Munzee Backend Updates
MUNZEE BACKEND UPDATE- Aug 8th: We are moving forward with launching the update Wednesday, August 9th at 10:00 MHQ. Please note that for the time being Munzee Event Packages have been removed from the store for testing purposes. For many months now our team has been tirelessly working on a game-wide backend update that we hope will allow us to take Munzee to all new heights! It’s become important to establish a strong foundation so we can build an ecosystem that allows for growth, sustainability and a more secure experience for players new and old.
The new backend update will begin on either Tuesday, August 8th or Wednesday August 9th at 10:00 MHQ, but if that changes we will announce specific dates and times by 15:00 MHQ on Monday August 7th. We expect that there will be downtime for a minimum of a few hours while these changes are being made. This means that both the Munzee app and website will be inaccessible during this time.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Players will need to plan to download the latest update from the app stores to continue playing after the new backend update has gone live. You will be required to reset your password and login using your email address instead of your username in this latest version. If you do not see the reset password email please check your junk folder before reaching out to Support. We lined out these details in our previous announcement HERE but we want to reiterate the importance of this step! This will be your LAST chance to adjust your email address before this change goes live if you haven’t already updated it yet.
Once the backend update is finished, we will be monitoring gameplay to make sure everything is working as expected. If players notice any issues please visit https://status.munzee.com/ or the Munzee Discord channel for that latest information. If you do not see a known issue listed you may reach out to Munzee Support at support@munzee.com.
Although we have turned over every stone internally, and worked with beta testers externally, there can be unforeseen experiences once everything is live. Because of this it is possible the game could be offline through Wednesday, August 9th. This is obviously not ideal, but we hope to have this wrapped up before the end of the week and if the worst case scenario leads us into Thursday or Friday down times we will adjust monthly gameplay accordingly. If any issues do cause unexpected outages for more than 3 hours during a single day, that day will be covered as a blackout day to avoid breaking any streaks.
This update will also impact the Munzee website, calendar, and store, so please be patient as some features are still being worked on. We don’t expect any of this to drastically alter your gameplay experience, but some areas may not be working to full capacity immediately.
Many, many hours have gone into this project and our whole team has worked hard to identify the best time to make this change. With so many active players this is a tough needle to thread, so we appreciate all understanding, and this is ultimately for the good of the game as a whole.
