Salty Dog Specials!

Arghhh…arf? Ahoy there, scally-wags! We have a question… what’s better than dogs? PIRATE DOGS! Set sail with our NEW Salty Dog specials! You’ll encounter all kinds of piratey pooches, can you bark-lieve it? Starting NOW, you can try your luck at following these dastardly dogs to treasure until September 24, 2023 at 23:59 MHQ.

Two different Base specials will bounce around the map, the physical Mutt Map and the virtual Chewy Compass, as seen above.

Salty Dog Specials

These seafaring specials will will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 1500 Mutt Maps and 1500 Chewy Compasses. They will bounce around on the map every 3 hours or when captured. Capture either to start a scatter trail! The first scatter is guaranteed, then the rest only have a chance to scatter from the previous one. You must capture all 7 Salty Dog scatters to find the buried treasure!

Both of the Salty Dog specials will be worth 150 points for the Capture and 50 points for the CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! Mutt Map will be attracted to Physical Magnets, while Chewy Compass will be attracted to Virtual Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

One you cap either Salty Dog special, you will follow the trail of Salty Dog scatters and capture each member of Captain BarkBeard’s crew to find treasure beyond yer wildest dreams! Legend tells of a Crossbones treasure chest, filled with Zeds for whoever opens it! The first pooch you can find is the lovable Cabin Good Boy, check him out above, but who knows what other scally-waggers ye’ll find along the trail!?

Dirty Dog Scatter

And be on the look out… all of these pirate pooches have a chance of scattering their messy friend, the Dirty Dog! He may be a little stinky, but he does have the chance of awarding you one Rover Treat – so don’t throw him in the pound just yet!

We’ve created 6 NEW Badges for you to earn via specific gameplay actions! We’ll show you the first badge and keep the rest a secret. It’s up to you to figure out the requirements for the other badges – good luck!

Ahoy there Flat RUM Scatters!

Yo ho, yo ho – a pirate’s life for me! Now, pirates may be known to be quite devious – but they had one thing going for them, their love of RUM! And, coincidentally National Rum Day is today, August 16, so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to celebrate our beloved Resellers with some Flat RUM Scatters! Starting NOW until Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 23:59 MHQ, Flat RUMs will temporarily scatter 1-3 Pirate Wares!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Wednesday, August 16 at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, August 27th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture Flat RUMS, up to 3 Pirate Wares may be scattered nearby!

And as for any good Treasure Chest, the Two Dimensional Treasure has a chance of rewarding you with Zeds! Shiver me timbers!

The Pirate Wares Flat scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat RUM owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These Virtual scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

Flat Disc Scatters are BACK With a NEW Badge!

National Disc Golf Day is coming up this Saturday, so you know what that means… Flat Disc Scatters are BACK! Cap Robbie’s Flat Disc Golf Basket and watch the discs fly! Keep reading for more details!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Friday, August 4th at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, August 13th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Disc Golf Basket, up to 3 Discs may be scattered nearby!

The Discs will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Disc Golf Basket owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These disc scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Discs are as follows:

Munzee Backend Updates

MUNZEE BACKEND UPDATE- Aug 8th: We are moving forward with launching the update Wednesday, August 9th at 10:00 MHQ. Please note that for the time being Munzee Event Packages have been removed from the store for testing purposes. Check the Munzee Status page for updates and subscribe to receive a notification when everything is back online: https://status.munzee.com/

For many months now our team has been tirelessly working on a game-wide backend update that we hope will allow us to take Munzee to all new heights! It’s become important to establish a strong foundation so we can build an ecosystem that allows for growth, sustainability and a more secure experience for players new and old. 

The new backend update will begin on either Tuesday, August 8th or Wednesday August 9th at 10:00 MHQ, but if that changes we will announce specific dates and times by 15:00 MHQ on Monday August 7th. We expect that there will be downtime for a minimum of a few hours while these changes are being made. This means that both the Munzee app and website will be inaccessible during this time. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Players will need to plan to download the latest update from the app stores to continue playing after the new backend update has gone live. You will be required to reset your password and login using your email address instead of your username in this latest version. If you do not see the reset password email please check your junk folder before reaching out to Support. We lined out these details in our previous announcement HERE but we want to reiterate the importance of this step! This will be your LAST chance to adjust your email address before this change goes live if you haven’t already updated it yet.

Once the backend update is finished, we will be monitoring gameplay to make sure everything is working as expected. If players notice any issues please visit https://status.munzee.com/ or the Munzee Discord channel for that latest information. If you do not see a known issue listed you may reach out to Munzee Support at support@munzee.com. 

Although we have turned over every stone internally, and worked with beta testers externally, there can be unforeseen experiences once everything is live. Because of this it is possible the game could be offline through Wednesday, August 9th. This is obviously not ideal, but we hope to have this wrapped up before the end of the week and if the worst case scenario leads us into Thursday or Friday down times we will adjust monthly gameplay accordingly. If any issues do cause unexpected outages for more than 3 hours during a single day, that day will be covered as a blackout day to avoid breaking any streaks.

This update will also impact the Munzee website, calendar, and store, so please be patient as some features are still being worked on. We don’t expect any of this to drastically alter your gameplay experience, but some areas may not be working to full capacity immediately.

Many, many hours have gone into this project and our whole team has worked hard to identify the best time to make this change. With so many active players this is a tough needle to thread, so we appreciate all understanding, and this is ultimately for the good of the game as a whole. Thank you all for your continued passion and cheers to the future of Munzee!

August 2023 Skin: Elephant Hedge

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into August with your desired Hedges! The skin for completing your July capture streak (and the corresponding badge), which is the Lion Garden Hedge shown below, will be awarded in early August. But, we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store for next month!

July Hedge Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Hedge yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $6.

How to have a permanent Hedge on your account next year:

  • Own at least 8 Hedges by the end of the year
    • Each month, the price of a Hedge will decrease by $1.
    • However, players can only purchase 1 Hedge every 28 days.

Also, don’t forget that Reseller Garden Hedges have arrived!  These unique munzee types are only available for purchase from participating Munzee Resellers, so shop now!

What Hedge Skin can you look forward to earning in August? The Elephant Garden Hedge! Like the other hedges, the Elephant Garden Hedge is a temporary POB that will remain on the map as long as players with permanent Garden Hedges continue to use it.

  • Overall deploy badges — the more hedges you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned hedge!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many hedges as you can find!

August 2023 Clan Wars Requirements

It’s almost August! You’ll find all the latest details to our clan requirements and rewards in the clan section of our app. It is possible that we could update clan requirements prior to August 3 and reserve the right to do so. The final requirements and rewards will always be shown in the app.
We plan some scheduled maintenance to occur during August. We will announce it in advance and adjust clan requirements as necessary if there is any substantial downtime for gameplay.

We recommend the CuppaZee app and website for additional tracking of clan stats and daily gameplay!

August ClanPak

There is a limit of one per player per product/month. You can purchase the August ClanPak HERE! This is NOT a subscription program.

Level 1

Individual

  • at least 5 days of activity
  • at least 6,000 total points

Clan: in addition to the above individual requirements

  • at least 60,000 total points

August Badges

Your Clan can earn monthly badges to earn for reaching distinct levels of Clan Wars each month. You won’t be able to earn a badge until the entire clan has reached the specified level. There will be a total of 6 badges available in August. The first badge will appear as follows:

Bonjour! Lou and the other Internationelles are BACK this year celebrating the second Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift! How exciting is that?! And to celebrate, Flat Lou scatters are BACK for you to cap! Allons-y! From NOW until July 30th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Lou up to 3 French Foods may be scattered nearby! If you capture a Fancy Flat Lou, up to 3 Champagne Bottles may be scattered nearby! Read on to learn more!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Sunday, July 23rd at 00:00 MHQ through Sunday, July 30th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Lou, up to 3 French Foods (Grapes, Wedge of Cheese, Baguette) may be scattered nearby! Similarly, when you capture a Fancy Flat Lou, up to 3 Champagne Bottles may be scattered nearby!

The Foods and Champagne Bottles will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Lou or Fancy Flat Lou owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

We’ve added Fancy Flat Lou back to the online store!

The only store limit will be up to one per variant per player account, meaning you can buy all three, but not more than one of each.

In other words, each player is allowed to purchase one of each Fancy Flat Lou variant per account.

Secret ZeeOps – Operation: Roll Reversal! (July 2023)

Huzzah, fair Agents! An ALL NEW Secret ZeeOps is now available in the app ZeeOps Hub for the usual cost of 1,500 Zeds. For now, it is available for purchase NOW until 23:59 MHQ on August 31. If you’ve purchased a Secret ZeeOp, you will be able to complete it and collect rewards even after it is no longer available for purchase.

Pray thee, listen closely… we’ve received reports of a number of Zeecret Weapons failing in the field due to exposure to an ancient 12-sided diamond found in a hidden cache of Clan Weapons. Dear Agent, harness the energy of the magical dodecahedron diamond and journey into an ancient world of magic and monsters! Complete a variety of missions to unlock levels to complete the Operation. If you complete ALL the missions in Operation: Roll Reversal!, you’ll receive the fantastical badge below, along with the Runed Table Mech (more info below!) and various other rewards listed in the app!

There are 3 levels. Level 1 has 4 missions, Level 2 has 4 missions, and Level 3 has 4 missions. Each level ends with more prizes.

NEW Mech Details

Like the other Munzee Mechz, Runed Table is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until it has been captured 15 times.

He will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Runed Table by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When Runed Table is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Runed Staffs on the Mech owner’s account.
