Munzee Online Store Update

Hey everybody!

We’ve added some features to the Munzee Online Store that you need to be aware of.

Username Validation – The username field has been moved to the product page and is now validated to make sure that you get your products right away. When you add a product to your cart, the store checks your entered username against the database to determine if it is valid. If it is, the product is added to your cart. If it is not, an error message pops up.
Multiple Users Per Purchase – We also now support the ability to check out with items for multiple users in one purchase. After adding an item to your cart for one person, just change the username and the item to the cart again. On the cart and check out pages, you will see the items for both users separately.

There a few things to note:

If you are logged in, your username will be filled out automatically. (If it isn’t, log out and log back in.)
You cannot change the username after the item has been added to your cart.
This will also work for WallaBee items. Make sure you put in the appropriate username for each item.

The Scatter Munzee Has Arrived!

It’s been teased and tested for the past few months, but now, it’s ready for release. We’re happy to introduce the Scatter Munzee to our lineup!

The Scatter Munzee is a credit that can be applied to greenies. When captured, it scatters 4 Scattered Munzee icons (seen below) onto greenies within a one mile radius.

These special icons will remain for 2 hours or until captured. These Scattered Munzees are available for anyone to capture, so you have to be quick!

The points for the Scatter and Scattered Munzees are as follows:

Capture: 35
CapOn: 20

Scattered

Capture: 15
CapOn: 10

The Scatter Munzee will be available in the Munzee Store starting today, May 4th at 13:00 MHQ time. From release through 13:00 MHQ time on Wednesday, May 11th, they will be available for $2.50. From that time on, they will be returned to their standard price of $3.00.

Last month, we announced the winner of the Next Urban Camo contest. We loved the other designs, as well, so we decided to take the top three and make them a reality! Now, they’re ready for you to hide them across the world!

Starting today (Tuesday, May 3rd) at 15:00 MHQ time, Premium Members can purchase the new Mini Urban Camos at a discounted rate! This pre-sale will be available until 23:59 MHQ time on Sunday, May 8th. After that, the price will change to normal, and they will be available to everyone.

Flat Rob is Getting Some Exercise

With MunzFit Events starting this weekend, Flat Rob was training to get fit. Well he seems to have headed out a bit early, so Flat Robs will be on the map starting tomorrow, May 4th at 00:00 MHQ Time. They’ll be out and about through Wednesday, May 18th at 00:00 MHQ time.

Player of the Week: Nancy Kelly (KatzRule712)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Nancy Kelly (KatzRule712).

Who are you?
I’m KatzRule712, and my best Munzee buddy is a dog named Angus. Ironic, I know!

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Eden, a little town near Lake Erie about 30 minutes southwest of Buffalo, NY. We are famous for chick wings, beef on weck, and record breaking snow storms.

How long have you played Munzee?
I started playing on October 8, 2013. Seems crazy that I have been playing for 911 days.

How did you find Munzee?
I was out in one of my favorite hiking spots looking for a cache with my friend Tucci. We decided to take the direct route which brought us to the edge of a ravine. I heard a disembodied voice calling to us through the fog, and it was Frank Broughton. We climbed down the ravine and up the other side to find him very excited about Munzee Clan Wars. That very day, I went out on a bike path and started capping, so it is all Frank’s fault 🙂

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
The number one thing has to be all the great people I’ve met. So many of them have become really wonderful friends. Next thing I love is capping physical munzees, preferable a long line of them. Walking with Angus and capping stickers is great exercise and lots of fun, especially when some of our friends join us. Munzee road trips are also a great part of the game, and I especially love it when our whole clan was able to attend the Munzee Bash.

What is on your wish list?
Well I wish to have the 5000 greenies deployed badge. I’m working hard on it every day! I also wish for more variety in the Clan War requirements. I loved it when it changed up more: some months deploys, sometimes points, other times captures. I think this gives more players an opportunity to go for higher levels.

Tell us about yourself!
I’m a veterinary technician, a crazy cat lady, and my best friend is a dog. He loves to munzee, but the cats think we are nuts! I’m lucky to live in an area with lots of munzees. A few early players in our area worked really hard to introduce people to the game (thanks GOF and cski), and now the Buffalo area is covered in green (and blue and jewel tones). I have a great family and love playing the game with my mom, sister, and nephew.

Other hobbies include:
I love to cache, kayak, go hiking and camping. Winter hobbies include crochet, woodworking, and puzzle solving.

Any last words?
Deploy, deploy, deploy!! Love the greenies, and everybody just have fun!

Munzee Picture Request

This year, we’ve been focusing on building communities, both within the game and our communities. While some of MHQ’s events can bring these two together, we also want to be able to showcase our player community within our local communities year round. To do that, we need your help!

We’re requesting pictures from your Munzee adventures, including events and just normal, everyday gameplay. We’re going to display these pictures in a digital gallery at both the Munzee Marketplace and the Munzee Marketplace – Cocoa Beach locations. These pictures will also be included in an online gallery.

Please send pictures of your events and activities to iloveyou@munzee.com with the subject “Photo Gallery”. This will be an ongoing gallery, so feel free to send them any time in the future, as well. Once the gallery is up and running, we will choose a Featured Photo every week to share with everyone!

We can’t wait to see what you show us! Munzee on!

Another Message from Louise

This week I have hit 2 very important milestones; I have been working for Munzee for 1 year, and I have managed over 500 events. Thank you to all my hosts, you’re certainly keeping me busy!

I’m really excited about MunzFit events starting next week. It’s not too late to join in, get them on the calendar and get involved! I have a fabulous host badge available too:

All the events you host go towards your tally for the multiple host badges and guess what? I now have 15 and 20 times host badges available, I wonder who will be first to get them?

Something else to be excited about are some updates for events. Following on from the MunzFit events we are launching a new type of event account and a new special for you – the Event Pin!

These Event Pins will be on a separate layer (similar to Flat Robs) and are reactive to other Event Pins (minimum proximity 50ft), but not to other munzees on the map or the event account if proximity restrictions have been lifted on it.
There will be 100 Event Pins in each event account, hosts don’t have to use them all but can if they wish. If the event has a customised icon it will replace the Event Pin icon. They are worth 5 points to capture and replace greenies in the event accounts.

There will be no limit on what else goes into the event accounts e.g. MVMs and Virtuals. There are also new offerings for temporary placement e.g. Diamonds and Amethysts . New prizes available too e.g. Flat Robs and Virtual Resorts. Details of everything available and prices are listed here (https://calendar.munzee.com/MUNZEE_EVENT_PACKAGE.pdf) and are emailed automatically to hosts with their calendar link when their event gets listed on the calendar.

Hosts can also now see their event’s deployed munzees on the map ahead of the go live time as long as they are logged in on the event account. This should make the deploying process easier.

Looking further ahead to July we will be inviting you all to celebrate our 5th Birthday with us by hosting your own Birthday Parties throughout the month. Details on the packages available will be released next week.
