Event Spotlight: Munzee Húsvét

While Munzee can certainly be a solo game if you choose, there’s no denying the appeal in meeting others who share your interests. Munzee Events are perhaps the best example of this, as they allow you to meet both old and new players in a safe, friendly environment. On top of that, there are usually activities, games, and — if you’re lucky — goodie bags! That being said, planning events requires a considerable amount of effort. So, to make it easier for prospective hosts (and maybe even recurring hosts), we decided to put the spotlight on past events, Munzee-Toolkit style! We hope this series of posts will inspire you to try hosting an event if you never have before, or provide you with ideas to spice up future events if you’re an old hand at it!

Today we’re featuring the Munzee Húsvét event, which took place on March 20, 2016 at Budapest, Hungary and was hosted by Attis.

Give us a brief summary about your event!

It was our first event (I was playing in a team with my son). At that time we were still quite new players – we registered in 2013 but we joined a clan just a few months before (the event) – we didn’t know a lot of players personally so it was a great opportunity to meet people.

What tips do you have when hosting an awesome event?

Choose a good, easy accessible location. Besides the new icons and badges, some small gifts, freebies, and tombolas are always attracting players.

What made your event unique?

As the event was related to Easter, we offered to all participants some Easter Bunny chocolates and eggs. Also, it was the first event in Hungary when Emerald Pins were given to each player who attended the event.

Would you like to highlight any future events you’re hosting?

https://calendar.munzee.com/event1593456498/

Thank you to Attis for being such a great host and submitting the details for this event! We will be reaching out to other past event hosts in the future, so keep an eye on your inbox!

Camp Competition Week 2

It’s time for another weekly check-in! We’re halfway through, but we still wanted to give you some reminders as you continue Camp Munzee gameplay!

If you haven’t done so already, bookmark CuppaZee’s Camps Leaderboard so you can quickly check on your Camp’s progress whenever you like!

Remember that active players on ALL teams will receive prizes each week; players from the top team will just get the most of whatever it is we decide to give, and players from the second place team will get slightly less than the top team, and so on…

As we stated in the original blog post, the top team at the final check-in will receive double points on certain Myth captures for a whole month! We’re also planning to award additional prizes, but you’ll just have to wait and see!

Now that we’ve got all of that out the way, it’s time to announce the results for the past week! Congratulations to Camp FrEEZ for keeping its place at the top!

We’d also like to congratulate Camp KenneZEE and Camp Cap-A-Lot as well for rising up in the ranks! We noticed that the rankings kept changing, all the way up until the last minute. We’re happy to see that players from all camps are putting in the effort and keeping things interesting. We hope that fighting spirit remains until the end of the competition!

Lastly, if you’re proud to be in your camp, don’t forget to commemorate this special time with some Camp Merch! You can view the Camp Munzee Collection HERE!

Keep Cool with August 2020’s Resolution!

Around this time of year in the US, we usually can’t wait until Fall, as scorching temperatures have us wishing for cooler days. Unfortunately, it’s not quite time for Fall yet. But we can make things a bit more comfortable while exercising by preparing a comfortable environment! As we announced in our January Resolutions blog, we will be launching monthly Capture Streak Badges centered on a year of being active. Each month’s badge will be dedicated to practicing a different exercise. Similar to how our Super Streak badges operate, you will be awarded a badge if you capture at least one munzee* each day for the entire month. This month’s badge may be tricky to get, but we believe in you!

Each month’s badge will be themed around the particular resolution goal. For August we are featuring Aquatics! Aquatic exercises are often part of physical therapy programs for injured athletes, and are also a good choice for the elderly, as the water can greatly reduce the impact of exercises normally performed out of the water. According to this article from the American Sports College of Medicine, another benefit to aquatic exercise is that coaches or trainers can more easily see problems with a person’s movements — and thus determine if there are weaknesses that need to be addressed — by having that person perform a movement pattern in the water. This is likely due to the water forcing the body to move a much slower rate.

What are some great aquatic exercises to try?

The same article by the ACSM extols the value of aquatic exercise for ALL, not just the injured and elderly, so it’s worth it to give Aquatics a try! If you’re not sure where to start, here are our favorite suggestions from that article:

  • Punch – “For the upper cut, the hand starts from behind the hip and punches to the surface of the water with a torso rotation; the straight shot has the hand begin just beside your chest and drives directly out in front of you, under the water.”
  • High Knee – “Like playing hacky sack under water; knees driving up towards your chest, legs moving hard down towards the bottom of the pool and slightly below/behind you.”
  • Cross Country – “Move your legs in long strides like running, yet straighter but without locking your knees (this increases your hip ROM) with an opposite arm to leg motion.”

We think you could even put these together into a routine that feels like a fight scene from an action movie in a pool! What other exercises would be fun to do in the water? We’re sure there’s more than just ballet and volleyball!

Before you attempt any exercise, it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor**. Good luck and Munzee on!

* In order to encourage active gameplay we will not count Social Munzees for these capture streaks. If you know you’ll be in an area without munzees, plan ahead!

** MUNZEE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY EXERCISE-RELATED INJURIES

Camp Competition Week 1

Earlier this week we announced that weekly prizes would be awarded based on points within the week. We thought this would help motivate players on all 4 teams, as every team will be starting from scratch each week and have the same opportunity to earn the weekly prize!

However, keep in mind that the grand prize at the end of the competition will take the entire competition period into account, so keep giving your all until the end — you never know if another team will launch a surprise attack! If you need a refresher on the rules, check our original post HERE! And remember rewards are only given to active campers each week, so keep playing even if you don’t see balloons or flags!

Now that we’ve got all of that out the way, it’s time to announce the results for the past week! Congratulations to Camp FrEEZ for starting the competition off strong!!!

As for the other Camps, don’t feel discouraged — this is the start of a new week after all! You can give Camp FrEEZ a run for its money as the weekly prizes do not directly give them an advantage in the competition — though they are certainly very nice in regular Munzee gameplay!

Combat Cabin Fever by Capturing Competing Camp Specials!

Whether or not you’re able to attend a Camp Munzee event near you, we want everyone to join in on the fun for our 9th Birthday! Get ready for some friendly competition as we pit our players against each other in Water Wars and Capture Zee Flag with Competing Camp specials!

Camp Competition

We’ve divided up active players randomly into 4 “Camps” to compete for prizes by capturing Competing Camp specials!

Will you wander into the wilderness with Camp Cap-A-Lot?

Perhaps you’re building pillow forts at home with Camp QRantine!

If it’s a bit chillier on your side of the world maybe you’re with Camp FrEEZ!

Or maybe you’re ready for interstellar exploration with Camp KenneZEE?

It’s up to you to lead your camp towards victory! This competition will be based on your camp’s overall Water Balloon and Flag bouncer captures. You can find out more about these specials below.

There will be prizes at stake each week, with the largest prizes awarded at the final check-in. Active players in all camps will receive a prize each week, but, as you may expect, the best prize will go to players in the 1st Place camp.

We don’t want to spoil all the prizes just yet, but we’re excited to announce that the winning camp overall will get, among other prizes, double points on certain Myth captures for a whole month!

The weekly winnings check-in schedule is as follows:

  • Thursday, July 16th at 12:00 MHQ
  • Thursday, July 23rd at 12:00 MHQ
  • Thursday, July 30th at 12:00 MHQ
  • Tuesday, August 11th at 12:00 MHQ — Final Award ceremony!

We’ll post on social media about the results each week, but to aid you in tracking your team’s progress we’ve partnered with CuppaZee to develop a leaderboard special for this event! You can check it out HERE!

Water Wars and Capture Zee Flag

Competing Camp specials are broken down into two different types of bouncers: Water Balloons and Camp Flags. Both types of specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until August 9 at 23:59 MHQ. You can use the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters to more easily view them on the map. There are quite a few different specials, so check out a breakdown of each below!

Water Balloons

There will be 1,596 Water Balloon Specials available for capture on the map — that breaks down to 399 of each type. These are attracted to Virtual Magnets. None of these specials are blastable.

For the Camp Competition leaderboard each Water Balloon capture will count as 1 point. Please note that this is different than the actual capture points a player will earn. This secondary point structure is just for tallying the Camp leaderboard.

Landing Pads:

  • All Virtual Colors

Bounce Time:

  • every 4 hours

Points:

  • Capture: 99
  • CapOn: 19

Camp Flags

In addition to the Water Balloons there will also be four rare Camp Flag Specials bouncing around the map! There will be a total of 36 Camp Flag Specials available for capture — that breaks down to 9 of each type. More Camp Flags may be crafted as Camp Directors see fit! These are attracted to both Physical or Virtual Magnets on their respective landing pads. These are officially tPOBs on the Munzee Camp account and are not blastable.

Since these are more rare each Camp Flag capture will count as 5 points on the Camp Competition leaderboard. As stated above please note that this is different than the actual capture points a player will earn. This secondary point structure is just for tallying the Camp leaderboard.

Landing Pads:

Bounce Times:

  • every 2 hours

Points:

  • Capture: 199
  • CapOn: 19

Badges

There are three lines of badges related to Competing Camp specials.

The first line is based on the Camp you’ve been assigned to — think of it as a Membership Badge! These badges feature a shirt with your camp’s logo so wear it with pride!

The second line is based on overall Water Balloon captures. These badges will give you some high-utility upgrades to your watery weapons. You can see the first badge in this line below:

Little Water Pistol – Capture at least one Water Balloon special of any type.

The third line of badges is based on capping unique Camp Flags. There will be one badge featuring the hidden home base for each camp. Make sure to cap at least one of each flag so you can be the king or queen of all four camps! You can sneak a peek at Camp Cap-A-Lot’s home base badge below:

Cap-A-Lot Cabin- Capture at least one Camp Cap-A-Lot Red Flag

Help cheer on your camp by purchasing Camp Spirit merch! The online collection includes a number of different products featuring the four camp logos. Whether you want to wear camp style with a shirt, or sip camp spirit with a tin mug, we’ve got you covered! Check out the whole collection HERE!

We hope this injects a bit of fun into your summer and gets you into the spirit of our Camp-themed 9th Birthday Celebration! If you love this artwork, look for it and so much more on our sister app, WallaBee!

ZeeOps- Operation: Camp Out (July 2020)

Agents, we are happy to inform you that the mysterious transmissions we were receiving have successfully been decoded! However, the result didn’t give us much to go on… Thankfully, we’ve also had success cleaning all of our files (as far as we are aware), so we now have the resources to dedicate a large-scale effort in investigating the transmissions. This month, we’ll be sending you out on recon missions to gather some intel. Make sure to maintain your distance from others, even other agents, as the missions and your health may be compromised.

Depending on the Operation you choose, your requirements will be tailored to the environment you’ll be staking out. Basic and Advanced Operations will be surveying laboratories, so they will require Greenie and Evolution activity. Mega Operations will be surveying weapons factories, so they will require Clan Weapon activity. Ultra Operations will be surveying incoming cargo ships, so they’ll continue to require Fire and Ice activity, with some RUM activity as well. Like last month, we’ve placed the full mission details on pages that are only accessible with your agent login — the link is provided below.

July 2020 ZeeOps Operations are now live and you can begin planning your Missions to start on the following day. You will only have until July 31st at 23:59 MHQ to complete this month’s Operations. All four Operation types are available for this month- the Basic Op (3 days), the Advanced Op (7 days), the Mega Op (10 days), and the Ultra Op (14 days)!

You can plan your Operations at munzee.com/ops/ and purchase more ZeeCred in the Freeze Tag Online Store. Remember that if you hit a snag at any point in your Operation you can use the Mission Mulligan feature to keep going!

By completing any Operation this month you’ll earn the “Operation: Camp Out” badge.

This month’s Missions are found at https://www.munzee.com/ops/tasks

To start new Ops and view this month’s rewards please visit https://www.munzee.com/ops/new

On behalf of MHQ, we thank you for your continued service.

This message will self destruct in 3… 2… 1…

This month’s badge may be tricky to get, but we believe in you!

Each month’s badge will be themed around the particular resolution goal. For July we are featuring jump rope! Like last month’s exercise, jogging, jumping rope is a great aerobic exercise and is also very simple to do. Another benefit from jumping rope is that it exercises your coordination and ability to focus — after all, maintaining the rhythm you have turning the rope and jumping over it at the same time is no easy feat, and it gets harder as you become more tired. The only downside (or rather, barrier) to jumping rope is that it does require 1 piece of equipment and a space bubble big enough to fit your entire body comfortably within the bounds of the jump rope while standing or jumping. If you don’t have enough space, you might get your rope caught on something and injure yourself or others.

What is the perfect jump rope length?

The answer depends on whether you’re jumping alone or with a group! If you’re jumping alone, the perfect length will depend on your height. According to LiveStrong.com, anyone shorter than 4’9″ should use a 7-foot rope, while anyone taller than 6’6″ should use an 11-foot rope. If, like most people, you’re somewhere in-between, check out the link to see how long your jump rope should be!

While it may be a while before you get to jump in a group, LiveStrong’s suggested rope lengths grow depending on how many people are jumping. For a single jumper with the ropes being turned by two others, a 12-foot rope should suffice. However, more than 4 jumpers will require at least double that length! If you’re jumping double dutch, these same recommendations apply — and both ropes should be the same length!

Before you attempt any exercise, it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor**. Good luck and Munzee on!
