Changes around MHQ

In July 2011, Munzee was born from the blood, sweat, and tears of 4 co-founders. Aaron Benzick, Scott Foster, Chris Pick, and Josh Terkelson took an idea from Aaron and released it to the world. Within months the game was worldwide and gaining players at a rapid rate.  In June 2012, Rob Vardeman joined the team to work with the community and business relations. All members of Team Munzee worked as volunteers, nights and weekends, after working full time jobs during the day.  Over the next year, as Munzee grew Josh and Chris stepped down in order to focus on family and their full time jobs. Additional team members have been added, both full and part time. The game continues to evolve and grow. This weekend a big change occurred as Aaron stepped down as President of Munzee, with Rob named in his place effective immediately. Rob is honored and excited to lead Munzee forward into the coming years. We are thankful to Aaron for leading Munzee to this point and appreciate the work he placed into this game we all LOVE so much! Thank you Aaron!

Munzee Motel available in the store now! Premium users are able to purchase the Munzee Motel for $2 each with a maximum of 5 motels per month.  MHQ is very excited about the addition of the motel to your toolkit.  Learn all the details about the Motel here.   All current premium members will receive one free motel and it will be included in the future premium members kit as well.

Player Messaging is no longer a Premium-Only feature, it is now available to ALL players! You will find the messaging icon next to your username at the top of your account page.

Oktoberfest has ended. We hope you were able to get some of the icons and extra points! For those who captured all three icons you will soon be receiving the Oktoberfest 2013 badge!

Today a new style of Munzee has been introduced into the game.  Players have the opportunity to add multiple choice questions to a regular or virtual Munzee.  This is a free feature available to all players.  Please see our our help manual for all the details.

Oktoberfest! Wunderbar!

September 21 at midnight CEST ( GMT +2 ) Munzee kicks off the Oktoberfest celebration!  This launch coincides with the Oktoberfest event which originates in Munich but is celebrated across the globe.  Munzee will celebrate from September 21st through October 6th.  We will place 3 different icons on the Munzee map which will “bounce” all over the world.  This bouncing will work the same as our birthday cake celebration with a shorter time limit per icon.

How to capture one of the Oktoberfest icons:  1) wait for one to land near you. 2) Check to see the amount of remaining time. 3) Gauge the distance and time related to your location.  4) Apply maximum speed allowed in order to get the capture.     ♥Munzee

And now the actual rules. Oktoberfest icons will land on REGULAR Munzees across the entire world. The first person to capture the Munzee before the 6 hour time limit expires will be awarded the icon and related points. Previously captured Munzees become active again when a special icon is attached. You may NOT capture a special icon on a Munzee you own. Premium members have a “Specials” filter for use in the app. If an icon is not captured within the 6 hour window it will jump to a new location somewhere else in the world.  There will be 333 of each icon active at any given time. This is a total of 999 icons circulating around the world. This increases the likelihood of players receiving a capture and earning more than one icon. September Clan War Weapons!

September will be a special Clan War Month!

Team Munzee will reward your clan with weapons when you achieve certain levels of play.

Rules:

  1. Your clan must be full (10 players) to qualify for weapon rewards.  No partial clans will qualify.  Visit the forum to recruit additional players if needed.  A separate forum account is necessary to interact.
  2. Munzee Code of Conduct applies to all players.  No “phantom” accounts or multiple accounts for only one real person.
  3. All members of your clan must reach the point level in order to earn the reward for the entire clan.
  4. Rewards will be sent via email to each member of your clan.
  5. Individual weapon rewards will not be available.  Entire clan or none.
  6. Clan weapons will be calculated and dispersed via email nightly at Midnight MHQ time.

Weapons:

          Brass knuckles, Munzee mace, Munzee longsword, and “The Chuck”.  Function of weapons will be explained via email when earned by entire clan.  🙂  Believe me, you will want them!

Levels:

  • Brass knuckles will be awarded when each member of your clan reaches at least 100 points.  This is not a cumulative total.  It is based on each individual in your clan earning 100 points or more.
  • Munzee mace level will be announced when the first clan earns the weapon.  If no clan has achieved this level by September 6th we will update this post.
  • Munzee longsword level will be announced when the first clan earns the weapon.  If no clan has achieved this level by September 11th we will update this post.
  • The Chuck level will be announced when the first clan earns the weapon.  If no clan has achieved this level by September 15th we will update this post.

6 days of bacon

6 days of bacon!

Begins August 25th, 2013 at 9PM CST   —   Ends August 31st, 2013 at 11:59PM CST  Find your time zone here

  • Bacon special logo will be randomly added to regular Munzees deployed all around the globe
  • Each bacon will be available for capture by 3 DIFFERENT players (new feature)
  • The bacon logo will show how many pieces of bacon remain to be captured (3 strips = 3 captures, 2 strips = 2 caps, 1 strip = 1 cap)
  • If you are First to capture the bacon you receive 20 points, second receives 15 points, third receives 10 points
  • Each capture will earn the 1 strip bacon logo
  • Players may return to any previously captured Munzee which shows a bacon logo
  • Players may not capture their own Munzee

Walk off your Bacon Day!

For the final day of Munzee’s 6 days of Bacon contest we are giving you prizes!  All day long (CDT) August 31 we will randomly award virtual and diamond Munzees.  All prizes are instant win, will pop up on your phone, and be added to your account!  We hope you will get out there and walk off all that bacon you capture in the 6 days of bacon contest!
