Introducing the AlternaMyth Wrangler Badge!

After the release of both the Myth Wrangler and the Classical Myth Wrangler badges it was only a matter of time until the AlternaMyths got their turn in the crosshairs!

We’re excited to announce that you’ll soon be able to earn the AlternaMyth Wrangler badge for capturing all four AlternaMyths in a single day!

The Rainbow Unicorn, Gnome Leprechaun, Ice Dragon and Sasquatch Yeti are all hard enough to find on their own, but will you be lucky enough to cap them all in one day? Since these Alternative Versions of the first four Mythological Munzees are exclusively deployed by MHQ, this badge is only for the most committed of Myth hunters.

You’ll want to do everything you can to increase your odds, so remember to utilize Munzee Magnets and Elemental Munzees. 

Please note that regular first generation Myths, Classical Myths, or Classical AlternaMyths will not count toward this badge. Unlike the original Myth Wrangler this badge IS NOT retroactive though. The badge will begin awarding at 00:01 MHQ time on Thursday, February 8th.

Premium Members to Receive Another Golden Carrot Munzee!

When we launched the Farm Set of Evolution Munzees in September 2016, Premium Members were awarded a special Golden Carrot Evolution Munzee. That was the only time that Golden Carrots have been awarded, and we thought it was time to change that!

On Thursday, February 8th at 10:00 MHQ time, all Premium Members will receive another Gold Carrot Munzee. As a reminder, the Golden Carrot is a credit that is applied to a generic. This will only be a convert option for uncapped greenies in the first 24 hours after deploy or for never deployed undeploys. When deployed it will grow just like the others, reaching golden carrot status in it’s final stage. You must be a Premium Member when the awarding takes place to receive one.

Not a Premium Member yet, or is your Premium Membership about to expire? You still have time! From now until 23:59 MHQ time tomorrow (February 7th), Premium Memberships are $5 off in the Munzee Online Store!

Go Green Munzee Events!

The time has come to reveal the plans for the next lot of Munzee Event Packages! We are inviting you to host Go Green Munzee Events all over the world. Would only be right to kick off these events with the King of Green, St Patrick himself, on Saturday 17th March and run them all the way through Easter and on to Earth Day on Sunday 22nd April.

We would love to see Munzee events encouraging green initiatives such as getting outside, picking up litter and wearing green. In fact, there will be a badge for the winner of the Go Green Competition at each Munzee event during this period. The host needs to send a photo and the player name to me after the event of the attendee that wears the most green clothing.

The packages for these Go Green Events are as follows:
The Seeds Package – Basic event + no proximity = $30
The Sapling Package – The Seeds Package + 5 Mystery virtuals = $35
The Tree Package – The Sapling Package + Badge & Icon = $135
The Forest Package – The Tree Package + Eventzee = $185

Player of the Week: Leslie Burg (MrsHB31)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Leslie Burg (MrsHB31).

Who are you?
I’m Leslie Burg. My Munzee name is MrsHB31.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in the United States in the town of Wesley Chapel, North Carolina which is located just outside of the city of Charlotte.

How long have you played Munzee?
I’ve been playing Munzee for about 5 1/2 years. I capped my first munzee in August 2012.

How did you find Munzee?
I discovered Munzee through a contest held by our local caching club. The contest involved alternative location-based games which introduced me to a few interesting games. The only one that stuck was Munzee!

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I enjoy chasing Mythologicals and other expiring specials. I also enjoy meeting other players at events. I have met some really great people through Munzee.

What is on your wish list?
I would like to see a feature in the app that would allow me to see areas that are blocked by existing Destination Munzees to help locate areas where new Destination Munzees can be added to the map.

Tell us about yourself!
I am an elementary school teacher, mother of two teenagers, and wife of 20 years to another Munzee fan (can you guess his username?). While my kids have not been bitten by the Munzee bug, my husband and I enjoy travelling to events and munzee-heavy areas with our camper and even deployed on a few Caribbean islands this summer.

Other hobbies include:
My other hobbies include boating, traveling, and following NASCAR.

Any last words?
I’m looking forward to seeing whatever new twists Munzee plans to throw into the game in the future. I also want to thank whoever nominated me — I am very honored to be Player of the Week!

Announcing The Fire Pegasus and Virtual Magnets!

As we welcome the new year, we’re also excited to welcome a new AlternaMyth- set the skies ablaze with the Fire Pegasus Mythological Munzee! As the first Classical AlternaMyth these winged creatures are sure to light the way for you in your Myth searches.

As with the other AlternaMyths these Mythological Munzees are deployed on behalf of our HQ staff’s accounts, thus super rare. You’ll get 200 points for capping The Fire Pegasus. Owners of the host munzee will also earn double the points of a normal Pegasus.

This fiery flyer is just like the normal Pegasus and hovers to all colors of Virtual Munzees, Mystery Virtual Munzees, and MVMs as well as Air Mystery Munzees every 12 hours or when captured. As the name may allude, the Fire Pegasus will also bounce to Fire Mystery Munzees.

Although this Myth’s blazing speed will make it a tough one to find, we’re excited to announce the release of the Virtual Magnet as well! Much like the regular Munzee Magnet the item will attract up to three Mythologicals for up to one hour. You can add Virtual Magnets to any color of MVM and they will attract Pegasus and Fire Pegasus munzees.

Like the Munzee Magnets, Virtual Magnets are $1/each with a limit of 10 every 10 days. Virtual Magnets are available NOW, and you can find them in the Munzee Online Store here. Be on the lookout for even more uses for the Virtual Magnet in the near future, too!

Capturing a Fire Pegasus will count towards the Myth Collector badges too.
