Introducing the NEW Munzee Logo!

We are proud to announce that alongside the release of Munzee 4.0 beta, we are officially launching an all new Munzee logo.

For seven years the Munzee logo has continued to evolve, but much like the game itself the focus has always been on the Greenie icon. Greenies are the backbone of the Munzee gameplay experience. These pins bridge the gap between our real world gaming arena and the technology that makes it happen. The Munzee logo holds a place in the hearts of many of our players, and certainly of our team. We all wear it like a badge of honor on stickers, patches, and shirts across the world. This new version is simply an evolution of the concept that has brought us all together.

The new logo features a new font and perhaps most notably an updated version of the pin icon. We have replaced the traditional rounded GPS pin with a square design, which is modeled after our QR code game pieces. The new icon represents a merger of the QR code and GPS pin. As two individual icons these represent key functions of Munzee’s gameplay; together these represent the game itself.

The redesign of the Munzee pin icon also represents a practical gameplay function. In the newest version of the app all in-game munzee designs have been changed to reflect the difference between physical and virtual munzees. Moving forward, all physical munzees will be represented by square icons to signify that they are QR code stickers players can locate in the real world. All virtual munzees will retain the rounded pin shape and feature a prominent “V” marking.

Many of you may be asking, why change what works? Why mess with a symbol the community has gathered behind for years? We’re happy you asked. The decision to redesign the logo, in part, was based around the merger of Munzee Inc. and Freeze Tag Games last October. The previous version doubled as a logo for both the game of Munzee and the company that developed it.

When a brand tries to identify as both a company and a game, it becomes difficult to balance the professionalism of the business with the creativity of the gameplay experience. After the merger we were very aware of the need to focus on the Munzee brand and define what that means. Our hope is that this new logo embodies the adventure, discovery and whimsical experience of playing Munzee.

Our purpose in announcing the new logo now is so we can have everything prepared by the time the new app launches. You’ll see the new logo begin to rollout to the website over time as we get closer to the public release of the app. All of the new logo and pin shapes will not be available on version 3, so stay tuned for more info regarding 4.0’s release soon! Selected Beta testers will be notified shortly regarding how to begin the download process, so bear with us as we begin that rollout.

We’re excited to announce a point increase on Scatter Munzees, which will go into effect at 00:01 MHQ on September 13!

The new point structures are as follows:

Scatter Munzee Points:

Deploy- 45 points
Capture- 45 points
CapOn- 40 points

Scattered Munzee Points:

Capture- 60 points
CapOn- 20 points

Need to stock up on Scatters? Now’s the time! Scatter Munzee credits are now on sale for $1 each in the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can also purchase discounted Generic Munzees as well in case you have some credits you need to deploy! 50 packs of Generic Munzees are now on sale for $4.50.

Alongside the point update players will be able to capture Scattered Munzees on their own munzees as well! The radius of scatter has also been reduced to 2500 feet.

Announcing Retired Account Physical Munzee Archival

In our continued effort to expand opportunities to new players, and keep the map full of Munzees that can be captured, we will be taking the next steps in inactive account archival. Starting at 00:01 September 17, 2018 we will begin archiving some physical munzees for all accounts with no activity in the past 720 days. These accounts will now be considered “Retired” unless there is some sort of activity between now and the 17th.

The physical munzees that will be archived are those created by individual players, not official MHQ stickers with generic codes, with no activity in the past 180 days. If you would like to keep munzees active in your area please cap them before this time. The purpose of this initiative is to open up spots for new players to deploy and also to uphold maintenance on game pieces that may be missing or have been weathered down. This ideally should help with bouncing specials, Myths and Nomads as well.

We will also make Recycles active Thursday September 13 at 10:00 MHQ through Saturday September 15 at 10:00 MHQ. This will better help you see old munzees in risk of being archived. We do not want to keep Recycles active the entire weekend though, so you can still get the munzees in Jewel form if you would like for September Clan Wars requirements.

Now Accepting Munzee 4.0 Beta Testing Applications!

Howdy Munzeers!

We have been avidly working on the latest version of Munzee and want to get your feedback. To ensure that this is the best experience for all of you, we’re doing things a bit differently than we have in the past.

We invite you to participate in a closed beta to provide us feedback and help us improve the app before we launch to the public. We have a very limited number of spots to accept testers. Please note that although you may have tested a version of the Munzee app in the past, that does not lock your spot on this beta test.

September Flat Schedule

But first some information about Real Louise and Flat Lou!

Flat Lou has not been sold for the month of August while we worked out a change to where our donation will be directed due to a special event! From August 29 through September 5 each Flat Lou sold will include a donation of $0.25 to The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). We’ve donated to *MNDA in the past and due to the special circumstances of this upcoming weekend we are excited to donate to them again. Be on the lookout for double points on all Flat Lou activity August 31 through September 3. She is representing Great Britain at the Gran Fondo World Championships in Italy on Sunday. Her race begins at 8am and is 135 km long and 1950 m of elevation gain. It will be a tough day for her, but we know she can do it! Good luck Lou!

*About motor neurone disease (MND) and the MND Association:

MND is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.
It attacks the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. MND does not usually affect the senses such as sight, sound, feeling etc.
It can leave people locked in a failing body, unable to move, talk and eventually breathe.
It affects people from all communities.
It kills around 30% of people within a year of diagnosis, and 50% within 21 months.
A person’s lifetime risk of developing MND is up to 1 in 300.
Six people per day are diagnosed with MND in the UK.
It affects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time.
It kills six people per day in the UK, this is just under 2,200 per year
It has no cure. The MND Association was founded in 1979 by a group of volunteers with experience of living with, or caring for, someone with MND. Since then, we have grown significantly, with an ever-increasing community of volunteers, supporters and staff, all sharing the same goal – to support people with MND and everyone who cares for them, both now and in the future.
We improve care and support for people with MND, their families and carers.
We fund and promote research that leads to new understanding and treatments and brings us closer to a cure for MND.
We campaign and raise awareness so the needs of people with MND, and everyone who cares for them, are recognised and addressed by wider society.

Clan Battle #66 will start September 3 at 00:01 — if you would like to join a clan for the first time or want to find a new clan you can use our Clan Randomizer button, but it is only available from 00:01 September 1 through 23:59 September 2 so act fast!

Each Level must be completed to continue progressing toward Level 5. All totals are cumulative from all Levels. In other words, a player must complete Level 1 and Level 2 requirements before being eligible for Level 3 completion.

Letter From Zee Prez

Howdy Munzeers!

It’s time for a quick update on the overall progress and direction of Munzee! Over the past few months we’ve made some changes to the game and been working behind the scenes on a new version of the app. While I don’t have all of the details to share with you today I’d like to give you some information to help you know where we are headed.

As we move toward the 4.0 version of the Munzee app we are preparing many things behind the scenes. One of those is a much needed update to the point structure. In the beginning there was one type of Munzee, affectionately nicknamed the greenie. Other types were added over time with each becoming more and more valuable. The greenie sat in the shadows even though it is the cornerstone to the game. I want you to know that we have a plan for greenie points and it’s going to be rolled out soon. We love the greenie as much as you do and want to return the cornerstone to it’s place in the sun! In the meantime we will continue to update the point structure of many other types. You may notice the majority of point updates have happened to physical Munzee types. There is a purpose behind that as we know physical gameplay accomplishes our goals to get people active and moving. You will see us continue to drive the physical portion of the game forward since it is the majority of deploys worldwide, and always will be. Thanks for your patience during this big point update project.

Munzee 4.0 is a very large project as well. We aren’t quite ready to put it in the hands of beta testers yet, but we are feeling good about the progress through our alpha testing recently. The app is getting a complete makeover while the functionality you’ve come to expect will remain intact. The core gameplay is our focus while we also cleanup many side menus and organize features in a better way. We think you’re really going to enjoy it and can’t wait to get it out there in the field being tested. Stay tuned for more updates including information about beta testing and changes before the full launch of version 4.0.

I hope you’ve been participating in the variety of ways Munzee offers through gameplay options. We have events put on by players all of the world. Participate in Clan wars and join a group of 10 worldwide players to compete monthly in order to try and reach goals and win prizes. Recruiting for monthly clan wars is open on the 1st and 2nd of each month. You can also challenge yourself to complete our daily and weekly ZeeOps to earn prizes. We have plans to continue updating and evolving each of these interactive styles of gameplay after 4.0 launches and we can focus on each individually.

There are portions of the game you may think we’ve forgotten about, but believe me when I say that we have not. Munzee is huge and an intricate tapestry so we have to work on it one piece at a time currently! Remember our theme for the year? The Time Is Now! We remember and we’re working hard every day to make updates and keep things fresh. Please help us by growing the game and growing the map! The future of Munzee is so bright and we have so many great things in store. We can’t do any of this without our amazing Munzee community and we remember that fact daily. You are our focus.

Please contact us with questions, suggestions, and issues. My apologies if we don’t respond to every suggestion because we receive so many that we are really working on. The great ones might even make it into the game! I look forward to meeting some of you at upcoming events and interacting with others online!
