Minimum 1,000 total points per player

Level 2:

Minimum 5,000 total points per player

Share Your Munzee Tips and Tricks!

Team Munzee has recently seen players share tips and tricks for Munzee in online groups and at events. Some of us have even learned things we didn’t know! With this in mind, we want to spread the word on some of these tips to help other players, both new and old.

We’re asking you to share your tips/tricks with us as part of a new series of weekly social posts. You can submit them here, and we’ll share some of them on our social media channels every week!

Changes to Mythological Munzees

You may have noticed something different about the Mythological Munzees the past day. This morning, we altered some things, including:

  • Mythological Munzees can now be capped when being hosted by a munzee you own.
  • The web and app maps will show Mythological Munzees on your own munzees with the correct icons.
  • The app will show Mythological Munzees on the map even if you have your owned munzees filtered out.

These changes are only applicable to the Mythological Munzees and the munzees they land on (greenies and Physical Shamrocks). We want to make being able to cap Mythologicals more fair to players in less dense areas. This DOES NOT mean that you can cap your own greenies or Shamrocks when they are not hosting a Mythological Munzee.

This is currently being considered a trial run. We will be monitoring activity to make sure that this change is not being abused. If we discover that it is, we will revert the changes.

Player of the Week: Jirka Kallio (Jigge)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Jirka Kallio (Jigge).

Who are you?
I’m Jirka Kallio, but my friends call me Jigge.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Orimatila. It is a little town in Finland with about 16k people.

How long have you played Munzee?
I signed up in June 2013, but didn’t make my first capture until 5/19/14.

How did you find Munzee?
The first time I heard of Munzee was in a Finnish cache forum. My friend Eemeliz1 also played and told me about it. He helped me and showed me how to make my own munzees and deploy them. When I started, there were about twenty greenies and one broken diamond. We worked hard, and now there are a few more you can cap. 🙂

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?

  1. Seeing new places. I’ve traveled to many countries and played.
  2. Seeing other players at events or in the field. I’ve arranged all of the events here. It is a little hard to do alone, but rewarding. I arranged the Easter Event with Sivontim.
  3. I also like the new Munzee types that are introduced.
  4. Teaching kids that you can play games outdoors and not always on that PS3 or XBOX in the house.

What is on your wish list?

  1. Visiting MHQ and Munzee Marketplace in the summer of 2017. My plan is to take a one month trip and visit as many cities as I can to play. I’d also like to attend events while I’m there. I still have to save a lot of money for that.
  2. There is Flat Rob, but what about adding a new physical Munzee with the same proximity limits? Flat Jigge? Just kidding 😉

Tell us about yourself!
I’m 33 (maybe 34 when this comes out). My birthday is 3/24. (Editor’s Note: Happy (early) Birthday, Jigge!) I’m single with no kids, so I can play Munzee whenever I want ( like going Unicorn hunting in the middle of the night 😉 ).

I’m a bartender, but I’ll be changing jobs in the next month. My next job will be in a large warehouse where I will be driving a forklift. I’m very excited for it.

I also work with kids and teens as a support person, similiar to a Big Brother. We do things like bowling, rock climbing, going to movies, and so on. I also help them with school work.

Other hobbies include:
Munzee is the biggest thing in my life at this time, but I also like walking/hiking in the forest and taking pictures there. Sometimes I go bouldering or rock climbing with my “little brother”.

Easter Bonnet Competition Winners!

FREE

Everyone always wants something for free. Well this time we are totally giving it to you! That’s right, *FREE! Flat Robs @ Easter Events!

Matt left the office Friday for an event in Canada, and other team members are out at events this weekend. Rob was sad he missed the first Easter events that started on the 17th and had other plans with family for the weekend. He wants to make it to every event in the world, but it’s just not possible to travel that much. So we put our thinking caps on and decided to send the next best thing! FLAT ROB! He will be on the map for the duration of the Easter events, so he is able to celebrate with everyone worldwide. That’s right, all the way through April 10th at 23:59.

Flat Rob’s will be sold in the store from time to time between now and April 10th but will not be there permanently. Also, you may not have heard but you get 5 FR’s included with your Munzpak subscription this month.

 

*Easter Events themselves are not free. It’s a play on the first letter of each word. Flat Rob will be “set free” on the map.

Reseller Stickers Are Now Available!

Authorized resellers are a huge part of the Munzee community. They take an idea and expand it into items that Team Munzee would have never thought of. They also have their own dedicated communities that they serve proudly and diligently. Now we’re proud to serve them and you with a new Munzee: Reseller Unique Munzee Stickers. As you can imagine they are already being affectionately called RUMS by the reseller group.

Each reseller now has a unique Munzee sticker and icon with their logo/branding on them. On the map, they will all have the same generic reseller icon (seen here). When captured, you will not only receive this icon, but alsoResellerPin the icon for the specific reseller who distributed the sticker. For example, if you capture 5 of Reseller A’s stickers and 5 of Reseller B’s stickers, you will receive 10 generic reseller icons as well as 5 Reseller A icons and 5 Reseller B icons.

Each sticker is coded as generic for any player and the points for the RUMS are as follows:

  • Capture: 15
  • Deploy: 25
  • CapOn: 10

The RUMS will have associated capture and deploy badges coming soon. This is just a first step in something big to come, so keep an eye out for further announcements.

Badges for Mythological Munzees are Here!

The release of the Unicorn and Leprechaun Munzees left us (and you) with the inevitable question: When are associated badges being released? As you may have deduced from a previous social post, they have arrived!

Today, we are releasing two badge lines: one for Unicorns and one for Leprechauns. Each line currently has three classes for capturing a number of unique Mythological Creatures: 1 Unicorn/Leprechaun, 50 Unicorns/Leprechauns, and 100 Unicorns/Leprechauns.

These badges aren’t cross-creature, i.e.27 Unicorns and 23 Leprechauns do not equal a badge for either.

Do you have what it takes to rise the ranks? Get out there and prove it! Munzee on!

DPD 4 EOM

That’s right it’s Double Point Days for End Of March!

Not all players can enjoy double points on weekends. *See DPD announcement for this weekend on greens and emeralds at the bottom of a previous blog post* Not all players can enjoy double points on weekdays. The world is big and there is never a perfect time for everyone in our worldwide community. This blog post is going out many hours later than our typical posts during the MHQ workday for that reason. *Hello to our players Down Under who may be currently awake and playing, and sweet dreams to those in Europe who may be resting!*

The purpose of this post is to inform you of an upcoming special occasion. Double Point Days! Let’s end March by celebrating the players who put in time to do battle each month with their Munzee clan. From March 29th 00:01 through March 31st 23:59 MHQ time (UTC -5) all clan weapons will be double points. This includes deploy, capture, and cap on points for the 4 weapon types. The Mace, Longsword, Battle Axe, and The Hammer.

We hope you’ve enjoyed March as much as we have (and it’s only halfway through). Thank you to our players who faithfully compete in clan battles every month. If you have a stockpile of weapons, NOW is the time to prepare them for deploy! If you’ve never joined a Munzee clan, the trading window opens April 1st at 00:01 for the April battle.

Player of the Week: Marie Crossman (rosieree)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Marie Crossman (rosieree).

My name is Marie Crossman a/k/a rosieree.

Where in the world do you live?
I live near the Orlando area of Florida, USA in Longwood.

How long have you played Munzee?
I started playing Munzee on September 14, 2014.

How did you find Munzee?
My husband was playing and capping the “ice” when those were out. I basically was bored watching him, so I decided to go online, make my name, and begin capping the ice too! That was it! I was totally hooked 🙂 Our first road trip was to the inaugural MHQ Bash in Texas.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I love the fact that I get to walk around some beautiful places that I have never been before in search of a munzee. And the people…oh my, I don’t even know where to begin. I love meeting new people, some of who have become dear friends. I enjoy the events too! We always have a great time hanging out. I love to introduce new people to Munzee and having them get as excited as I do. I appreciate the charities Munzee supports. I find it very rewarding to know that those charities are benefiting from my play! I also love the Social Munzees and have so much fun every month exchanging socials within our group from all over the world! Munzee really does have the best people!

What is on your wish list?
I love the badges, so I am happy that more have been added. Now I would love some new badges for deploying/capping socials. The specials jumping from greenie to greenie is a huge plus, and I love to chase after them! More specials and more badges would be super!

Tell us about yourself!
I am the wife to my best friend ever, my husband Warren and mom to five grown children. We have the most precious grandson who loves to walk the trails “looking” for a munzee or anything else that catches his eye (he is now 5 years). I enjoy baking and time with my family and friends and of course our Munzee trips!

Other hobbies include:
When I am not out Munzeeing, I love to do research for my genealogy which has taken me on many road trips. Being a wife, mom, and now a grandma is my greatest joy!

Any last words?
I feel so totally blessed for this nomination. I would like to thank my husband and all my friends who have given me so much joy in this game. I belong to the best group of folks for my clan, the FMH Superchuckers, and appreciate their support each and every month! Also, thank you to all the folks at MHQ for their outstanding work. You all ROCK!
