Introducing the Munzee Credit Card!

Munzee is pleased to announce that applications for the Munzee Green Card are now available. The new Munzee credit line allows you to earn rewards for playing Munzee! You can earn free munzees for purchases each quarter AND earn 5% cash back when you use the Green Card in the Munzee Online Store.

Green Card cardholders will earn  a variety of Munzee rewards for on each purchase. Just what are these awards? Well you’ll have to apply to find out! These rewards empower our guests and players with new and exciting ways to save money and expand the game. The Munzee Green Card is the key feature of an elite Munzee player and we want our credit users to feel the prestige and inclusivity that this rewards system has to offer.

MunzeeCredit4For a limited time all Munzee Green Card applicants will also receive an exclusive, hand stitched, green dinner jacket. This Italian blazer not only allows you to hit the city in style, but also lets those around you know you’re part of a higher order. Our very own Munzee Tailor will personally size the jacket to your needs so, much like the Munzee Green Card, it’s a perfect fit.

Applications for the Munzee Green Card are available online at munzee.com/GreenCard. They will also be available at Munzee Marketplace and Munzee Marketplace – Cocoa Beach beginning mid-April.

Mystery Nomads Are on the Map!

When we released the original nomads, it was always our intention to expand the lines of them. Now, we have.

MysteryNomad

The Mystery Nomad lands on Mystery and Mini Mystery Munzees (physicals only). They bounce with the same frequency as Physical and Virtual Nomads (every 12 hours or when capped). There will be a 50-100 point split between the capper and the host with a minimum of 25 points.

There are now 10 Mystery Nomads out, and they can be seen with other specials at www.munzee.com/specials. We’ve also increased the number of Physical and Virtual Nomads to 10 each. We hope you enjoy these changes. Munzee on!

March Fundraising Information

When we first started discussions about a fundraiser for March, we knew we wanted to push the envelope and make it our biggest yet. We spent the week calculating totals, and we couldn’t be happier or more proud of players worldwide for your generosity. We’re proud to announce that we are prepared to make our largest donation ever!

We’ve briefly mentioned where the money will be donated, but now, we have more information. The following are the three groups we will be donating to. We want to surprise the recipients in person with the donation amounts, so that information will come when the donations are made.

Skylar

We’ve been honored to help Skylar on her journey from Miss Wheelchair Texas to Miss Wheelchair USA and beyond. We will be donating to her which will allow her to continue her work on behalf of the Miss Wheelchair USA program. “Like” her on Facebook to stay up to date with all of her activities.

Muscular Dystrophy Association

Munzee is working with MDA to better the lives of individuals who have been diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. From research for a cure to MDA Summer Camp, the Muscular Dystrophy Association impacts hundreds of thousands of lives every year. Along with potentially partnering with MDA on other projects, we will be donating to them on behalf of Munzee players worldwide.

You can learn more about MDA at their website and watch a video about what they do here.

Motor Neurone Disease Association

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord. It attacks nerves that control movement, leaving people unable to move, talk, and eventually breathe. There is currently no cure for MND.

The MND Association improves care and support for those with MND, funds and promotes research for an MND cure, and campaigns and raises awareness for people with MND. Munzee’s donation to the MND Association will go towards funding scientists with the goals of studying and developing cures for MND.

You can learn more about MND and the MND Association at their website.

Again, we couldn’t be more proud of everyone who helped raise this money for these causes. We’ll have more information regarding the specific donations very soon. Munzee on!

New Skin Suggestions

We’re looking to update our Urban Camo line of Munzees, and we want your input!

Players in the field know what they want and need to successfully hide Munzees. We want to help grow the game through new skins. These skins can be small like the Shamrock stickers or larger to accommodate new types of Urban Camos. We want to know what you want!

Players who submit chosen designs will be credited with the idea and will receive a pack of these new stickers. (Keep in mind that we already have some new designs in the works already.)

Do you have a suggestion or request for a new skin? Let us know here.

Share Your Munzee Tips and Tricks!

Team Munzee has recently seen players share tips and tricks for Munzee in online groups and at events. Some of us have even learned things we didn’t know! With this in mind, we want to spread the word on some of these tips to help other players, both new and old.

We’re asking you to share your tips/tricks with us as part of a new series of weekly social posts. You can submit them here, and we’ll share some of them on our social media channels every week!

If you’re not already, make sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Instagram! Munzee on!

Changes to Mythological Munzees

You may have noticed something different about the Mythological Munzees the past day. This morning, we altered some things, including:

  • Mythological Munzees can now be capped when being hosted by a munzee you own.
  • The web and app maps will show Mythological Munzees on your own munzees with the correct icons.
  • The app will show Mythological Munzees on the map even if you have your owned munzees filtered out.

These changes are only applicable to the Mythological Munzees and the munzees they land on (greenies and Physical Shamrocks). We want to make being able to cap Mythologicals more fair to players in less dense areas. This DOES NOT mean that you can cap your own greenies or Shamrocks when they are not hosting a Mythological Munzee.

This is currently being considered a trial run. We will be monitoring activity to make sure that this change is not being abused. If we discover that it is, we will revert the changes.

So get to capping! We hope you enjoy these changes. Munzee on!

Player of the Week: Jirka Kallio (Jigge)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Jirka Kallio (Jigge).

2016-02-21 15.27.21
Who are you?

I’m Jirka Kallio, but my friends call me Jigge.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in Orimatila. It is a little town in Finland with about 16k people.

How long have you played Munzee?
I signed up in June 2013, but didn’t make my first capture until 5/19/14.

How did you find Munzee?
The first time I heard of Munzee was in a Finnish cache forum. My friend Eemeliz1 also played and told me about it. He helped me and showed me how to make my own munzees and deploy them. When I started, there were about twenty greenies and one broken diamond. We worked hard, and now there are a few more you can cap. 🙂

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?

  1. Seeing new places. I’ve traveled to many countries and played.
  2. Seeing other players at events or in the field. I’ve arranged all of the events here. It is a little hard to do alone, but rewarding. I arranged the Easter Event with Sivontim.
  3. I also like the new Munzee types that are introduced.
  4. Teaching kids that you can play games outdoors and not always on that PS3 or XBOX in the house.

What is on your wish list?

  1. Visiting MHQ and Munzee Marketplace in the summer of 2017. My plan is to take a one month trip and visit as many cities as I can to play. I’d also like to attend events while I’m there. I still have to save a lot of money for that.
  2. There is Flat Rob, but what about adding a new physical Munzee with the same proximity limits? Flat Jigge? Just kidding 😉

Tell us about yourself!
I’m 33 (maybe 34 when this comes out). My birthday is 3/24. (Editor’s Note: Happy (early) Birthday, Jigge!) I’m single with no kids, so I can play Munzee whenever I want ( like going Unicorn hunting in the middle of the night 😉 ).

I’m a bartender, but I’ll be changing jobs in the next month. My next job will be in a large warehouse where I will be driving a forklift. I’m very excited for it.

I also work with kids and teens as a support person, similiar to a Big Brother. We do things like bowling, rock climbing, going to movies, and so on. I also help them with school work.

Other hobbies include:
Munzee is the biggest thing in my life at this time, but I also like walking/hiking in the forest and taking pictures there. Sometimes I go bouldering or rock climbing with my “little brother”.

Any last words?
Thank you to everyone who nominated me for Player of the Week.

P.S. – Rob, when are you coming to see our beautiful country? 🙂

Jigge also included some socials, so cap away!
