A Message From Louise Regarding Events

Some events announcements coming to you live from Louise in London….

Event Indicator
Most of you have probably already seen the lovely pink Event Indicator pin. This is included in the basic event package, puts your event on the Munzee map and gives you an extra special icon to cap at your event. Submit your coordinates for it when you submit your event at https://calendar.munzee.com/submit/.

Multiple Host Badges
Many of you have hosted multiple events. I wanted to give you a little something to recognise that. There are 2 brand new badges for hosts that have hosted official events 5 and 10 times. To get these badges please email me at louise@munzee.com with your player name as the subject and give me the 5 or 10 calendar links and event numbers e.g. https://calendar.munzee.com/LONDONROBBED/Event25. Only official events with events packages and events that have already happened please.

Great Expectations for Christmas Parties this December!

We love how you joined in with our birthday celebrations in July and we’d love you to get festive this December! We have various packages available for events throughout the whole of December and the theme is a Charles Dickens Christmas. Lots of badges, new stuff and fun up for grabs. Submit your event on the calendar and choose which level of event you’d like, each one earns a different badge and stickers / prizes can be added to any event:

The Tiny Tim (the basic event)
The Christmas Cracker (Tiny Tim plus temporary specials eg MVMs, virts, double points)
The Artful Dodger (Christmas Cracker plus badge & icon)
The Full Turkey Dinner (The Artful Dodger + Eventzee)

I am also introducing 2 new fun options for the Christmas Parties:

Lucky Dip. This is an add on to any package that will make 1 of the event munzees magic. When a player caps it they will receive a present. It may be from Christmas Past, Present or Future! Father Christmas will be getting his own Munzee Garden too….
Dodgy Jumper Competition. Feel free to wear your finest festive wear to the party, after the event, the host will submit the name of the winner and a photo. This is free to all events but limited to 1 winner per event and the prize is a badge and a place in the Dodgy Jumper Hall of Fame.

I’m really excited about all of this and I wanted to thank you all for your involvement in Munzee Events. Let me know what’s working in events, what we should add or do differently. Important Information Regarding Munzee 3.0 and iOS 9

Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 16th, Apple will be releasing iOS 9 to the public. The framework for the current Munzee app WILL NOT work properly with iOS 9. We currently have an update in review to fix these errors. Apple, however, is not accepting requests to expedite app reviews because of the high influx of apps being submitted to the App Store. They have replied to our request, though, stating that they are reviewing apps as quickly as possible. We suggest that you not update to iOS 9 until the new Munzee update is available if you want it to continue working properly and see the changes we have made.

We realize this is not ideal, however we have been constrained by our framework provider and the Apple review process. We expect the update to be available soon and will notify you when it is released. Thank you for your continued support, and grow the map!

Munzee 3.0 is Here!

This past year has brought quite a few changes in the Munzee Universe. Not only has Team Munzee grown but we’ve also grown our company to include new apps and ventures. Through it all, we never lost track of our core. Our company, and family, is built on the Munzee app and community. We’ve spent an extremely large amount of time and energy planning, designing, building, and refining the Munzee 3.0 update, and now, we’re ready to release it to the world.

The Munzee 3.0 app is not just an update, but a complete redesign intended to improve the experience for you, the player. Some of the changes include:

No more Home Screen. Loading the app now takes you to the most important screen, the map!
A new profile page that provides all of your information in one place
An improved messaging system that provides real-time communication and notifications
An in-app leaderboard section that provides detailed and up-to-date information

We’ve added many new premium features to this fancy app as well.

Removal of ads – can be turned on/off under settings in app
ADVANCED FILTERS
Multi User Login (up to 3 users)
Daily Leaderboard with almost real-time stats
Upgraded options to show up to 2000 munzees on map
Titles
Ability to add pictures at location of Munzee (upcoming badge series to be earned)

In order to give more people access we are lowering the price of the premium membership until 11:00AM September 4, 2015 from $30 to $23. iOS users will see Munzee 3.0 as an update in the App Store over the next 1-24 hours. Android users will see Munzee 3.0 as a NEW app in the Google Play Store. Last, but not least, we’d like to thank everyone who helped and was involved with Beta testing the Munzee 3.0 app. Your feedback was extremely important in making the app what it is.

Translators Needed!

Are you interested in helping Munzee translate the 3.0 app into your language? We need your help! We are looking for up to 5 individuals to complete this work over the next 7-10 days. If you have a little spare time, a love for Munzee, and the ability to translate from English to your language please let us know! Email info@munzee.com with the subject “Translate”. Include your name, Munzee username, and language you would like to translate to in the body of the email. We will offer compensation in the form of credits and virtuals based on timely completion of the project. Thanks in advance!

Virtual Emerald Garden Locations

The official list of new Virtual Emerald Gardens is here. Along with the launch of these new gardens, we have also increased the capture radius of all Virtual Emeralds. You only need to be within 1500 feet (500 meters) of the virtual emerald in order to capture it. This will allow for all pins to be hand capped and not require blast capture. If you’d like to see all of the official gardens in one location you can visit www.munzee.com/gardens. Each garden has a virtual exclusion zone built in to protect the integrity of the design, however physical munzees are still able to be deployed in the area.

New Emerald Gardens

With the release of the Family Jewels badge, Team Munzee realizes not everyone has had the chance to cap or deploy a Virtual Emerald Munzee due to the limited number of gardens. We want to make sure everyone has the chance to do so. August 14th, we will be releasing Virtual Emerald Munzees for sale in 10 gardens across the world. The locations of these gardens have been chosen to spread the Munzee love as far as we can. They range from popular Munzee destinations to areas that had large presence during Birthday Month thanks to dedicated birthday party hosts. Specific locations will be revealed tomorrow, but the countries of the new gardens are as follows:

United States
Netherlands
Germany
UK
Czech Republic
Hungary
Australia
One special garden is multi-national

Sale Details

Instead of selling pins to each garden, we’ve randomized the pins and will be selling them all together. For example, if you purchase two pins, one may be in Germany while the other is in Australia. This is to spread out ownership of the gardens and give players different opportunities for cap on points and locations. The Emerald pins will be sold in three waves. The first wave will begin at 9am MHQ time for Premium Members, and all players will be able to purchase at 10am MHQ time. The second wave will begin at 2pm MHQ time for Premium Members, and all players will be able to purchase at 3pm MHQ time. The third wave will begin at 5pm for ALL PLAYERS. There will be a limit of 5 pins per player. We ask that you be patient while trying to access the Munzee Store. Large numbers of server requests at once can lead to issues while checking out. If you have trouble completing checkout, keep trying. The link for the pins will be found in the family jewels category https://store.munzee.com/Family-Jewels/, and will be live tomorrow at 9am MHQ time. All jewels in the store will be available at this time.

The Nomad Munzees Have Escaped

Every munzee type has it’s own personality. Greenies are the dependable ones, always there for you and providing constant support. Mysteries are the wildcards, rarely the same but always fun. The gems are ever perfect and very rare. Then, of course, there are the specials. Those guys are erratic. Sometimes even Team Munzee has a hard time figuring them out. We let them loose every once in a while, but they always come back to us to prepare for their next release. There’s one group, however, that has escaped, and this time, they’re not coming back.

Today, 10 Nomad Munzees escaped into the wild. Instead of trying to reign them back in, we’re going to let them roam around. The problem is that
they are kind of slow. They need you to help them along their journeys. How? We’re glad you asked.

These 10 Nomads will be bouncing all over the world, 5 on greenies and 5 on regular virtuals, Mystery Virtual Munzees, and white MVMs. They use so much energy to travel across the world so quickly that they need to rest on their host munzees for 12 hours. If you capture them, however, they can go instantly. In return for your help, you’ll be rewarded with 100 capture points and the host of the munzee that they’re staying on will be rewarded with 20 capture on points. Don’t be alarmed when you see these guys out in the wild. They just want to travel and see the world. We’re going to let them, and you should help them out.

MHQ Bash 2015 Tickets Now Available!

MHQ Bash 2015 will take place on October 9-11, 2015 at MHQ in Downtown McKinney, Texas. This IS NOT the weekend of McKinney Oktoberfest. Instead, this will be hosted the weekend of “Second Saturdays” in Downtown McKinney. These events center around art, music, and wine, so MHQ Bash will take on a similar theme.

There will be four tiers of tickets ranging from free to “All-Access”. Early bird prices are available until September 1st. Prices will go up at 5pm CST on the 1st and will be available until October 7th at 5pm CST. Even if you are only planning on using the free entry, you MUST register for the event. Giveaways will be limited for those who choose to register at the door.

The Jewels Are Complete

We’ve periodically released new Munzee Jewels to our collection over the past two years. Now, the final jewel is ready to make it’s appearance. Along with that jewel comes, of course, a badge.

We’re very happy to announce the newest and final jewel, the Amethyst. The Amethyst is a virtual jewel that is slightly different than others. The Amethyst CANNOT be captured using a blast cap. Also, unlike other virtual munzees, you have to be within 150 feet to capture the Amethyst. An Amethyst will be credited to accounts of users who subscribe to the August MunzPak.

Of course with the completion of a Munzee type line, a badge should follow. We’re also releasing the Family Jewels badge today. To earn this badge, you must capture OR deploy at least one of each of the six types of jewels:

Diamond (available in the Munzee Store)
Ruby (limited availability)
Aquamarine (available in Munzee Store)
Topaz (only available in MunzPak)
Virtual Emerald (only available as part of Official Munzee Gardens)
Virtual Amethyst (currently only available in MunzPak)

Munzee 3.0 Beta Update

Thanks to everybody who tested Beta 1 of the Munzee 3.0 app. We are very excited about the next beta which will be released on Friday, July 31, 2015 at 10am MHQ time. Beta 2 will be active until the following Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10am MHQ time. After that, you’ll be unable to use Beta 2. We disable the beta so that we can lock down features and provide a better product.

If you had Munzee 3.0 Beta 1, you don’t have to do anything further. You will receive an email when we release Beta 2, and it will be available for you to download. If you DID NOT sign up for Beta 1, you can sign up now via the links below, and you’ll receive an email when we release Beta 2.

We are also going to re-open user feedback. Please only leave feedback that is relevant to this beta. We realize that many of you have suggestions for new features, but at this stage in the Beta process, we are looking for feedback regarding current features in the app. We’d especially love feedback on the filter section of the app. Please go to http://munzee.uservoice.com to leave feedback.
