Munzee’s Official Birthday Bash is Coming Up! (Plus New Tags!)

Will you be joining us in California for Munzee’s Official Birthday Bash on Saturday, July 20? The #8zees will be in full swing as Matt, Dylan, Craig, Mick, Mari, Tamara, and Emma join players in turning back time for Munzee’s 8th birthday celebration in sunny Tustin, CA! You will be able to earn some awesome new badges and icons, including the two pictured below:

You can RSVP to the event now to join members of the Freeze Tag Team on July 20 at 10:00 in Citrus Ranch Park for an unforgettable trip down memory lane. Not sure what to wear? As you recall, each event host has been awarding players with a special badge for best 8zees (80s) attire. And though staff members won’t be vying for this badge, they will be dressing up!

Members of staff will be taking a little “trip to the movies,” as some Freeze Tag teammates will be dressing up as some of their favorite 80s movie characters. Whether you’re more of a Ferris Bueller or an Indiana Jones, we know you want to join in on the 8zees fun! Remember that players in attendance will be able to earn exclusive Traveling Team badges when they meet team members!

New Tags

To get you in the 8zees mood, we will be selling a brand new Personal Tag in the Freeze Tag Online Store starting today at 15:00 MHQ time. Inspired by National Video Game Day this past Monday (and our recent Joystick Munzee artwork!), this retro Personal Tag will get you right in that 8zees spirit. This tag is also available for the sale price of $8.88 in celebration of our 8th birthday!

Let’s turn back time and make some new Munzee memories!

New RetireMyths Set to Haunt the Map (Plus Zombie Pouch Creatures!)

The map has seemed a little too calm lately, so we’ve sent out some brand new RetireMyths to haunt it! There will be a number of new RetireMyths, representing our latest Mythological Munzees, setting out to haunt the map at their own will! These creatures will begin haunting the map very soon!

New RetireMyths

Our latest RetireMyths will include the physical and virtual Banshee RetireMyth, the physical and virtual Fairy RetireMyth, and the physical Mermaid RetireMyth. Like the other RetireMyths, these game pieces will join the map once any Myth owned by an Inactive or Retired account has been archived. These munzees will roam the map at certain times, and are worth 500 points upon first capture, with the point value decreasing by 1 point per each subsequent capture of the unique RetireMyth.

As a reminder, RetireMyths are not attracted to magnets, and they land on the same type of Munzee as their regular counterpart. That means you might want to brush up on your Mythological Munzee knowledge in order to find these ghoulish game pieces.

Zombie Pouch Creatures

Our Myth Munzees can’t be the only type haunting the map! Now introducing the Zombie Pouch Creatures, which will operate like RetireMyths for Pouch Creatures owned by Inactive or Retired accounts!

Muru, Tuli, and Vesi just got a little bit gloomier (though Muru was always pretty gloomy) with their Zombie Pouch Creature variants. They will work the same way that RetireMyths do, entering the map at select times and landing on the same type of Munzee as their regular counterpart. Like the RetireMyths, Zombie Pouch Creatures will be worth 500 points upon first cap and 1 point less for each cap per unique munzee that follows. Please note that Zombie Pouch Creatures will NOT level up into their other forms.

Are you ready to find some haunted munzees? Remember that these are rare finds only available at select times!

Big Map Plans for the InternationElles Munzee!

It’s July, which means it’s time for Louise and the InternationElles to make their pedaled protest to demonstrate the capability of women in cycling! In fact, today marks their very first day of riding! And with Freeze Tag sponsoring these fierce females and Rob joining Louise in France, we thought we’d take you along for the ride!

The InternationElles, pictured on July 4, 2019, are all geared up to bike for equality! (image via loukew, Instagram)

InternationElles Munzee

As Louise cycles the entire route of the Tour de France with the InternationElles one day before the men, Rob will be driving a support van and deploying in France. Rob and Louise will both be deploying virtuals and physicals throughout the Tour de France route, so we decided to make them special! Introducing the InternationElles Munzee icons!

Similar to the Whomp Canada and Wayward Nation munzees, these unique pins will feature special icons. Any greenie or virtual deployed by the InternationElles Munzee account will become the beautiful icons pictured above!

Points

  • Capture: Between 19-78, random
  • CapOn/Deploy: N/A

You can access the InternationElles pins under the Tourism filter. Although the InternationElle Munzees will only be available in France, these special pins will be permanently on the map! So if you’re planning a trip to France, be sure to check out a portion of the Tour de France route and cap an InternationElle Munzee!

You will be able to view all deploys as they start going live here: https://www.munzee.com/m/InternationElles/map/deploys/

Badge

Players will earn the following badge for capturing one InternationElles Munzee of any type:

InternationElles– Capture one InternationElles Munzee of any type

Following Fierce Females

This will be a fun way to track Louise’s progress as she accomplishes great things for female athletes along with the InternationElles. We’re happy to share that our Flat Lou donations, pulled from Flat Lou sales, have covered the costs of van and helmet stickers! Thank you to all who purchased a Flat Lou in support of our cyclist wonder!

You can keep up with Louise and the InternationElles by following them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! These ladies are accomplishing monumental things!

Go Louise, and Munzee on!

Coupe du Munzee Icon Updates!

It’s time for a map change! The Women’s World Cup Semifinals have officially determined which two teams will be battling it out for third place and which teams will have the chance to compete for the championship! We thought it was only fitting to reflect this on the map for our Coupe du Munzee specials, with our next icon change taking place on Friday, July, 5 at 00:01 MHQ time!

The Semifinals saw teams USA and Netherlands advancing to the finals, while England and Sweden will be competing for third place following their losses. However, rather than reduce England and Sweden to one icon per team as we have done with the other eliminated teams, these team icons will remain on the map at 34 icons per team! After all, these teams battled through quite the challenge and deserve recognition! Meanwhile, our top two teams have seen their icons increase from 11 to 30 to 50 to 75. Teams USA and Netherlands will now both have 120 icons per team to celebrate their amazing athletic achievements!

That means the Coupe du Munzee distribution will be as follows:

Top two teams, 120 icons per team:

  • USA
  • Netherlands

Third and fourth place teams, 34 icons per team:

  • England
  • Sweden

20 eliminated teams, 1 icon per team:

  • Germany
  • Norway
  • France
  • Italy
  • Australia
  • Cameroon
  • Brazil
  • Spain
  • China
  • Japan
  • Nigeria
  • Canada
  • South Korea
  • South Africa
  • Jamaica
  • Scotland
  • New Zealand
  • Thailand
  • Argentina
  • Chile

You will have until July 7 at 23:59 MHQ time to cap the Coupe du Munzee specials before they leave the map! There will also be a special surprise celebration to look forward to for the winning team icon! Stay tuned for more details, and remember that physical Munzee Magnets can help with capping those elusive team icons!

Have you earned all 7 Coupe du Munzee badges?!

Your Future is Clear with the Magic 8 Ball Specials!

Do you have a burning question that you’re dying to have answered!? Can’t decide on whether or not to get a haircut or runaway to Tahiti? Well the Magic 8 Ball Munzee specials will be here tomorrow at 00:01 MHQ time to grant your questions a Munzee-fied response (as well as points and badges)! Though there will only be one icon shown on the map, there are a possibility of 8 different icons revealed after this special is captured. Each icon will correspond with a different saying that will not be visible until captured, similar to how the Gleaming Pouch Creatures work. They will bounce around every 6 hours or when capped.

Dying to know what capture messages could be in store for you? We’ll give you a sneak peak, but you’re going to have to get busy capping to discover the other 7 options:

Points

  • Capture: 88 points
  • CapOn: 19 points

These Virtual Munzees will not be blastable. They will bounce to all virtual colors and be attracted to Virtual Magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the Magic 8 Ball specials under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

Badges & Personals

There is also a line featuring —you guessed it!— 8 new badges to earn based off number of captures of Magic 8 Ball specials. The first badge in the series appears as follows:

Magic 8 Ball– Capture 1 Magic 8 Ball special of any type.

The other seven badges may not be as easy to figure out as you think, so keep capping all month long to figure out the rest! Finally, we are happy to offer a fun collection of Magic 8 Ball Personal Tags available for sale in the Freeze Tag Online Store starting tomorrow at 10:00 MHQ time! Here is a sneak peak:

There will be 8 different Magic 8 Ball Personal Tag responses. Players can either purchase an individual tag for $8 to receive a surprise saying or purchase the full set of 8 for $48. You can shop the Personal Tags HERE!

This special, of course, is brought to you by Munzee’s 8th birthday! This is a month for celebration as we live it up in the #8zees!
