As Munzee has grown over the years, the game has evolved in so many more ways than any of the co-founders could have imagined. We’ve certainly had our fair share of growing pains, but in its essence Munzee has tried to stick to its core goal of getting people out into the world. No one knows this better than those players who have been with us since the beginning. This week’s Player of the Week is Jean-Claude Labrecque (grosseface1).

Saint-Hubert, Quebec, Canada, near Montreal
How long have you played Munzee?
I started playing at the beginning. Munzees were few back then. I captured my first munzee on October 2, 2011.
How did you find Munzee?
I used to cache but had captured pretty much every geocache near and far. Then I met another cacher, and he told us about Munzee. I’ve been playing ever since.
What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I love the specials and like catching them before other players. I also like the clans.
What is on your wish list?
I like new munzees. I’m always waiting for what munzee you will come up with next.
Tell us about yourself:
I like hunting, so maybe that’s why I like Munzee so much.
Other hobbies include:
Hunting and bowling.
Any last words?
I love Munzee, so keep going with new ideas and munzees.

As you’ve probably noticed, we’ve been adding quite a few new badges recently, both new lines and extensions. We are always looking for new ways to expand the collection of badges that can be earned while playing Munzee. We never want to limit the ideas to our own, though, so we’d like to get input from you.
If you have an idea for a new badge, line of badges, or extension to a current line of badges, we’ve opened up a Google Form so that you can share them with us. All you have to do is submit a name (this doesn’t have to be a thought out name, but more of an idea of what the badge is related to) and description. The more similar ideas we receive, the more likely they’ll turn into a full fledged badge! Keep in mind, we do currently have more badges in the works.

Land ho! While you’re sailing the high seas and getting a taste of the RUMs, you have to fly banners of your conquests. Now, you can.
We’ve added a new line of badges for the Reseller Unique Munzees to accompany the current lines. These badges are awarded for deploying 5 RUMs from 1, 3, and 5 unique resellers. These badges ARE retroactive, and will appear in game the morning of September 8th and forward.

In just over five years, Munzee has grown in ways that the co-founders never imagined. A game that started with the idea of a simple QR code “greenie” bringing scavenger hunts into the 21st century has evolved into a worldwide game with hundreds of icons and an amazing worldwide community. Team Munzee couldn’t be more proud of how the players of the game have grown the map together.
This past weekend, we hit an amazing milestone. On Sunday, September 4th at 13:45:51 MHQ time, the 100 millionth capture was made by Shade. To put some perspective on the growth and evolution of the game, our 1 millionth capture occurred in August 2012, over a year after launch.
We are extremely excited about hitting this new mark and look forward to the future with new ideas and ways to make the game better every day. We can’t thank you, our players, enough for everything you do to grow the map and the community. You and your love and passion are what makes the game great.
Congratulations, Shade, on making the 100 millionth capture, and once again, thank you everyone for being amazing players and friends. Here’s to many, many more milestones.

Last month’s Munzee With Team Munzee event was a blast, and we had a great showing of players.

September is the last month that new Zodiacs are being introduced in MunzPak. The final Zodiac, Libra, marks the end of a year long release of the Zodiacs. Now that all of them have been released, we’re offering the ability to purchase a complete pack of Zodiacs.
Each pack contains 5 of each Zodiac (60 total) in the size of the Mini Urban Camos. The Zodiac Pack is available now in the Munzee Online Store for a special price of $30 USD.

Update: Correction to the badges being retroactive. They ARE retroactive.
The “Easy as Pi” badge is a very interesting badge that often requires planning and careful watching of your daily score. As the game has grown and evolved, longer iterations of Pi have shown up as scores. So, we’ve decided to make some changes to the Pi badge.
The current Pi Badge will be retired effective tomorrow, September 1st (you can earn it today). It will be replaced with a line of badges for earning 314, 3141, and 31415 points in one day, based on MHQ hours 00:01 to 23:59 (CST). These badges ARE retroactive.

I live in the South West of England in the town of Honiton which is in the County of Devon.
How long have you played Munzee?
I have been playing Munzee since 1st January 2012. I have capped and deployed most days since 2014. I think I have only missed about 5 days in the last two years.
How did you find Munzee?
I found Munzee through a friend that I have cached with.
What do you most enjoy about Munzee?
I like attending events when I can as well as the Clan Wars, although we don’t tend to go for too high of levels.
