🎸 Meet the Team Bands 🎭

They’ve tuned their instruments, painted their banners, and sharpened their solos — now it’s time to reveal the four mighty musical factions battling for bardic glory! Whether you’re drawn to thunderous riffs, cosmic beats, enchanted melodies, or highland howls, there’s a band for every bard.

All Musical Melee Mailbox owners will be randomly sorted into teams and receive temporary Player Titles by July 1st at 12:00 MHQ! Who will you fight for?

  • Crimson Chalice — Enchanted troubadours of the enchanted forest, blending fairy-tale harmonies with Renaissance flair. Their show might look like a storybook — but their lute solos are pure legend.
  • Star Sirens — Glam-rocking aliens with otherworldly fashion and synth-infused magic. This intergalactic ensemble dazzles with stage presence and shreds across galaxies with star-powered precision. Sparkles guaranteed.
  • The AXEidents — Dwarven metalheads with axes in hand and amps at max, this band lives for the loudest battle cries and heaviest riffs. If you like your solos scorching and your volume up to 11, you’re in the right pit. GWWAAAAH!!
  • Storm Bound — Viking virtuosos who ride lightning and command the waves with storm-forged licks and electric rhythms. Honor, harmony, and a bit of thunder in every track — they’re the eye of the storm!

🎤 Battle of the Bards 🎶

The curtain rises on the ultimate musical melee showdown! The Battle of the Bards officially kicks off on Tuesday, July 1st at 12:00 MHQ and rocks on until Thursday, July 31st at 23:59 MHQ. During this time, players will earn points for their team by deploying and capturing Musical Melee Mailbox cards — with each card color tied to a specific band. That’s right, your every move on the map helps your band climb the charts (and the competition leaderboard)!

As a reminder, all 31 cards will be delivered at once on July 1st, giving you the power to plan ahead! Coordinate with your bandmates, deploy near busy events, and watch your team’s score soar. Strategic plays are the name of the game — so don’t just cap randomly, cap with purpose! Each card is worth a different number of competition points below:

  • Mailbox owners will receive 8 Drums Cards in their team color

We’ll preview these four poster-style badges below so you can see what you’re working toward. But that’s not all — one exclusive badge will be reserved for members of the winning team! You’ll have to fight your way to the top to see it… and wear it proudly.

The New Dawn Festival returns in full fanfare after its grand debut last year, and we’re bringing the celebration to every corner of the Munzee Kingdom! And what’s a birthday without a mailbox full of surprises? Introducing the all-new Musical Melee Mailbox — a medieval, musical mashup where lutes meet loot and every card you play can change the score. And this time instead of a mech companion, you’ll be joined by a brand-new bardic temporary POB, the Widdl Bard!

How the Musical Melee Mailbox Works

This mailbox is a bit different from our past mailboxes. You will receive ALL 31 Themed Greeting Cards at once on Tuesday, July 1st at/around 12:00 MHQ to deploy at anytime throughout the month! Since this mailbox has a competition tied to it, this will allow you to strategize with your team to plan locations to deploy at various times. Remember to still capture the mailbox each day to maximize the number of points you will earn AND receive other prizes that will be delivered on specific days.

The Musical Melee Mailbox is available for $25 and includes the following:

  • 1 Musical Melee Mailbox to deploy and move around anywhere at anytime!
  • The ability of 1 Daily Capture of the mailbox each MHQ day starting on June 25th or when first deployed, which should help with keeping up your streaks!
  • 31 Mailbox Prize Days starting on July 1st and ending on July 31st, which will deliver the goodies below when captured, including Zeds, Munzees to deploy and more!
  • 24 Themed Greeting Cards to CAPTURE!
    • These are 24 uniquely colored and designed cards used for the Battle Of The Bards competition
    • There are 6 different musical cards per team and 4 different colored teams
  • 31 Themed Greeting Cards to DEPLOY!
    • You will receive an assortment of 31 musical cards from the set above in YOUR team color
    • ALL cards will be delivered together at the same time on July 1st

NEW Widdl Bard Details

Like the Widdl Zombie, the Widdl Bard is no ordinary Widdl — it’s already maxed out at Level 10, so you’ll be raking in those high-tier points right from the start! Plus, you can redeploy the Widdl Bard directly from a Wishing Well for just 25 Stars, just like your other Level 10 Widdlz. As a reminder, this is a temporary POB that will remain on the map for 5 days.

Landing Pads

This Widdl can be spotted on the landing pads listed above every 1 hour or when captured.

This Widdl will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture this Widdl on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Widdl visits you. This Widdl is non-blastable. It will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access this Widdl by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

Well Wisp Scatter Bonus

When this Widdl is captured, it will scatter a Well Wisp nearby to start a trail. These are the same Well Wisps from the Daily Stroll, which will be deployed on the Wishmaster account.

The rising temps can make even the simplest of tasks a chore — but looking at a beautiful watery scene, such as your themed garden designs, can help us feel a little more comfortable. For June, the theme was “Just Keep Swimming” — though beach- and ocean-themed designs have always been popular, we also opened things up to bodies of water and even swimming pools!

We love the use of Peas Evos in combination with various shades of green virtuals to create her tail — the shape of the pea pod on the pin does impart a fish scale effect, which we found very clever! Additional small touches, like the the Virtual Citrine flanked by 3 Carrot Evos on her head, perhaps representing a jeweled hair comb, make this Mermaid a bit fancier than the one we currently have in the game!

This bright pink octopus is quite an impressive size — kudos to everyone who helped to fill it up! The different shades of pink virtuals give the body dimension — as well as the other munzee types, such as Zodiacs, Jewels, Elementals, Flats, and Evos. It’s a great one for triggering scatters, as they will surely be caught by this garden’s tentacles — or its rather bulbous body!

September’s theme will focus on popular fall foods! Think pumpkin spice-flavored everything, delicious baked goods or for the adventurous — a local dish you’d like to introduce us to! We’re sure you’ll make our mouths water!

October’s theme will focus on the classically spooky! Think ghosts, skeletons, pumpkins, and horror icons! We dare to be scared — but make sure your designs are still family-friendly for the younger players!

🔥🏝️ Secret ZeeOps – Fire Fight (June 2025)

Can you save the enchanted forest from going up in flames?! An ALL NEW Secret ZeeOps is now available in the ZeeOps Hub for the usual cost of 1,500 Zeds until 23:59 MHQ on July 31st. Remember, if you’ve purchased a Secret ZeeOp, you can complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

Agents, an ominous black cloud has settled over an island in the Bermuda Triangle. Local flora and fauna are succumbing to the effects of breathing in noxious fumes — even without an obvious burning fire, the lack of oxygen is choking them. Your mission is to find the origin of the smoke, extinguish the accompanying blaze, and assist in any relief efforts for the island residents.

Completing a series of missions will unlock new levels in this operation. There are three levels, each with five missions. If you conquer every mission in Operation: Fire Fight, you’ll earn a hot new badge, the NEW FL4M3 Guardian (info below), and more exciting rewards listed in the app!

Like the other Munzee Mechz, FL4M3 Guardian is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 15 times.

Ready for liftoff? The wait is over—you now have a chance to deploy in the very first public Bouncing Virtual Gardens (BVGs)! This is a historic moment in the world of Munzee, and we’re inviting YOU to be part of it. In case you missed our introductory blog post, BVGs are uniquely designed gardens composed of Bouncing Virtual Colors (BVCs)—a new Temporary Virtual type that will bounce around the map once the garden is full! Each BVC will remain active for 6 weeks before it archives, so you’ll want to act fast if you hope to secure a spot in this one-of-a-kind launch.

🎈 Hot Air Balloon Launch Schedule

We’re kicking off the first wave of BVGs with four colorful Hot Air Balloon designs! Each garden will launch at a different time to give players around the world a fair shot at deploying. A single Bouncing Virtual pin costs $5.00, and each player may purchase up to 2 BVCs per garden. Remember that you can earn a badge for capturing all the pins in a BVG, each shown below:

DEADLINE: Since BVGs must be full before they can start to bounce, we will automatically fill all remaining open BVG spots above with staff account deploys after this Thursday, June 19th at 10:00 MHQ! These Hot-Headed Munzees are FlashMOBs just like the Cursed Munzees from last year. This means that the Hot-Headed Munzees are actually a “mask” applied on top of a host munzee: similar to a bouncing munzee, but once capped, they do NOT bounce anywhere else. You have “removed” the mask. All Hot-Headed Munzees will have these new types placed on top of them – only the first to capture on each type will be able to get them! So hurry and rush to capture them before others do!

Special Scatter Details

Upon capturing a Hot-Headed Munzee, up to 3 Hot-Headed Wisps may drift nearby. This is the curse’s last attempt to cling to the map—if it can’t hold onto its original host, it will try to spread its hot-headed affliction through these lingering Wisps! Cap them quickly before the anger spreads any further!

🌼 Catch a Bouncing Virtual Garden at an Event Near You! 🎉

What are Bouncing Virtual Gardens (BVGs)?

Exactly what they sound like — a group of Munzee pins arranged to create a specific design, which bounce around to different locations on the Munzee Map! To start with, we’ve created BVGs with a new type resembling Virtual Colors, which we’ll call “Bouncing Virtual Colors” or “BVCs“. Here are some important things to know about them, which are not covered in other sections:

  • Bouncing Virtual Colors are Temporary Virtual types — they will bounce around the map for 6 weeks after the garden is filled, then archive.
  • The point values for BVCs are as follows:
    • Deploy: 50
    • Capture: 50
    • CapOn: 50
  • Unlike regular Virtual Colors, BVCs CANNOT host bouncers — since they are bouncing themselves, it would be way too messy to allow them to host other munzee types!
    • Related to this, BVCs are also NOT magnetizable — we wouldn’t want you to waste your Virtual Magnets!
  • BVCs CAN be blasted — if the garden will bounce soon, this will help you secure the badge for capturing all the garden pins (more info below)
  • You can also see and capture your own BVCs, so even if you deploy in a BVG, you can still capture the entire garden, including your own pins!
  • NOTE – ALL of this information may change in the future, as we’re still testing how all of these behave.

Since Bouncing Virtual Gardens (BVGs) are such a brand new feature, we’re excited to launch them with a special mini test! Keep your eyes peeled for the Bouncing Rainbow Garden—our very first BVG that’s now bouncing around the map. You might spot it at Munzee Events or even at popular Munzee locations near you, giving you the chance to capture its colorful pins and get in on the fun!

Our vision is to eventually allow players to deploy their own pins in BVGs, just like in our other pop-up gardens—but with even more CapOn potential since these gardens travel the map! Plus, we’re hoping to nominate some of the most creative player-designed gardens to become official bouncing gardens, letting us highlight the awesome designs our community creates. For now, though, we’re starting with this test garden to gather valuable feedback and see how players like this new feature. Let us know what you think and what you’d like to see next—your input will help us make BVGs even better!

Where do BVGs bounce to?

At launch, BVGs will bounce to areas near Munzee Events! Of course, as Munzee Events don’t happen every day, when there are no events taking place, the BVG will randomly bounce to other areas on the map. Check our Discord group to see if Rob is looking for suggestions! 😉

When do BVGs bounce?

The amount of time the BVGs stay at a location will be randomized with no guaranteed minimum or maximum. Some locations may host the BVG longer than others so always be on the lookout!

If you’ve found a BVG on the map, you can tap on one of the pins to check how much time you have left to capture it. A purple timer banner should appear under the Munzee Details panel, similar to the gold timer banner you see with other bouncing types:

How can I find a BVG on the map?

We’ve placed BVGs on their own map layer — you can find a new filter on the main Munzee Filters screen (grouped with all the Deploy Mode filters) called “Bouncing Gardens”. Activating this filter will show purple radius circles around the BVG pins.

You can also use the individual BVG filter in the [All Filters] –> [Virtuals] –> [Places] section:

As for the Munzee Website, we’ve added a filter to the [Advanced] tab:

Who can create BVGs? Who can deploy in BVGs?

As we’re still learning about the impact this feature will have on the game, at launch BVGs will only be created by MHQ. However, we’re definitely considering the possibility of opening it up to players as well!

As for deploying in them — yes, you can in the near future! Just like any of our other MHQ-owned Gardens, you can purchase a spot in BVGs, which will deploy a munzee within the garden on your account. Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming announcement to claim your spot in our very first Bouncing Virtual Gardens! For now, be on the lookout for our first test Bouncing Rainbow Garden.

Why did you create BVGs?

For years, players have been creating their own permanent gardens near event locations.

Similarly, ever since the creation of Greeting Cards, players have been using them to deploy near event locations as well.

Add to that the magic of bouncers, and to us, the BVG was the obvious next step!

Though BVGs are made of temporary pins, we think they’ll be worth your while to deploy in, as they’ll be bouncing around to Munzee Events all over the world! More players will have the chance to capture your pins compared to those in a regular garden.

On the opposite side, as a capper, you may live in an area that does not have any gardens nearby — now, with BVGs, there’s a chance that a garden will travel to you!

Anything else I need to know about BVGs?

When you capture ALL the pins in a BVG, you’ll earn a special badge! If you’ve deployed in the BVG, do not worry — you’ll still be eligible to earn the badge! Here’s what the badge frame will look like — just imagine a beautiful garden design inside the circle:

🥱🌳 Bored of Greenies? Drink a Transform Tonic! 🧪✨

Last year we introduced a new line of Potion Munzees and we’re thrilled to unveil the latest addition to our magical arsenal: the Transform Tonic! This special potion is a game-changer—literally! When activated, it will magically transform the next Greenie you attempt to capture into a completely different random Physical Munzee type, like an Elemental Mystery or Gaming Munzee.

Imagine turning a simple Greenie into a Prize Wheel with the spin of fate! Think of it as a Master of Disguise with a powerful twist—this time, your captures count towards that type’s challenge requirements. The Greenie then returns to the map so you don’t miss out on that daily capture (Premium Member perk). With the Transform Tonic, you’re not just brewing up a boost—you’re crafting your own adventure!

Transform Your Gameplay!

When you deploy a Potion, its effect will automatically be activated for you, and the same goes for other players when they capture it as well! Here is what each Potion does:

  • Transform Tonic: the next Greenie you capture will transform into another random Physical Munzee type!
    • Helpful Hint: Transform Tonic = T for Transform
  • NOTE – the pool of possible Physical Munzee types Greenies will transform into may change over time! So you’ll never know what you may find.

Potions will remain on the map until they have been captured 3 times. After that, the magic will be all used up! Each player who captures the potion will enjoy the same effect as the brewer.

The point structure for Potions is as follows:

  • Deploy: 50 points
  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

Magic System

As Potions are Temporary Virtuals, many of the same rules apply to them. For example:

  • Potions are visible on the Temporary Layer of the map
  • Deployers CANNOT capture their own Potions — this is why the effect is automatically applied on deploy
  • Players CANNOT capture the same Potions more than once
  • Potions will be archived when a condition is met — as mentioned above, the condition is 3 captures

However, there are also some rules unique to Potions:

  • They are NOT blastable
  • Players can only have 1 Potion active at a time — if they attempt to deploy or capture another Potion Munzee with one already active, the app will display an error message
    • However, Potions DO stack with Boosters AND Double Point Weekends if they are active, as well as Rover Treats
  • Potions DO NOT expire, and will remain active until applied to an appropriate deploy or capture
  • Potions DO apply to deploys done via the Munzee Website (all methods — via the Map page, direct editing of the munzee, Redeem Store, etc.) and via the Freeze Tag Store (i.e. Emeralds, purchased bouncers)
  • Potions DO NOT apply to auto-deploys (i.e. Evo Bouncers, scatters) as the owner has no control of when those are deployed
  • Potions DO NOT apply to Socials, Universals and Personals
  • When you use a Potion of Plenty and capture a type with multiple captures (for example Skyland or Timeshare) then it will only triple the first capture – meaning only the Skyland itself, not any of the bouncers.

Badges

There are currently 2 badge lines for Potions – 1 for deploying each type, and 1 for capturing each type. You can see what the badges for the Transform Tonic look like below:

The forecast is in and it’s raining cats and dogs this June! Flat Murray and the Flat Cats will be scattering all manner of toys, and we’ve got some truly purr-fect NEW Greeting Cards that are sure to have you wagging your tail. Read on to learn more!

Chew Toy Cleanup!

This year for International Corgi Day, we wanted to mix things up! With the paw-pularity of the Purrito Card we thought it would be fun to feature both animal-themed Flats! From NOW through June 8th, the Flat Murray and Flat Cats will be scattering pet toys when captured. Will you be able to collect them all and earn a special badge for this event?!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Tuesday, June 3rd at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, June 8th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Murray, up to 3 different Dog Toys may be scattered nearby! Similarly, when you capture Flat Cats, up to 3 different Cat Toys may be scattered nearby!

As with other Flat Scatters, the Pet Toys will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers / Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These pet toy scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Pet Toys are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points
