PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Player of the Week: Annika Pedersen (Annika)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Annika Pedersen (Annika).

15101938_994749250635693_808149177_oWho are you?

In both real life and Munzee, I’m Annika, and I was born Oct 1976 just in time to enjoy Halloween (if we had it here).

Where in the world do you live?
My postal address is in a small town in Denmark (33,000 in the country, 21,000 in the town).

In fact, the area is double the size of McKinney (where MHQ is located), but we only have 20% of the population. It’s located 60km from Copenhagen.

In my heart, I live in the whole world. My home is in a suitcase. Well… that’s where I feel my home is at least.

How long have you played Munzee?
My profile is almost 2,000 days old, and my first capture was November 2011. Then, Denmark had almost no munzees and I gave up/forgot it… I came back in spring 2013, and I’m still going strong.

How did you find Munzee?
Some other caching geeks mentioned Munzee on a Danish forum, and of course, I created a profile and looked around only to find nothing nearby. I wasn’t sure how to do it then, so…

My sister-in-law had just started in Spring 2013 when she was on a visit, and that’s what made me start again. In face, we are seeing each other much more now that before thanks to Munzee.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
The thing I love most is that I can do it by myself. When I have my wheelchair wheel with helping motor (like the bike with batteries) on, I can drive around myself and cap/deploy without help. Well… some of them 😉 In out town, many/most of them are accessible with my selfie stick if I can’t get them without it.

15102134_994752760635342_1697180555_o

Another thing Munzee has done for me is allow me to see many of my family members more. I hate to sit and drink coffee and just small talk when we are meeting, so getting out and doing something is great. Several (most) of us are in clans (not all in one, though! I don’t want a family clan!), so we can get out and work on our levels together 🙂 Clans are nice – they make you go on and continue.

What is on your wish list?
I love to travel, so I really wish Munzee could make some offline support. In Tokyo, Barcelona, Beijing, and Lisboa, I didn’t have internet – and wasn’t so smart then… so no munzees capped or deployed from me. In Europe, it started getting better, but it was pretty expensive to cross the borders or you have to find a local SIM card, activate it (in a language you don’t understand) etc.. pretty hard 😉

annika1Tell us about yourself!

Well, I’ve chosen to use my regular name as my Munzee name.

I have a disease called Morquio (or the long term is Mucopolysaccharidosis IV). So I look pretty different from “regular” people, BUT I’m lucky… I can use my brain, I can communicate (talk) and my arms work (most of the time). I started to sit for real in my wheelchair in about 2001. Until then, most of my life was walking.

Other hobbies include:
Other hobbies are one other GPS game…

I try to keep my hands on scrapbooking, but not with success all of the time :$ But I use some of my tools to create Munzee stickers and cut them out 😀

On some events, when I have energy and time, I also create gifts for participants (like the glass and houses).

Player of the Week: Derek Barker (eigerman)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Derek Barker (eigerman).

potwWho are you?
Derek Barker – eigerman

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Eccleshill, Bradford, West Yorkshire, UK.

How long have you played Munzee?
Started in September 2012.

How did you find Munzee?
I started playing another game in May 2012 and kept finding QR codes in the containers, but I had no idea what they were as I didn’t have a smartphone at the time. This went on for several months until my son-in-law was out with me one day. He had an iPhone and looked up the details of the QR code. As a result, I joined Munzee, ordered a smartphone, and the rest is history as they say. If I remember correctly, my first day out Munzeeing was also a double point weekend, bearing in mind that there were very few munzees deployed in our area at that time. Needless to say, the fun had started.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
It’s a fun and easy game to play and suitable for all ages. I really like being in the outdoors and have made many new friends whilst playing Munzee. It’s great to go to events and meet players from other parts of the country.

What is on your wish list?
I would love to visit some of the big virtual fields in Europe.

potw-3

Tell us about yourself!
I was born and raised in Yorkshire. I am married to Lesley, and we have 2 children, Clare and Andy who are both married now, and 4 grandchildren. My eldest grandson, Jack, is also a keen Munzee player. I worked in the communication industry for 25 years and then spent 10 years with a computer supply company. I retired early due to ill health, and during my recovery period, I realised that I need to get back outdoors for some much needed exercise. As a result, I started caching, but Munzee soon followed and has remained a firm favourite.

Other hobbies include:
Walking or anything to do with the outdoors, reading mountaineering stories, and model railways.

Any last words?
I would like to say a big thank you to my fellow players for this nomination. We have an amazing team in our local group – Yorkshire Munzee Hunters. I look forward to seeing our group grow and can’t wait for our next event.

Player of the Week: John Wiles (nellybean63)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. image1Who are you?

My name is John Wiles, nellybean63.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Nottingham, England.

How long have you played Munzee?
I have been taking part in Munzee for over 2 years now.

How did you find Munzee?
A friend Carl (ChastGang) introduced me. I remember saying to him, “It’s just scanning things on the back on something. What’s the point of that?” Lol.

From the very start, I have always been very start, I have been very fortunate to be in good clans. I started a team, East Midlands, and was with them for over a year. Then, I decided to just go to different clans that needed a player for a month or so. I was also in longStarSix Shooters for a few months and really enjoyed my time with them. I have made many good friends. I’ve settled back into another good clan Smart Pants, now, with the friend that introduced me to the game.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?

  1. Finding new areas that I would normally never visit.
  2. Meeting up with people again from past events and having a drink with them.
  3. Chasing the new badges that come out.
  4. Watching people walk back and look at what we are up to, looking confused. I’ve even seen someone back into another car whilst looking at what I’ve been doing.

What is on your wish list?

  1. 5000 Deploy badge would be nice.
  2. To get the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Clan badges

Tell us about yourself!
I’m 46 years old and married with an adopted daughter of 25, but she acts more like 16 years old lol

For my job, I’m a field support engineer for ZF services, so I get to travel to car plants all over, both in and out of country.

Other hobbies include:
My two hobbies fall hand in hand with Munzee; I love running and photography. So now, I run, take pics, and do a bit on Munzee along the way. It’s a good excuse to run for a few munzees then run back.

I’m also very fortunate to be able to travel a lot through my job, and personally with my wonderful wife as I just live for my holidays. So I get to run, take photos, and Munzee all over the world.

Any last words?
I would have to say a big thank you to my wonderful wife for putting up with my running and munzeeing. Also, a big thank you to JW Kern for a very surprised nomination. And, of course, a big thank you to all the people at MHQ for all of their hard work.

Always end in a song.

Player of the Week: Michael J Shuda (WRASLN)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Michael J. Shuda (WRASLN).

Who are you?

Michael J Shuda
E*L*M*O The Clown
Mr. Shuda
Coach Shuda
Husband to Stacy Heinrich Layne Shuda

In the Munzee world, I am WRASLN. My Munzee experience and training is thanks to the friends we have met through the group of Minnesota Munzers. (In a TV game show, W R S L N are the free letters in the bonus round… That has NOTHING to do with me.. My vanity license plat says “WRASLN” because I have been a wrestling coach since Forever.)

Where in the world do you live?
…born in the North Woods of Wisconsin
Spent a lifetime as a teacher and coach in small-town Arcadia, WI.

…Now, Munzee hunting out of Faribault, MN and the Twin Cities area.explore-faribault-event-badge

We “live” in Munzee Land… any place we can get a GPS lock.

How long have you played Munzee?
Since July 25, 2014. (But, I have been practicing ALL my life: searching for my keys, phone, toys, etc.)

How did you find Munzee?
Munzee found ME! Stacy found Munzee through PostCrossing.com.. sending and receiving Post Cards from around the world. We played as GreenHeron until she gave me my VERY OWN account. Then, we went to McKinney, TX for the first Bash. That’s the day that I pledged to CoachV that I would be his Assistant Coach.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
Dad trained me to be a Hunter, Tracker, Finder, and Fixer. So it’s the challenge of the hunt: a Pine Tree hide by ASLGIRL, psycho analysis of a hide by Warped6, or tracking GeoMatrix who says “Walk it Baby”.

However, as a coach and a teacher (First, Last, and Always)… it’s meeting and helping people; that’s what I enjoy the most. PLAYING the game is great fun and exercise, but introducing beginners, developing clans, and “Growing the Map” are the most rewarding experiences.

munzee-friends-teepee-tonka-park-l-to-r-stephnewman-peanutandpudding-greenheron-wrasln

What is on your wish list?

  1. A quick and easy way for new friends to start an instant Munzee account. (I hear people talk about “Muggles”… but they look like “New Munzers” to me.)
  2. A quick and easy way to replace a friend’s damaged munzee in the field. (To effect an instant replacement without having to pin down the owner.)
  3. Also, Please include Premium Munzees in the list of “conversion” credits so they are easy to deploy.

Tell us about yourself!
We recently celebrated our 72nd wedding anniversary! (72 MONTHS. We got a late start, so we celebrate often.) Six years ago, I retired to get married. I don’t know how anyone can be married Full Time AND have a job, too!

My whole life had been about Teaching, Coaching, and helping others. (In 2009, I was presented with the National Assistant Wrestling Coach of the Year – Scholastic Division.)

With the opportunities for Munzee in the Twin Cities area, I realized that Munzee could CONSUME my life, so I had to focus my energies. “Clan building” seemed to be a way to help the greatest number of people and to grow the map. It looked like the MN Munzer Mayhem Clan might have room for a coach. Mayhem had a great group of competitive players, but if we recruited TWENTY players, they could sorted into TWO clans with complementary goals. (And THREE clans working together would allow players to trade levels from month to month.)

It was exciting when Mayhem Clan made Super Chuck – Level 5… TheFinder13 needed points, so she chased Warped6 and I as we deployed every munzee we had… She made the level by deploying the LAST greenie we had amongst us! We made it!!

Great disappointment followed 48 hours laters while making the clan rosters for the next month. I “stepped out” of the Mayhem clan to allow someone from the Minnesota Munzers Clan to step up. I WAS LOCKED OUT. There was no time and NO CHOICE, but to start a NEW clan. Calling in “favors” from friends, relatives, and strangers. It can take OVER and HOUR to put a new clan together. Stacy picked out the new name: “Must B QRazy Clan”.

Unfortunately, this scenario has played itself out several times. Fortunately, we now have well over 70 players (7 clans) working together to get as many FREE clan rewards as we can from Munzee!

My next goals are to develop new players in new areas with Munzee 101 and a few other ideas I would like to toy with.

Other hobbies include:
Arcadia Wrestling, Winona Clown Club, Motorcycling, Travel, Hunting, Fishing, Polka Dancing, Coaching, and encouraging.

explore-faribault-event-team-photo-cropped

Any last words?
I admire the founders, developers,  and staff of Munzee.. They have created something that did not exist in the world.. a new activity, a new thought process, a new challenge, and a new culture! A whole group of people now have a chance to tap into talents and skills we hadn’t realized, and interact on a global level. The people of Munzee are me HEROES!

Thank you to my mentors: GreenHeron, GeoMatrix, Warped6, LRGrego, GeoJim, ASLGirl, Hackettgroup, cpassehl23, Lagrac, Wr3n, Rohdej, Siebob, PolkaJen, and 1000 others!!!

Thank you to all of the other players who have touched our lives, especially the new players who are bringing so much excitement and comradery to the game: Minnesota Mosquitoes, Minnesota Nice !, Greenies, Puppies, Must B QRazy, Minnesota Munzers, and MN Munzer Mayhem.

“It’s a game.” And what a GREAT GAME it is!

And thank you to our system of Clans for working togther,

Love,

WRASLN

P.S. I have lost about 50 pounds since we started playing Munzee. We are surrounded by wonderful parks! Many evenings, Stacy takes me walking around a lake or park for about 3 miles. She morphs into a “Munzer-of-the-Night” when we see there is “One MORE Munzee” just ahead!

Thank you, Munzee, for influencing our lives.

Player of the Week: Peter Lovell (Knightwood)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Peter Lovell (Knightwood).

Who are you?

I’m Peter Lovell, known as Knightwood. I wanted a name connected with the area where I live, The New Forest, England. My wife cam up with this name, as The Knightwood Oak is the oldest tree in the New Forest, and she says it’s like me — getting old, rather large, and not much on top. Say no more! — So the name stuck.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Where in the world do you live?
We live in New Milton, a town in Hampshire on the south coast of England very near the New Forest National Park where ponies and deer are often seen roaming around the forest. They have the freedom to go through the villages and cross over roads, so drivers have to take special care when out and about in the area.

Also pleased to say that our former #1 Player in the World, Iain Grant (Pilseyguy), also lives in the area.

img_20150517_114552920_hdr

How long have you played Munzee?
I started playing the game in June 2013, but before that I had been a letterbox hunter for around 25 years here in the New Forest and on Dartmoor in Devon. I also have around a dozen caches hidden around the area.

How did you find Munzee?
This was through my newphew, Adrian Pitkin (The Machman), who now lives with his family in Perth, Western Australia. When they were staying here with his parents in Poole, we did a big cache walk up new Sixpenny Handley in Dorset in an attempt to get 100 in a day. We spotted a munzee on the way round. Adrian knew what these were and told me about it, so I got a new phone, downloaded the app, and was hooked.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
Well, it has taken me to places that I have never visited before, and I have gotten to meet many knew friends who play the game. Since I started playing, I have found munzees on a holiday in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth, and I went on a very wet, long weekend with The Machman in Cologne where I was able to get my First Loser, Lucky 7, and Unlucky 13 badges, so now I still have the big one to get one day. I’ve also taken many trips to London, and one of my last visits got the 100k Day badge.

I have also gotten to meet President Rob along with Louise at the event sin London and Christchurch when he visited the United Kingdom. This photo of me with them plus Matt was taken in front of the road to the Prime Minister’s home at 10 Downing Street before our London “Big Ben” May Meet this year, the day before they did their Rave and Ride Charity Event.

img_20160513_184828279_hdr

I am a member of a clan — Solentcoasters. We all enjoy the game, but with no pressure. I often meet up with some of the clan members, Dicky and Jilly — TwoHoots and NewTwo — on their visits up to the New Forest from Sussex where they live.

I enjoy deploying munzees as well. Most of mine start with the name “Knightwood”. I also have many Topaz Munzees in the forest village of Brockenhurst which now had the world’s biggest Topaz cluster.

What is on your wish list?
Well I’ve passed my 1000 days and am a member of the Millionaire Club, so next target must be to double those numbers. I enjoy the way Rob and his team keep coming up with new ideas to keep the game fresh, so I’m always looking out for their new challenges.

I would like to re-visit Australia with family and friends in Perth and scan all those Mystery Blues at Burns Beach, north of the city. All of my virtuals out there are called “Knightwood’s – Wishing I was Downunder”.

See the Saints win the F.A. Cup at Wembley next May. It’s been 40 years since they beat Manchester United 1-0 to win the Cup.

Tell us about yourself!
I am married to Sheila, and have been retired for 4 years now. I was always told that I would wonder how I had time to go to work, well it’s true. During my working days, I was a chef in hotels around the New Forest area.

Sheila has her horse, Risky, and I help out with any heavy jobs around the stable year, but I prefer to keep my feet firmly on the ground, so a good walk finding munzees helps.

Other hobbies include:
So besides Munzee, I try to play a round of golf once a week with friends, go swimming on the weekends, and a bit of gardening. These all keep me busy.

Big footy fan, too. Got my season ticket at St. Mary’s — home of the SAINTS — SOUTHAMPTON football club. They are doing well, and last season they finished 6th in the Premier League and will have matches in Europe next season, too.
blueprintI do have my own “Pathtag”. If any other players also have their own and would like to swap, please contact me via Munzee messages.

Any last words?
A big thank you to my friends who put my name forward to be POTW, and of course to Rob and his great team over in the USA for giving so much pleasure to so many around the world. Finally, a thank you to all players that put out their munzees for me to find.

Player of the Week: Attila and Csaba Fodor (Attis)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is a father and son duo of Attila and Csaba Fodor (Attis).

20160725_125444_resizedWho are you?
We are Attila and Csaba, son and father, and we play Munzee under the name “Attis” which is a nickname for Attila. (Note: For the remainder of the interview, they are using the designators: CS for Csaba and A for Attila.)

Where in the world do you live?
CS: We live in a residential area of Budapest, Hungary.
A: Look on the map for the Surprise Car Garden made by us. It is near our house.

How long have you played Munzee?
CS: The account was made for Attila in November 2013.

How did you find Munzee?
A: My mom – she is theacher – was at seminary where she found out about Munzee and a few other applications. So, in our family, she has the oldest Munzee account. A few days later, she registered my 20160723_163625_resizedaccount with the username “Attis”.
CS: At the beginning, my wife and son were playing together, and I was laughing from a distance. It was so funny watching them search for munzees and seeing people look at them awkwardly. After a while, when Attila wanted to play more and more and my wife didn’t have much time for playing, I had to go with him as he was only 10 years old at the time and I couldn’t let him go alone. Slowly, I got used to it and then started liking it, too. Seeking Munzees wasn’t strange to me anymore.
A: I was searching the map all the time, and when something new appeared (for example, the Aquamarines), I called my dad and asked him to cap them when he drove home from his office.
CS: Now, we play every day. We have a capture streak of over 580 days. We’re addicted to the game.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
A: I mostly like the food feeling when I cap a new special munzee or when we earn new badges.
CS: I like Munzee for many reasons. Spending a lot of time with my son, moving, walking a lot, meeting new people from all around the world. We like to travel (of course, not only for Munzee). We have captured and deployed in about 20 countries. And also, however Munzee is a game, and like in most games, there is a competition side to it. I like to compete.

What is on your wish list?
A: To visit MHQ, have as many badges as possible, visit as many Virtual Gardens as we can, and to be in the Top 100 players in the world.
CS: Yes, to visit MHQ is a dream which will become a reality soon. We already have airplane tickets to Dallas for Lone Star Bash. Then, to achieve the Top 10 players in the Globetrotters section (with the most physical deploys by country). It’s a pity that, while we were playing Munzee already in 2013, we were not as active at the time. We were in the Bahamas, the US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Island, Saint Marrten and Malta, England, and Bulgaria. We don’t have physical deploys in those countries (just 1-2 captures), so we have to go back eventually.

Staff Note: It was wonderful to meet you both at Lone Star Bash!

20160719_132917_resized

Tell us about yourself!
A: I’m almost 13 now, so I still have a long way in school. I like football (or soccer as you call in the US), racing go-karts, music, and traveling. And I like learning 😉 (This interview will probably be read by my teachers, too, so… you know.) I started high school in September at one of the best schools in Hungary (ranked at 5th in the country).
CS: I’m 45, a husband (I’ve loved my wife, Erika, since ’88 when we were 16), and a father of two. Besides my sone, Attis, we have a daughter named Csenge who, unfortunately, doesn’t like to munzee, but she does help us with Eventzee as a model. I work in the meat business as a salesman, and I travel a lot. I like soccer. I played for 12 years when I was a kid, and I like rock music.

Player of the Week: David Smith (djsmith)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is David Smith (djsmith).

20160717_134024Who are you?

My name is David Smith, Munzee name djsmith (a lot of thought went into that).

Where in the world do you live?
I come from Lake Macquarie, North of Sydney and South of Newcastle AUSTRALIA. It has good weather all year round which is great for munzeeing.

How long have you played Munzee?
I have just completed my first year of munzeeing, and it has gone from capping one or two to being in a clan (Hunter Munzee Hunters). It is a group of local players who aim to push ourselves further each month to achieve higher levels. By having local players, we have helped grow our area quickly, making it more fun.

How did you find Munzee?
A year ago, my son’s cub scouts group had a father day (night) at Rathmines, and we were all instructed to load this funny named “Munzee” app on our phones before arriving. The leader, who had only played Munzee for a week or so, had put out 10 munzees and instructed us (SORT OF) on what to do. We went out into the dark to find them, and two hours later, we had won, and I was very interested. A couple of weeks later, I was in Sydney and decided to cap a couple, and “bisygisy” tracked me down and showed me a few things like turning on the filters. Wow, did Sydney look a whole lot different! (Thanks for your help!) A couple of months later, I was in Sydney again and was tracked down by “GD”. This time, he talked me into joining the clan he was in, and from there on out, I was hooked. I would also like to thank “czechroo” for his help and guidance in the game.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I love meeting other players, listening to their stories, and hopefully learning new things. I love playing the game and working out strategies with the clan. I go out of my way to help other Munzee players when I can, especially new players, as others have done for me. We have a great clan in Newcastle with terrific people in it. We are trying new things all the time. For example, we held a Birthday Event which turned out to be an interesting one with players coming from Victoria. Unfortunately, with the time difference between the USA and Australia, I got the date wrong, so we had a real find the munzee without a map. All went down well and everyone had a good time. We have also tried creating a garden which was fun. You can check that out here.

What is on your wish list?

  1. All filters on by default. I have helped a lot of new players, and not one of them has had them on or know about them. Their eyes just popped out of their heads when they see the area with them on.
  2. I would like to see a new leaderboard with badges, of course. The leaderboard would be for capping and deploying, but no CapOns. Badges for daily, month, and maybe yearly, but not overall. The idea is not to take away from the top players who have acheived a lot in the game but to allow new players to try competing with the top players in capping/deploying on a daily to monthly basis. As people would try to catch the top players, the game would grow.

20160717_132812_001

Tell us about yourself!
I am an office fitout contractor, and I do a lot of traveling around the state for work (and Munzee). I have a wonderful family with two boys that also play Munzee.

Other hobbies include:
Hmmm Eventzee.

Any last words?
I am working on how to get the Victorian Australia Day event next year. There is a big rumour that Rob is coming down under, so it will be the biggest event Australia has ever had. Rob, are you really coming down under????

Thank you for nominating me for POTW. I was very shocked and humbled by the nomination. Looking forward to meeting other players on my Munzee journey!

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. My name is Jennifer Guyer. My username is nyisutter.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in St. Charles, MO, USA, which is just outside of St. Louis.

How long have you played Munzee?
I started playing June 23, 2014.

How did you find Munzee?
Originally, I learned about Munzee when my brother started hunting for codes while we were at the St. Louis Zoo back in the very early days of Munzee. I didn’t have a smart phone at the time, but when I did finally enter the world of smart phones, I asked him, “What was that game you played?” I downloaded the app and have been enjoying the game every since.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
My family and I have always enjoyed scavenger hunts, so Munzee is right up my alley. I love the challenge of earning points and badges and meeting clan goals. I have enjoyed getting to know the local players and playing the game with them. Munzeeing with friends is always more fun. So, of course, I also love attending and hosting events. I also enjoy encouraging and helping new players learn the game and have created a website for our local Munzee community.

I started playing Munzee shortly after learning that I have a rare chronic blood disorder. Munzee has been a great motivator to keep moving and be active despite the extreme fatigue that comes with the illness. Players even helped build a virtual garden near the hospital to give me something to cap after treatment appointments. Munzee players were also my biggest turn out at our last blood drive! (Thank you!)

What is on your wish list?

  1. I would love to see an Emerald Garden in St. Louis! We have a wonderful, ever growing Munzee community.
  2. I would like to see more done with Rovers. Maybe some of the ideas that were initially planned for them. Maybe some more badges that are easier to obtain (though I am closing in on the first one!).
  3. I would like to see Quiz Munzees get a new point structure and maybe some badges so that people little-free-libraryare more motivated to cap them. I love to create themed quiz series, but players rarely cap them.
  4. I hope to be able to travel to more events and munzee rich areas in the future. I got to attend MHQ bash last year and had a lot of fun!
  5. I would love to see the personal special ZeeOps developed! Give me more goals to work toward!

Tell us about yourself!
I am a wife and a mother to three awesome young adults (just graduated the last one from our homeschool this past May) who enjoy scavenger hunts as well and will occasionally accompany me in my crazy Munzee obsession!

I am a childcare worker at our church and am also very involved in a children’s ministry called Awana.

I love to read and recently got to fulfill my dream of being a librarian by opening my very own Little Free Library! Not only do I get to share my love of books, but I get to introduce others to my favorite geo-location games! My
library includes several munzees and a hidden cache, as well as being a part of several other geo games. My library has a small box for payers to exchange munzee stickers with other area players so it is somewhat of a munzee central.

I love to watch hockey, hence my Munzee name and avatar. Let’s go Blues!!

Other hobbies include:
I love to read, watch hockey, travel, maintain my library, hike, camp, hunt for things like munzees, caches (found my 300th cache in McKinney, a CoachV cache), the 250 birthday cakes our city placed for their birthday, and play Eventzee! I love to be outdoors and try to grow things and watch the birds. I am still trying to get the hummingbirds to trust me enough to eat out of my hand feeder.

Any last words?
Thank you to those who nominated me for this great honor! Let’s keep growing the map and having fun! Munzee on!

Player of the Week: Guido Kiefert (teamkiwii)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Guido Kiefert (teamkiwii).

I’m Guido, aka teamkiwii, and I’m married to a real angel (engel19).

Where in the world do you live?
I live in a small village near Tübingen, Germany.

How long have you played Munzee?
My was capture was on February 3, 2013. It was very cold, but sunny.

How did you find Munzee?
During a hike, I discovered a QR code and was curious. Later, I discovered the map with the many trails nearby.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I love being in nature and traveling. Often, we deploy together with MIEZE and REMSTALER. From time to time, we organize great events with COSMO and TRIALBYFIRE. I am proud to be part of the clan “Schwoaba Munzeers players”. Love to all that I cannot mention by name.

Where in the world do you live?
A suburb of Central Florida called Holopaw. It is between St. Cloud and Melbourne, Florida.

How long have you played Munzee?
I think since August 2014. Editor’s Note: It’s actually since May 2014, so even better 😉

How did you find Munzee?
At a Barb and Dale caching event, I saw a lot of people running around scanning things. It was my first time coming across Munzee, but I did not started playing until we heard Dale talking about it. One rainy day, lynne, Mikey and I,  and can’t forget Kimber, our Munzee dog, started playing.

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I enjoy seeing friends at events, and how MHQ keeps it new. And I can’t wait to see what’s new around the corner, like ZeeOps 😉 and i’m thankful to have a great Munzee Clan — “Munzee Warriors”.

What is on your wish list?
‘Wish list’ Mmm maybe make it to an MHQ event.

Tell us about yourself!
I’m a Gunsmith by trade, and I teach concealed weapon classes as well as how to shoot firearms. But when I’m not working, I like to munzee and go different places with my munzeeing partner in crime Lynne aka “loxmudprincess”.
