stops 6-10.
Scatter Munzee: When captured, this munzee will throw out (similar to the ghost pellet specials) 4 special munzees on greenies within a 1 mile radius that can be captured within 2 hours. Anyone can capture these new munzees.
Prize Wheel Munzee: When captured, the player will receive points or rewards randomly based on a predetermined list (e.g. 20-100 points, DIamond +10 points, Hotel + 10 points, etc).
Unicorn Munzee: These munzees behave like nomads, but are owned by players.

Full descriptions of each Munzee will be released on the blog the day they go for sale.

NOTE: We are still accepting submissions for the Make Us A Munzee competition. The munzees we are releasing next week have been in production for quite some time. Though some of the submissions we have received are very similar, the new releases are not reflective of that competition.

Christmas Parties and Something to Watch For

First off, thanks from Louise for all the Christmas Party submissions and artwork requests. They are all set in the queue, and Trish is steadily working through them. Just recently completed was the host badges for all the different packages and the attendee badge. We thought you might like to see the badge you will get if you attend a Christmas Party this December. We hope you are digging out your best Christmas attire in preparation for the Dodgy Jumper competition! The badge for the winner of that at each event is pretty special! Keep your eyes peeled for a sneak peek of that at some point soon! Any issues or concerns about events please contact Louise directly at louise@munzee.com.

Cut Off Date for Customised Christmas Events

We’ve been overwhelmed with the response for Christmas Party events. The amount of submissions is requiring us to make a cut off date so that all requested customised badges and icons can be completed in time. No further submissions for customised badges and icons for December will be accepted after 17:00 CST tomorrow, November 4^th.

We have, however, drawn up generic badges and icons that can be customised with event names so that hosts can still be in for the Artful Dodger and/or Full Turkey Dinner levels. We want to make sure we provide the best service possible, so please contact Louise straight away if you’re interested in fully customised artwork for your December event.

Also, it seems some event submissions aren’t going through correctly, so if you have attempted to contact us for an event and haven’t heard back, please email Louise directly at louise@munzee.com so she can get your request in before the cut off time.

The Future Is Now!

Well October 21st has come and gone. Still no self lacing shoes (yet!), no flying cars, and the Cubs won’t be winning the world series… But, we did have hover boards! For one gleaming day, hover boards were a reality in the Munzee world, and you guys went out and got them! During the 48 hours in which it was October 21st throughout the world, players captured 87,116 hover board icons!

We’d also like to take this opportunity to recognize Rob Steer and the Back to the Future Day event he hosted in Shepparton, Australia. The badge for capturing the hover board icons was a variation on the badge our designers created for his event.

To everyone who participated in Back to the Future Day events over the past few days, thank you! We hope you all enjoyed the special. We’ve got more exciting things coming!

October Clan Requirements

Level 1: Individual members must each capture 1 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees. Combined clan must capture 20 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees. 1000 minimum clan points *combined.
Reward: 1 Aquamarine Munzee

Level 2: Individual members must each capture 5 of any type of Family Jewel Munzees (combine any types together). Combined clan must capture 100 of any type of Family Jewel Munzees. 7000 minimum clan points combined.
Reward: 2 Mace Munzees, 2 Virtual Munzees, 1 Aquamarine Munzee

Level 3: Individual members must each capture 15 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees (combine any types together). Combined clan must capture 250 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees. 35000 minimum clan points combined.
Reward: 3 Longsword Munzees, 2 Diamond Munzees, 2 Aquamarine Munzees, 1 Virtual Munzee

Level 4: Individual members must each capture 30 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees (combine any types together). Combined clan must capture 450 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees. 75000 minimum clan points combined.
Reward: 4 Mace Munzees, 3 Longsword Munzees, 2 Battle Axe Munzees, 2 Diamond Munzees, 2 Aquamarine Munzees, 1 Hammer Munzee, 1 Ruby Munzee

Level 5: Individual members must each capture 50 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees (combine any types together). Combined clan must capture 700 of any type of the Family Jewel Munzees. 100000 minimum clan points combined.
Reward: 1 Hammer Munzee, 1 Amethyst Munzee, 1 Battle Axe Munzee, 2 Longsword Munzees, 2 Ruby Munzees, 3 Diamond Munzees, 4 Mace Munzees, 5 Aquamarine Munzees

Introducing the Zodiac Munzee Line

When we launched the MunzPak service, we wanted to provide subscribers with new munzees and exclusive launches. With the October MunzPak, we will be doing just that. It will include the beginning of a new line of munzees: The Zodiac Munzees. These are physical stickers, not credits or virtuals.

Each month will include a new member of the Zodiac line, starting with Scorpio in October. Every Zodiac will be worth 10 deploy, capture, and cap on points. During the zodiac’s range, however, those numbers will double. For example, if a Scorpio is deployed or captured between October 23rd and November 21st, it will be worth 20 capture, deploy, and cap on points. Players will also earn a corresponding badge when they deploy a Zodiac Munzee. You can also see this information at https://www.munzee.com/types. Zodiac stickers will be mailed each month in the MunzPak and available exclusively in this program.

October’s MunzPak will include 5 Scorpio Munzees, 1 Ruby Munzee, 1 Hotel Munzee, 1 Virtual Amethyst Munzee, and a $5 gift certificate to the Munzee Store that will be emailed to you.

If you aren’t currently a MunzPak subscriber and want to get September’s Virtual MunzPak, you can still subscribe before the end of the month. Once your subscription has processed this is your renewal date. If you would like to move that date forward in October you can email us on the date you would like your October’s MunzPak to be processed at orders@munzee.com. **We are only able to move your subscription to the current date**

Munzee 3.0.2 Update

First off, we’d like to thank everyone for their patience regarding Munzee 3.0 functionality with iOS. We want to provide the best experience possible while playing Munzee, and we’ve been working diligently to do so.

At 9am CST, we pushed Munzee 3.0.2 to the App Store and Google Play Store. This update includes:

Improved iOS 7.X support
Improved iOS 9 support
Layout fixes
Several bug fixes

Again, we want to thank everyone for their support. We will continue working to build upon and improve Munzee to make it the best we can. Grow the map!

Newz from the Prez

I wanted to take a few minutes and update everyone on several issues we are facing. The first is the release of iOS 9 and our subsequent blog post about how it would effect the use of our app. We appreciate the patience of our Apple phone using players as we patiently wait for version 3.0.2 to be approved by Apple. The second issue has been our announcement of removal of our 2.x apps from Google Play and the App store on October 1st. Many suggestions have been made about alternatives, however several core components to the app were due for renewal from their providers. With the release of 3.0 and the new core components the time was right to cut off the other services. We realize both of these issues are not optimal for our worldwide players but we are working to come up with the best solutions possible. To help ease some of the pain we’ve come up with something fun for all players! 🙂

As a thank you to our loyal players we are opening up the prize vault this weekend. From 00:01 September 18 until 23:59 September 20 you will have a chance to win random prizes from MHQ (all times are MHQ based, GMT -6). These prizes will be added to your credits or your undeployed list. Every capture and/or deploy during this time has a chance to earn you a prize so get out there and Grow the Map or paint the town red!
