Munzee App Update Released

Good morning!

We’re starting off the week with an app update! Munzee Version 3.1.2 is now available in the App Store and Google Play Store. Changes include:

Scanner Layout Change
Revision of Badges View to Show Categories
Addition of the Ability to Reset Fitness Device Integration
Fixes for Offline Queue Caps

UPDATED: Bright Lights, Big City, Flat Robs

Update: The times for Flat Robs have been updated.

Rob, Scott, and Daniel Fischer have taken off to The Big Apple in search of answers to issues with the Munzee Map. While it potentially has some very good benefits for everyone soon, it has immediate benefits for you, the players!

Flat Robs will be on the map from today (Sunday, April 24th) at ~~12:00~~ 17:00 CDT through Thursday, April 28th at ~~12:00~~ 13:00 CDT!

Munzee With Team Munzee: April

The end of April is upon us, and you know what that means! Munzee With Team Munzee is next Friday, April 29th!

Come join members of MHQ at Collin Creek Mall in Plano, Texas for a couple of hours of capping! There’s plenty of space to deploy and Munzees to cap. You may even see something new show up. 😉

Munzee’s 5th Birthday Bash Details!

Earlier this year, we announced Munzee’s 5th Birthday Bash would be held in the Denver, Colorado area from June 30 through July 4. After planning and getting help from some of our great local players, we’ve got the details to share with you now!

Munzee’s 5th Birthday Bash will be a 5 day extravaganza taking place all around the Denver area. Rob, Matt, Dylan, and Louise are making the trek to the Mile High City for the party! A party is no fun without friends, so we are looking for players and non-players alike who are interested in the following things:

Scenic walks next to mountains, rivers, and highways
Spinning a yarn over a local craft brew
Staring at copper domes and searching for little gnomes
Stuffing doughnuts in your face at all hours of the night
Searching the old wild west for QR codes

With 9 Munzee events over 5 days, there is bound to be something for everyone. Imagine the fun when you add Eventzee to the mix, giving everyone the option to compete for prizes in our photo-based scavenger hunts as well. Each of our nine events will have a custom badge. As usual there will be surprise badges, icons, and prizes scattered throughout the party. We will have a mixture of activities at each event for the social player, the points hound, and the adventurous hybrids.

We asked for your new skin suggestions and had you vote on the best. With over 50% of the votes, the winner is Maintenance Schedule, suggested by Freecyclestacy!

We will be contacting Freecyclestacy shortly to begin working with her on the final design!

April Showers

The weather at MHQ this weekend gave us a nice lead in to our next special. (It rained. A lot.)

April is known for its showers bringing something in May. There’s time for those later, though 😉 . We decided to just accept and, ultimately, celebrate all the rain we’ve been having. We’re happy to introduce our April Showers special!

From 00:01 MHQ Time on April 18th through 23:59 MHQ Time on April 30th, there will be 2016 raindrop icons on the map. These icons will bounce on greenies every 12 hours or when capped. The capper will earn 20 points for capture of a raindrop, and the owner of the host Munzee will earn 16 points.

Don’t let the rain get you down this April. Get out and capture it! Munzee on!

3X Hammer Day!

As you may or may not know, April 15th is (usually) the deadline for filing IRS Tax Returns in the US. For some, this is a good day. For others, not so much. Either way, people are getting “hammered”. So to share this experience everyone, all points (Capture, CapOn, and Deploy) for the HAMMER are being multiplied by 3 today! This will be in effect through 23:59 MHQ time today, April 15th.

MunzFit Events FAQ

We’ve had some questions regarding the MunzFit events, so we’ve got a FAQ for you!

Do I or my guests need a Fitbit?

No. MunzFit events have no ties to the Munzee Fitness Program. However, these events are meant to encourage players to get out and do something active.

Are the Flat Robs owned by the event or are they for prizes?

Flat Robs are owned by the event.

What exactly does “No proximity rules for non-Event Pins” mean?

One of the options for events is to have no proximity, meaning the event account can deploy Munzees in dense areas that they normally wouldn’t be able to. For MunzFit events, this option will be included. The only exception to this rule is the new Event Pins. Full information on those will be available very soon.

Do all attendees have to bike? Is it a non guided bike tour?

That is up to the event host. There are no specific requirements regarding what kind of event is put on.

Do Event Pins for the MunzFit events all have same icon?

Yes. This is the first time the Event Pins will be introduced. For future events, the hosts will be able to purchase custom icons for Event Pins like they do now for greenies.

Do we have to do a sports event or will a normal event also count?

Though we can’t say there is such a thing as a “normal” event, there are no specific requirements for a MunzFit event. We would love to see new, fitness-style events, though.

Are MunzFit events just like other events but with different things to deploy?

Yes and no. While the requirements are the same as other events, MunzFit events also include the special MunzFit badge, and they will be the first events to use the new Event Pin.

Can you explain how the MunzFit events work?

MunzFit events are an attempt to tie in Munzee’s contribution to the MND Association and the Rave & Ride Event with all players to give everyone the chance to support the cause. Events between May 6th-15th can purchase a MunzFit package and receive the MunzFit Badge, the new Event Pin, and other special items listed. They have no specific requirements regarding what the event must achieve (eg biking, running, etc), but we do encourage players and hosts to come up with new, exciting ways to incorporate something different into their events.

MunzFit 2016!

As we’ve said before, Munzee has been working with multiple organizations to donate money from the March fundraisers. While we’ve been working with MDA and Skylar directly, we’ve been working with another organization to help provide support for MNDA. We’re now ready to release information and introduce MunzFit 2016!

Rave & Ride is a 300+ person indoor cycling event organized by Steven Smith that raises funds for the MND Association in honor of his mother, Genifer, who passed away from MND. The event will be hosted at Stoke Park in the UK and see individuals and teams of indoor cyclists come together for an all-day sponsored ride with club music provided by live DJs. There is also the possibility of two world records being broken due to the scale of the event and the number of members expected to take part. Steven has already raised £115,000 for the MND Association through several events, and he is hoping the Rave and Ride event will push that amount over £160,000. Munzee will be involved in two ways. First, we will be making a donation to Rave and Ride during the event on May 14th, 2016. Rob and Matt will be traveling to the UK to meet up with Louise and present the donation to Steven. We didn’t want to stop there, though. While Louise is already participating in the event, Rob and Matt wanted to show their support for the cause and ride as well. They will be teaming up with Team DBA and DBA Sports (one of Louise’s riding sponsors) to ride during the event.

Rave & Ride is also the launching point for MunzFit 2016. From May 6th-15th, we will be having MunzFit events. We want to get as many people as possible involved, so we will be offering a MunzFit package.

For $100, a MunzFit Event includes:

The MunzFit Badge with editable text and flag (see below)
50 Event Pins (more information regarding these to follow)
10 Flat Robs
10 MVMs
No proximity rules for non-Event Pins
Prizes for all attendees from Secret Steven
