Munzee 3.2.4 and Coins

During Lone Star Bash we introduced a new part to the Munzee game: Coins. The LSB attendees were given a limited edition coin for attending and now is the time to activate that coin! Please read on for more information on Coins and how you can add one to your Munzee gameplay.

coins

We have partnered with Extagz to produce these new game pieces that open up a whole new side of the game. Coins currently allow you to track your captures, and displays them with a map online. You can track virtual and physical captures or only physical captures. (Captures made by use of Blast Captures are not tracked.)

cointrack

As we move forward, new types of Coins will function in different ways and new features will be added as options to all coins.

You may have noticed that Coins are now an option on the Munzee website. Click on the Coins tab to see your current Coins.

coinhome

To activate a Coin, click “Activate New Coin”, and you will be prompted for a code. After linking, you will be taken to the Coin’s homepage.

coinlinkweb

When you click on one of the Coin names, you will be taken to the Coin’s homepage where you can view it’s entries and the map of where captures have been made.

coinadmin

The “Admin” dropdown will allow you to edit and activate/deactivate your Coin. From the “Edit” page, you can change the name of your Coin, add notes, and choose Physical only logs.

coinedit

From the “Visits” tab, you can view where your Coin has been and remove visits by clicking the trashcan icon. You CANNOT add visits.

coinvisits

These functions are the core of Coins and where they will evolve from. We’ve also added Coin functionality to the app.

Munzee 3.2.4 has been pushed to both the App Store and Google Play Store and adds:

  • Coin Functionality
  • Credits View (My Profile -> Credits)
  • Updates to the friend search list
  • Updated Scanner
  • Minor bug fixes

Propagation of the app to your area may take some time, so please be patient.

In the app, you can add and activate/deactivate Coins. To do this, tap on “Coins” under “My Profile” (which is right above “Credits”).

coinpro

This will take you to your Coins list.

coinlist

To add a Coin, tap the “+” icon at the top right, enter your code on the next screen, and tap the checkmark. When a valid code is entered, you will see a confirmation message. Tapping “OK” will return you to the “Coins” page.

From the “Coins” page, you can activate and deactivate coins by swiping left on the name and tapping the activate/deactivate button. Deactivated Coins will show “not active” under the image.

Munzee Pin, Flat Rob, and Longsword Coins are now available in the Munzee Online Store for $10 each.

We can’t wait to see how you use Coins! Stay tuned for future additions to the Coin line and ways to track your coins.

Lone Star Bash Wrap Up

Well Lone Star Bash is over now, and we had a great time. Team Munzee would like to thank everyone who participated, whether it was by attending the events, deploying for others, or interacting with us in other ways. We couldn’t do what we do without you. As Dylan said during his toast on Saturday night at TUPPs, “There are wood ships, and there are steel ships, but the best ships are friendships.” Cheesy? Very. True? Absolutely. The Munzee community brings people from all around the world together and creates lasting friendships. All of us are thankful for the friends that we’ve gained through Munzee, and we’re overjoyed to see the friendships that are created throughout the community.

The weekend was full of great events and great people. From Friday at the State Fair of Texas to Sunday at Celebration Park, there was never a shortage of munzees to cap or fun to be had. We enjoyed every minute of it and hope those in attendance did, too.

There are a few things to note:

  1. Announcements/introductions that were made during Lone Star Bash will be announced on the blog this week.
  2. If you have pictures from this weekend, don’t forget to add them to the Google Drive folder so we can add them to our gallery.
  3. If you did attend Lone Star Bash, keep an eye out for the survey we will be sending out. We’re always looking for feedback to make our events better.

Once again, thank you. You are the reason we do what we do, and we’re proud of how the game and community continues to strengthen and grow. We’re already excited for next year’s event.

P.S. – If you haven’t seen the video of Rob getting taken down by Robbie during Bubble Soccer (or just want to watch it on a loop), you can check out the video on our Instagram.

Lone Star Bash Sale for Everyone

Everything is ready for the Lone Star Bash, and we are counting down the hours until it begins! We’ve already seen some players around the area capping and deploying, and we’re excited to see the rest of the attendees. We do realize, however, that not everyone can join us. We want to share the love and benefits with everyone.

From right now until Sunday at 23:59 MHQ time, Blast Caps and Flat Robs (which are currently on the map) will be on sale in the Munzee Online for $4. Gear up and get ready for a great weekend, whether you’re able to make it to McKinney or not. And remember, take pictures! You can share them with us in our Google Drive folder, and we’ll be creating a gallery!

Have fun, and Munzee on!

*For those of you who found the sale in the store before this blog post, we are giving you additional Flat Robs to equal the amount spent.
**Texas historical marker pins around Collin County (Munzee HQ home) will be live today!

Lone Star Bash Weekend Gallery

Lone Star Bash is two (TWO!!) days away, and we’re getting all of the final touches finished. As always, we’ll be taking pictures along the way and sharing them with you. However, we also want to share pictures that you take over the weekend. Whether you’re attending the bash or celebrating in some form around the world, we want to see!

We’ve set up a Google Drive folder where you can upload images from the weekend. After Lone Star Bash, we’ll be putting together a gallery of the weekend including the pictures we take as well as yours!

We can’t wait to see those coming to Lone Star Bash and the pictures from around the world!

Player of the Week: Jennifer Guyer (nyisutter)

As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Jennifer Guyer (nyisutter).

300th-cacheWho are you?
My name is Jennifer Guyer. My username is nyisutter.

Where in the world do you live?
I live in St. Charles, MO, USA, which is just outside of St. Louis.

How long have you played Munzee?
I started playing June 23, 2014.

How did you find Munzee?
Originally, I learned about Munzee when my brother started hunting for codes while we were at the St. Louis Zoo back in the very early days of Munzee. I didn’t have a smart phone at the time, but when I did finally enter the world of smart phones, I asked him, “What was that game you played?” I downloaded the app and have been enjoying the game every since.

tupps-event

What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
My family and I have always enjoyed scavenger hunts, so Munzee is right up my alley. I love the challenge of earning points and badges and meeting clan goals. I have enjoyed getting to know the local players and playing the game with them. Munzeeing with friends is always more fun. So, of course, I also love attending and hosting events. I also enjoy encouraging and helping new players learn the game and have created a website for our local Munzee community.

I started playing Munzee shortly after learning that I have a rare chronic blood disorder. Munzee has been a great motivator to keep moving and be active despite the extreme fatigue that comes with the illness. Players even helped build a virtual garden near the hospital to give me something to cap after treatment appointments. Munzee players were also my biggest turn out at our last blood drive! (Thank you!)

What is on your wish list?

  1. I would love to see an Emerald Garden in St. Louis! We have a wonderful, ever growing Munzee community.
  2. I would like to see more done with Rovers. Maybe some of the ideas that were initially planned for them. Maybe some more badges that are easier to obtain (though I am closing in on the first one!).
  3. I would like to see Quiz Munzees get a new point structure and maybe some badges so that people little-free-libraryare more motivated to cap them. I love to create themed quiz series, but players rarely cap them.
  4. I hope to be able to travel to more events and munzee rich areas in the future. I got to attend MHQ bash last year and had a lot of fun!
  5. I would love to see the personal special ZeeOps developed! Give me more goals to work toward!

Tell us about yourself!
I am a wife and a mother to three awesome young adults (just graduated the last one from our homeschool this past May) who enjoy scavenger hunts as well and will occasionally accompany me in my crazy Munzee obsession!

I am a childcare worker at our church and am also very involved in a children’s ministry called Awana.

I love to read and recently got to fulfill my dream of being a librarian by opening my very own Little Free Library! Not only do I get to share my love of books, but I get to introduce others to my favorite geo-location games! My
library includes several munzees and a hidden cache, as well as being a part of several other geo games. My library has a small box for payers to exchange munzee stickers with other area players so it is somewhat of a munzee central.

I love to watch hockey, hence my Munzee name and avatar. Let’s go Blues!!

Other hobbies include:
I love to read, watch hockey, travel, maintain my library, hike, camp, hunt for things like munzees, caches (found my 300th cache in McKinney, a CoachV cache), the 250 birthday cakes our city placed for their birthday, and play Eventzee! I love to be outdoors and try to grow things and watch the birds. I am still trying to get the hummingbirds to trust me enough to eat out of my hand feeder.

Any last words?
Thank you to those who nominated me for this great honor! Let’s keep growing the map and having fun! Munzee on!

nyisutter also included some socials, so cap away!

New Munzee Types

Thank you to our loyal supporters as we continue to keep Munzee fresh and evolving! On October 1 we gave a golden carrot credit to all current premium members. The same day we launched the new Evolution munzees. The first series in the evolution set are the garden munzees. We look forward to seeing the creative things our players do to literally grow the game and grow the map! Thank you for the great feedback and support of this new series, available through two forms of the MunzPak. Our physical MunzPak will remain a great value with stickers and the occasional credit or virtual item. We are very pleased with your response to the introduction of a new virtual MunzPak and look forward to growing the program.

We appreciate ALL our players and really look forward to the final quarter of the year. We promise to work hard to grow this community and keep an innovative and exciting game available for everyone to enjoy! We have some exciting things planned to wrap up 2016, so stay tuned!

Munzee ON!

MWTM Wrap Up

We’d like to say thank you for everyone who was able to join us at our Munzee With Team Munzee events throughout the year. Rain, cold, wind, nor heat could stop us from having a great time hanging out with the community and growing the map. As we’ve said before, today’s MWTM event was the last of the year due to holidays throughout the rest of the year. We love getting out with you and playing this wonderful game.

We can’t wait to see even more of you next weekend at Lone Star Bash! We’re excited to make even more great memories!

MunzPaks, Farm Sets, and Sapphires

Two years ago, we launched the MunzPak service with the idea of getting new and exciting products into your hands at a great value. We’ve tinkered and refined our approach to it throughout the years to make sure you have the best experience. Everyone plays the game differently, and it can sometimes be challenging to find the right balance for everyone. One of the questions we’ve been asked frequently is if we were considering a virtual only MunzPak. That answer is now yes.

Starting October 1st, we will be offering both MunzPak and Virtual MunzPak. MunzPak will remain $15 and be the same service it has been, mostly physical stickers with occasional virtuals and credits. Virtual MunzPak will be $25 with a minimum value of $40 each month. It will include virtual and credit items only. Like MunzPak, Virtual MunzPak subscriptions will process at midnight MHQ time, meaning that your items will appear in your account at that time the day your payment is processed. You can subscribe to the MunzPak, the Virtual MunzPak, or both. From the MunzPak homepage, you will be able to subscribe and manage your subscription(s). If you need a refresher on how the recently updated MunzPak homepage works, check out the blog post.

This leads us to the Evolution Munzees and the Farm Set. As we mentioned previously, Premium Members will receive a free Golden Carrot credit on October 1st. Due to the “evolution” part of these munzees, this will only be a convert option for uncapped greenies within the first 24 hours of deploy or for never deployed greenies. This is to avoid potentially missing stages of the evolution (if a greenie that had been deployed three months ago was converted, the time from deployment would have already passed for the stages). The rest of the Farm Set will be launching in the MunzPaks. The Carrot and Peas will be included in the Virtual MunzPak while the Corn and Tomato will be included in the MunzPak.

But wait, there’s more!

gemvirt_dkblue_128

Sapphire is the third hardest mineral with a 9 on the Mohs (hardness rating) Scale, the birthstone of September, and the gem of 5th and 45th anniversaries. It’s also the newest Munzee gem. While the MunzPak has had the Topaz and Pink Diamond, it’s only fitting for the introduction of a new gem alongside the Virtual MunzPak: the Virtual Sapphire. The Virtual Sapphire has a capture radius of 300ft, proximity rules of 50ft from other munzees and 150ft from your your own munzees, and IS blastable. The points are as follows:

  • Deploy: 45
  • Capture: 18
  • CapOn: 9

Now that all of the new munzees are out of the bag, here’s what’s included in the October MunzPaks.

MunzPak

  • 20 Flag Skinned Munzees (10 each of Australia and Finland)
  • 10 Corn Evolution Munzees
  • 10 Tomato Evolution Munzees
  • 4 Topaz
  • 1 Virtual Sapphire

Virtual MunzPak

  • 5 Virtual Carrot Evolution Munzees
  • 5 Virtual Peas Evolution Munzees
  • 2 Virtual Sapphires
  • 2 Diamond Credits
  • 2 Ruby Credits

We realize this is a lot of information all at once, but we wanted to make sure everything was covered. We hope you enjoy these new items and options. We can’t wait to see everything on the map!
