September Garden Gnome Reminder + October Preview!

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into October with your desired Garden Gnomes! The skin for completing your September capture streak (and the corresponding badge) will be awarded in early October, but we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store!

September Garden Gnome Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Garden Gnome yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $4.

Each month, the price of a Garden Gnome will decrease by $1. However, players can only purchase 1 Garden Gnome every 28 days.

If you’re planning to complete the capture streaks for each month (and made the initial purchase in January) you’ll have 12 different skins to choose from! So be sure to purchase one each month so you can have a complete bench of these athletic Garden Gnomes!

We also released special Reseller Garden Gnomes in March — if you’re interested, you can check out our blog post on them HERE!

October Garden Gnome Details

What Gnome Skin can you look forward to receiving in October? The speedy Cycling Garden Gnome! Like the other gnomes, the Cycling Garden Gnome is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on December 31.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to have completed this month’s (September’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in October, you can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our original blog post for the instructions!

Points

  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 300

You can find these rugged riders pedaling to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Cycling Garden Gnome will scatter up to 3 NEW Gnome Cycling Casquettes nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Gnome Hats, the Gnome Cycling Casquette will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Gnome owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. These hat scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Gnome Hats are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 50 points

The Cycling Garden Gnome will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Cycling Garden Gnomes on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Cycling Garden Gnome visits you. Cycling Garden Gnomes are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Cycling Garden Gnomes by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

Badges

As a reminder, Garden Gnomes have 4 associated badge lines:

  • Unique type deploy badges — you’ll need to earn each month’s skin by keeping your streak up!
  • Overall deploy badges — the more gnomes you deploy, the merrier!
  • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned gnome!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many gnomes as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Cycling Garden Gnome:

We hope earning October’s Gnome Skin is like riding a bike! Don’t forget to keep your streak up through October — you’ll need to in order to earn the November Gnome Skin!

New Mechs for Oktoberfest!

Nothing quite rings in the fall season like Oktoberfest! We love the festivities so much that in 2013, it was the theme for first MHQ Bash — if you were around last year, you may remember our Bash from the Past special that was a throwback to that time. We featured Oktoberfest again in 2017’s MHQ Bash. Since we won’t be able to celebrate as we usually do, we designed some new Munzee Mechs to bring the party to you! Please welcome SteinBot and CarafeBorg!

NEW Mech Details

SteinBots and CarafeBorgs are temporary POBs that will remain on the map until they have been captured 5 times. The SteinBot is available at the Freeze Tag Store HERE. The CarafeBorg will be available in the In-App Store! When you purchase a SteinBot or CarafeBorg, you will receive a fully-built SteinBot or CarafeBorg that auto-deploys. You will also receive the Blueprint to rebuild it when you have earned enough Cogs in the future. These Mechs will be available until 12:00 MHQ on Thursday, October 7th.

Points

  • Deploy: 500
  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 100
  • Crush (5th Cap): 500

You can find these droid drink makers serving orders at the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

SteinBots and CarafeBorgs will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture SteinBots and CarafeBorgs on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same SteinBot or CarafeBorg visits you. SteinBots and CarafeBorgs are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access SteinBots and CarafeBorgs by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When a SteinBot is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Botwursts. Similarly, when a CarafeBorg is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Dronuts.

These will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the SteinBot or CarafeBorg owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn rewards for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well. These scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Botwursts and Dronuts are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

Badges

Deploying a SteinBot or a CarafeBorg will earn you the corresponding Blueprint badge. You can see these badges below.

There is also a line of capture badges that you can earn for SteinBot, Botwurst, CarafeBorg or Dronut Munzee captures! You can see the first badge in this line below.

We hope these mechs help keep you hydrated during the festivities!

This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes and have a capture radius of 300 feet. • Unique type capture badges — capture at least 1 of each skinned gnome!
  • Overall capture badges — capture as many gnomes as you can find!

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Football Garden Gnome:

We hope you don’t fumble your chances of earning September’s Gnome Skin! Don’t forget to keep your streak up through September — you’ll need to in order to earn the October Gnome Skin!

No Purchase Necessary to Enter the LotterZEE!

Like it says in the title, unlike the real-world’s lottery, it’s free to play our LotterZEE! If you see one near you, cap it! You’ll find it behaves much the same way as the typical monthly special, though there is a unique number mechanic that may dictate which scatters you cap — make sure to read all the details below! Starting at 12:00 MHQ on August 26th, LotterZEE specials will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on September 23rd.

LotterZEE Specials

These rotating randomizers will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 500 Physical LotterZEE Ball Machines and 500 Virtual LotterZEE Ball Machines. They will bounce around on the map every 4 hours or when captured. You can find ball machines at the following munzees near you:

Both will be worth 100 points for the Capture and 25 points for the CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! Physical LotterZEE Ball Machines will be attracted to Physical Magnets, while Virtual LotterZEE Ball Machines will be attracted to Virtual Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

When you capture a Ball Machine, up to three LotterZEE Ball Munzees will scatter nearby, like Feathers, but they will only be visible to the player that triggered them. These munzees will stay on the map for 2 hours or when captured and will be worth 50 points. You’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! However, you’ll want to be choosy about which numbers you cap!

Winning Numbers

Each week, there will be a secret three-digit number that is the winning number. If you manage to cap the digits of that number in the right order, then you’ll earn a special badge with that winning number on it! The first player who does this will also earn a Zed prize!

To clarify, the caps do not need to be consecutive in the sense that capturing any munzees that are not LotterZEE Balls will not affect your LotterZEE  number stream, for 2 reasons:

  1. You may not receive 3 LotterZEE Ball scatters every time you capture a LotterZEE Ball Machine
  2. You may want to choose which numbers go into your LotterZEE number stream — maybe you have a lucky number you’re shooting for?

Here’s an example to help illustrate: let’s say the winning number is “512.” To have that number present in your LotterZEE number stream, you could:

  1. Capture a LotterZEE Ball Machine
  2. Capture a 5 LotterZEE Ball
  3. Capture a Skyland (or other types)
  4. Capture a LotterZEE Ball Machine
  5. Capture a 1 LotterZEE Ball
  6. Capture a 2 LotterZEE Ball

This would have your number stream set to “5, 1, 2”. However, if you captured a 3 after step 4, then your LotterZEE number stream would be “5, 3” and you would have to start over with capturing a 5 again first to try again, i.e. “5, 3, 5, 1, 2”. So, as long as the winning numbers are within your number stream during the week, you will have met the requirement!

Prize Drawing

In addition, each time you capture a LotterZEE Special, you will earn an entry into a prize drawing we’ll have each week, where we’ll randomly choose 10 winners! The more specials you cap, the more entries you will have! There will also be a Grand Prize Drawing once the specials have left the map!

Badges

There will be eight badges to earn for these specials. Four of them are based on capping the winning numbers as described above. The other four are based on the total number of LotterZEE specials you capture, but just how many captures it takes to earn all 4 badges will be kept a secret! You can see the first badge below:

Raffle Ticketz- Capture one LotterZEE special of any type.

We hope you are game for these new specials!

Munzee on!

No purchase necessary to win. The LotterZEE Specials not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with real-world lotteries. For the Prize Drawings mentioned above, the number of eligible entries received and total prizes available determines the odds of winning. Winners are selected at random by Commentpicker.com. Prizes from the LotterZEE have no cash value.

Flat Day The 13th Part 4: Left 4 Zeds

Last week was pretty wholesome with #NationalDiscGolfDay celebrations, so we bet you didn’t expect something on the opposite end of the spectrum so soon! This year for Flat Day the 13th, things are a little different as we’re introducing a permanent game piece instead of a bouncing special, so make sure to read all the details below!

NEW Nomad!

13 NEW Jason 4Zees Nomads have been unleashed on the map. Unlike other nomads, they will bounce every 6 hours or when captured.

Landing Pads:

  • All non-bouncing Flat Munzees:
    • Flat Friends:
      • Flat Rob
      • Flat Matt
      • Flat Lou
      • Flat Hammock
    • Flat Objects:
      • Flat DHS
      • Flat Disc Golf Basket

Points:

  • Capture: 513
  • CapOn (for host owner): 250

Additionally, the Jason 4Zees Nomads will scatter up to 3 NEW Killer Masks nearby when it is captured!

The Killer Mask will only be visible to the player who captured the Jason 4Zees Nomad and will scatter like Feathers! This means there are no CapOn points but you have thrilling results at stake:

  • Bad Result: lose 13 points
  • Good Result: 31 points and 13 Zeds

They’ll stay on the map for 2 hours after scattering. The capture radius is 300 feet for these. You won’t be able to use Rover Treats to capture them — Rover knows when he’s outmatched.

There will be 1 badge for unmasking Jason 4Zees. Since there’s only the 1 badge in this line, we want to keep it a secret for now. Jason 4Zees captures will also count toward the Nomad Munzee Badge Line.

To learn more about Nomads, check out the Help Guide article!

Limited Edition Badges

Other than the badge specifically for Jason 4Zees mentioned above, which will always be attainable as Nomads are permanent game pieces, there are 3 badges that will only be available from Thursday, August 12th at 12:00 MHQ through Monday, August 16th at 12:00 MHQ.

You can see what the first badge in the line looks like below:

Cruel-Aid Stand- Capture 13 Flat Munzees of any type during the Flat Day the 13th event in 2021.

Check our social media pages (FB|TWTR|IG) on Friday for a hint regarding one of the other badges!

Sale on Flats!

Better your chances at capping a Jason 4Zees Nomad by deploying a Flat Munzee near you!

If you don’t have any Flat Munzees in your inventory, we’ve got just the thing! For the same period as the Limited Edition Badges, we will be putting a special value pack in the Freeze Tag Online Store on sale!

It will include:

  • 1 of each non-bouncing Flat Munzee (Flat Rob, Flat Matt, Flat Lou, Flat Hammock, Flat DHS, and Flat Disc Golf Basket) for $13! That’s scary good, as it’s more than half off!

Please note that these packs are limited to 1 per player.

If you only need a specific type of flat, you’ll find that the individual listings will be discounted as well!

You can see the entire collection here: https://store.freezetag.com/collections/flat-day-the-13th

You can also make a trade with other players who have them stocked up!

We hope you’re ready to face these foul flat specials once again!

Head to the Google Form HERE! Unlike our other nomination Google Forms, this should be limited to one submission per person. We’ll keep the form open at least until the end of Birthday Events, which means some time during our workday on September 8th.

We are also brainstorming more fun and interesting honors to bestow in the 10 months following our 10th birthday — in particular, ones that feature newer players, as more established players have certainly had an advantage in the awards we’ve come up with so far.

It’s hard to predict what the criteria will be, so just keep playing your way and

July Garden Gnome Reminder + August Preview!

As the month comes to a close, we wanted to make sure you were heading into August with your desired Garden Gnomes! The skin for completing your July capture streak (and the corresponding badge) will be awarded in early August, but we couldn’t wait to share what’s in store!

July Garden Gnome Reminders

If you haven’t picked up a Garden Gnome yet, they are available in the Freeze Tag Store for $6.

August Garden Gnome Details

What Gnome Skin can you look forward to receiving in August? The all-rounder Cricket Garden Gnome! Like the other gnomes, the Cricket Garden Gnome is a temporary POB that will remain on the map until 23:59 MHQ on December 31.

As stated earlier, to earn this skin, you’ll need to have completed this month’s (July’s) capture streak. Once the skin is awarded in August, you can change the skin on the gnome to this one at any point — refer to our original blog post for the instructions!

Points

  • Capture: 250
  • CapOn: 300

You can find these brawny batters sprinting to the following landing pads every 6 hours or when captured:

Additionally, the Cricket Garden Gnome will scatter up to 3 NEW Gnome Club Caps nearby when it is captured!

Like the other Gnome Hats, the Gnome Club Cap will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Gnome owner’s account.

The Cricket Garden Gnome will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture Cricket Garden Gnomes on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Cricket Garden Gnome visits you. Cricket Garden Gnomes are non-blastable. They will be attracted to both Physical Magnets and Virtual Magnets. You can access Cricket Garden Gnomes by turning on your “All Limited Edition Specials” and “All Expiring Specials” filters.

While we revealed images for the first of each badge line in the original post, we are happy to show you the “Unique type deploy” and “Unique type capture” badges associated with the Cricket Garden Gnome:

We hope earning August’s Gnome Skin isn’t a sticky wicket! Don’t forget to keep your streak up through August — you’ll need to in order to earn the September Gnome Skin!

Birthday QRates in the Wild?!

Nine days ago, we revealed what was waiting inside the Birthday Qrate for Tier 3 10th Birthday Mailbox members — the MechaniC4K3! It definitely caught your attention with its high deploy points, and we were happy to see it was an enjoyable surprise! Of course, we didn’t want to leave the rest of the players out indefinitely, so we thought it would be nice to release the Blueprints (just the Blueprints, no auto-deployed tPOB) in a slightly different Birthday QRate for all!

What’s Different?

Here’s a handy chart to make it easy to compare:

Munzee on!

July 9, 2021

You’re in for a Reel Treat with these Go Fishing specials!

Have you ever gone fishing? Whether you’re a practiced hand or have never touched a fishing pole, our new Go Fishing specials will make it easy to cast a line! Starting at 12:00 MHQ on July 9th, Go Fishing specials will bounce around the map until 23:59 MHQ on August 8th.

Go Fishing Specials

These classic tools will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 700 Freshwater Fishing Poles and 700 Saltwater Fishing Poles. They will bounce around on the map every 4 hours or when captured. You can find fishing poles at the following munzees near you:

  • Freshwater Fishing Pole:
  • Saltwater Fishing Pole
    • Blue Colored Virtuals:
      • Virtual Blue Violet
      • Virtual Blue
      • Virtual Cadet Blue
      • Virtual Periwinkle
      • Virtual Cornflower
      • Virtual Blue Green
      • Virtual Pacific Blue
      • Virtual Cerulean
      • Virtual Robin Egg Blue
      • Virtual Indigo
      • Virtual Turquoise Blue
    • Sapphires
    • All Stages of Submarine
    • Beach Places

Both will be worth 150 points for the Capture and 50 points for the CapOn, so you don’t want to miss out! Freshwater Fishing Poles will be attracted to Physical Magnets, while Saltwater Fishing Poles will be attracted to Virtual Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

When you capture a Freshwater Fishing Pole, up to three Red Fishing Bobber Munzees will scatter nearby, like Feathers. Similarly, when you capture a Saltwater Fishing Pole, up to three Green Fishing Bobber Munzees will scatter nearby. These munzees will stay on the map for 4 hours or when captured, but the amount of points you’ll get depends on what you catch!

When you capture a Bobber Munzee, your catch will be revealed, similar to the 1st/2nd/3rd Place Results of the #WorldBicycleDay specials. At launch you can expect to see the Smelt and Rainbow Trout from Red Fishing Bobbers, and the King Mackerel and Bonefish from the Green Fishing Bobbers. More types of fish will appear as the month goes on, so make sure to keep an eye out! And don’t forget — fish aren’t the only things that can be found in the water!

Badges

There will be five badges to earn for these specials. Three are based on the total number of Go Fishing specials you capture, but just how many captures it takes to earn all 3 badges will be kept a secret! The remaining two badges are based on capturing each of the different Fish Munzees as they appear in the wild. You can see the first badge below:

Candy Worms- Capture one Go Fishing special.

We hope you are ready to tackle these new specials!
