Announcing ZeeQRew: An Elite Munzee Player Program

Are you ready to join the ranks of the most elite group of Munzee players? We’re excited to introduce the all new ZeeQRew program! It’s up to this crew to help clean up the map and replace any missing munzees as they come across them.

ZeeQRew is a group of dedicated players who will earn, on a bi-monthly basis, a special title with special in game rights. They will also be rewarded for their work and for growing the map.

The requirements for joining ZeeQRew are as follows:

Must be a current Premium Member AND
have at least 100,000 lifetime points AND
have at least 250 physical deploys AND
have at least 500 physical captures AND
have at least 1 cap and 1 deploy in the last 14 days

Players’ statuses will automatically be checked at 00:01 on the 1st and 15th of each month. If the requirements are met the player will earn or retain the ZeeQRew title. If the requirements are not met the title will be removed from any current ZeeQRew, BUT it may be re-earned at the next checkpoint.

Rewards:

ZeeQRew title in app & online
The ability to replace any physical Munzee regardless of owner using a generic sticker*
Exclusive ZeeQRew badge (pictured below)
Access to special products only available to ZeeQRew
- Unique merchandise
- Discounted greenies (generic stickers)
- Additional items and perks as decided by MHQ

The program will officially launch on Friday September 28th, the exclusive products will then launch in early October. When the program begins we ask that any player with concerns about ZeeQRew activity report any issues to support.

We’re excited to finally take the next steps in growing and maintaining the map. We know that members of ZeeQRew will prove to be an integral part of the game and we look forward to all sorts of new opportunities for them. For those that are not currently eligible for ZeeQRew we encourage you all to prove yourselves by accomplishing the requirements. This crew will only grow over time as our game grows!

Seasonal Munzee Point Update & International Peace Day Personals!

We’re excited to announce a point increase on Seasonal Munzees, which will go into effect at 00:01 MHQ on September 22!

The new point structure is as follows:

Seasonal Munzee Points:

Deploy- 50 points
Capture- 40 points
CapOn- 20 points

For a refresher Seasonal Munzees are similar to the Evolution Munzees in that they change after a period of time. Seasonal Munzees will change to the corresponding season on set dates:

October 1st – Fall (Northern Hemisphere)/Spring (Southern Hemisphere)
January 1st – Winter (Northern Hemisphere)/Summer (Southern Hemisphere)
April 1st – Spring (Northern Hemisphere)/Fall (Southern Hemisphere)
July 1st – Summer (Northern Hemisphere)/Winter (Southern Hemisphere)

This cycle will be continuous, but you can only capture each stage of the munzee once (i.e. if you capture the Fall stage, you cannot capture the Fall stage a year later).

Previously Seasonal Munzees have only been available in MunzPaks, which means there haven’t been a large quantity of these deployed around the world. We want to change that! We have some cool future plans for Seasonal Munzees, but we need more of them deployed before we can reveal those ideas. Think you can help us grow the Seasonal map?

Fairy Mythological Munzee and RetireMyth News!

ARGHHHH! Thanks to the seafaring skills of our worldwide players, the first Pirate Day community challenge was completed! As we promised, you all have unlocked the newest Mythological Munzee: The Fairy!

Fleeting Fairies:

Starting tomorrow September 20th at 10:00 MHQ time, a limited number of Fairy Mythological Munzees will be available in the Munzee Online Store for $25.00 each. Like the other Mythologicals, each player is limited to one (1) Fairy Munzee per account, and the sale is open to anyone regardless of other Mythological ownership.

Much like the Mermaid, Fairies already have the Myth Upgrade built in. As the owner of a Fairy Munzee you’ll have the ability to “nudge” the creature to a new munzee up to three times a day (MHQ 24 hour day) but only after it has been on it’s host Munzee for 3 hours. The ability to nudge is only available for the owner via the webpage for the Fairy, not available in app.

You’ll also be able to rename your Fairy to whatever you want! The name will still retain the unique number, but feel free to get creative and customize these curious creatures. Please keep in mind our player code of conduct and family friendly environment! ?

These curious creatures are attracted to Greenies and regular Mystery Munzees, but they also fly to Air Mystery Munzees as well. The Fairy will bounce to these types every 12 hours or when capped.

Fairies are attracted to Magnets, which you can attach to greenies to increase your odds of finding myths and specials.

Name: The Fairy

Description: The Fairy Munzee bounces on Greenies, regular Mystery Munzees, and Air Mystery Munzees every 12 hours or when capped. Each is numbered and owned by a Munzee player. Only 1 Fairy Munzee is allowed per account. You will also earn the Fairy badge for owning a Fairy Munzee.

Points:

Deploy: 250
Capture: 200
CapOn: 100

There is not currently a traditional line of badges for capturing unique Fairy Munzees yet, but these will count toward the Myth Hunter badge line. Stay tuned for a line of badges similar to the other Myth Ranker badges soon. In the meantime, you never know what you might earn for capturing Fairies…

Alongside the release of the Fairy Munzee, we also have some news regarding some of our older Mythological Munzees.

Although we pride ourselves on our worldwide community of players, sometimes the weight of the game can be too much to handle. So as players become inactive for a variety of reasons, poor, innocent Mythological Munzees are abandoned to roam the world alone. It has fallen on us to give these Myths a new place to belong. Beginning Wednesday September 26th at 00:01 any myth owned by Inactive/Retired players will be archived until the player becomes active again.

There’s a twist though! The abandoned Myths have a strong will and at various points in time will come back to the world of the living as RetireMyths.

A new RetireMyth will be deployed on the account of Inactive/Retired players and at certain times they will haunt the map. These new creatures will award a new icon, but will not be worth any Deploy or CapOn points. When first released each will be worth 500 capture points, but that number will decrease by one point for each new capture.

RetireMyths will not be attracted to Munzee Magnets, but they will land on the same types as its regular Myth counterpart. There will be a new badge line for capturing RetireMyths coming soon as well as more information regarding when they will be live on the map.

Talk Like A Pirate Day Specials And More!

ARGHHHHHH! Wednesday September 19th be “Talk Like A Pirate Day” and ye better be ready to walk the plank!

Come Sail Away:

We’re excited to announce that from 00:01 MHQ on September 17 until 23:59 MHQ September 23 Pirate Ship specials will be sailing across the map!

In case you didn’t know, the current version of the Munzee app has the ability to set your in-app language to Pirate. This fun feature unfortunately will be walking the plank in version 4.0 though so we wanted to send it off in style.

500 Cargo Ship specials will bounce on Greenies every 6 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to physical Munzee Magnets and you’ll earn 45 points for Capture and 45 points for CapOn.

500 Treasure Ship specials will bounce on RUMs, Premium, and Physical Jewel Munzees every 6 hours or when captured. These will NOT be attracted to magnets and you’ll earn 45 points for Capture and 45 points for CapOn.

500 Ghost Ship virtual specials will bounce on MVMs, Emerald, and Amethyst Munzees every 6 hours or when captured. These will be attracted to Virtual Munzee Magnets and you’ll earn 45 points for Capture and 45 points for CapOn.

Ye landlubbers want badges, aye?! Well the west wind seems to be blowing your way!

There are a variety of badges you can earn for capturing Talk Like A Pirate Day Specials and these will also count toward the Specials Badges. There are a total of six badges you can earn throughout the allotted Specials timeframe. We’ll show you the three for capping each of the different Special types, but you’ll have to discover the other three* yourselves!

: Starboard Stowaway- Capture at least one Cargo Ship Pirate Day Special

: Gilded Sea Glider- Capture at least one Treasure Ship Pirate Day Special

: Davy Jones’ Locker- Capture at least one Ghost Ship Pirate Day Virtual Special

If it’s treasure ye want, you don’t need a map to find it!

The Freeze Tag Online Store has a Pirate Pack for luring out stranded sailors as well as a new Pirate Personal Tag too. Per usual these are in limited quantity so get yours before they run out! In order to help ye quest for these Pirate pins, we are also changing up how you can purchase Munzee Magnets. A Magnet reset will take place Monday at 10:00 MHQ and moving forward players will be able to purchase up to 10 Magnets every 10 days. This will count for both Physical and Virtual Magnets, and it doesn’t matter when the last time you bought Magnets is; the reset will wipe your record clean as of Monday.

All Hands On Deck:

In order to up the ante for our worldwide crew of Pirates, we’re also excited to introduce two community challenges!

First, if our worldwide community is able to capture a collective 1,500 Pirate Ship specials of all three kinds, collectively, in the first 48 hours of setting sail, we will release a new Mythological Munzee next week! To sweeten the pot, the first 1,500 Pirate Ship special captures will be entered into a drawing to win one of the new Myths for FREE.

Second, if the community can capture a total of 15,000 Pirate Ship specials before they leave the map, you’ll unlock double points on Flats for a weekend in October! We won’t spill the beans on when exactly that is just yet, but it’s sure to be a scary good time. For reference, just over 13,000 bacon specials were captured in our most recent special icon fun! Everyone will have to work together to earn this special reward!

Introducing the NEW Munzee Logo!

We are proud to announce that alongside the release of Munzee 4.0 beta, we are officially launching an all new Munzee logo.

For seven years the Munzee logo has continued to evolve, but much like the game itself the focus has always been on the Greenie icon. Greenies are the backbone of the Munzee gameplay experience. These pins bridge the gap between our real world gaming arena and the technology that makes it happen. The Munzee logo holds a place in the hearts of many of our players, and certainly of our team. We all wear it like a badge of honor on stickers, patches, and shirts across the world. This new version is simply an evolution of the concept that has brought us all together.

The new logo features a new font and perhaps most notably an updated version of the pin icon. We have replaced the traditional rounded GPS pin with a square design, which is modeled after our QR code game pieces. The new icon represents a merger of the QR code and GPS pin. As two individual icons these represent key functions of Munzee’s gameplay; together these represent the game itself.

The redesign of the Munzee pin icon also represents a practical gameplay function. In the newest version of the app all in-game munzee designs have been changed to reflect the difference between physical and virtual munzees. Moving forward, all physical munzees will be represented by square icons to signify that they are QR code stickers players can locate in the real world. All virtual munzees will retain the rounded pin shape and feature a prominent “V” marking.

Many of you may be asking, why change what works? Why mess with a symbol the community has gathered behind for years? We’re happy you asked. The decision to redesign the logo, in part, was based around the merger of Munzee Inc. and Freeze Tag Games last October. The previous version doubled as a logo for both the game of Munzee and the company that developed it.

When a brand tries to identify as both a company and a game, it becomes difficult to balance the professionalism of the business with the creativity of the gameplay experience. After the merger we were very aware of the need to focus on the Munzee brand and define what that means. Our hope is that this new logo embodies the adventure, discovery and whimsical experience of playing Munzee.

We want you to show your pride in Munzee’s past, present and future so new Apparel and Personal Tags are NOW AVAILABLE in the Freeze Tag Online Store! The new collection includes shirts, hats and more featuring the new logo, but new designs will also be released at launch of the 4.0 app as well.

Our purpose in announcing the new logo now is so we can have everything prepared by the time the new app launches. We’re excited to announce a point increase on Scatter Munzees, which will go into effect at 00:01 MHQ on September 13!

The new point structures are as follows:

Scatter Munzee Points:

Deploy- 45 points
Capture- 45 points
CapOn- 40 points

Scattered Munzee Points:

Capture- 60 points
CapOn- 20 points

Announcing Retired Account Physical Munzee Archival

In our continued effort to expand opportunities to new players, and keep the map full of Munzees that can be captured, we will be taking the next steps in inactive account archival. Starting at 00:01 September 17, 2018 we will begin archiving some physical munzees for all accounts with no activity in the past 720 days. These accounts will now be considered “Retired” unless there is some sort of activity between now and the 17th.

The physical munzees that will be archived are those created by individual players, not official MHQ stickers with generic codes, with no activity in the past 180 days. If you would like to keep munzees active in your area please cap them before this time. The purpose of this initiative is to open up spots for new players to deploy and also to uphold maintenance on game pieces that may be missing or have been weathered down. This ideally should help with bouncing specials, Myths and Nomads as well.

We will also make Recycles active Thursday September 13 at 10:00 MHQ through Saturday September 15 at 10:00 MHQ. This will better help you see old munzees in risk of being archived. We do not want to keep Recycles active the entire weekend though, so you can still get the munzees in Jewel form if you would like for September Clan Wars requirements.

Announcing Halloween Event Packages and Event Munzee Point Update!

Due to popular demand we are running a special events package for Halloween this year!

Similar to what we’ve done with MunzFit events before, it’s a set package with a generic badge that can be customised for your event. Halloween event packages are available for events scheduled between Friday 12th October to Wednesday 31st October.
