It’s the Great Pumpkin Evolution!

It’s the spooky season and a time honored tradition is to get a pumpkin and carve a Jack O’Lantern. These gourds are also used to make a special pumpkin pie many Americans associate with the fall and other traditional holiday celebrations. MHQ is proud to bring the Pumpkin Evo into our Farm Set Evolutions and is available now through the Freeze Tag Store!

Here’s an example of one of the stage 5 bouncer options!

We’ve also made an adjustment to streaks and now ALL Evolution Munzees with bouncers (Pumpkin, Bees, Turtles, etc) will earn a deploy for the day the bouncer is spawned. This means that you’ll want to take advantage of Evo Reset Credits in order to get the most out of your Evolution Munzees!

NEW Farm Set Evolution Munzee

This Evolution is a bit different from the previous Farm Set Evolutions, as there are 5 stages total, versus the usual 3. Here is an explanation of the timeframe for this munzee.

  • Stage 1 to Stage 2: after 5 days (5 days total)
  • Stage 2 to Stage 3: after 14 days (19 days total)
  • Stage 3 to Stage 4: after 56 days (75 days total)
  • Stage 4 permanent on map unless Reset to stage one
  • Stage 5 will exist for 45 days or 10 captures, whichever happens first, at which time the temporary Pumpkin POB will be archived.

Once these Evolutions reach Stage 4, a temporary POB will be launched, which is Stage 5. The three variants of Stage 5 Pumpkins will bounce to both physical and virtual landing pads every 8 hours. They have the option of emerging as one of the three different species shown below:

Once Stage 5 is reached on the 75th day, it will remain that way on the map — unless of course, it is reset with an Evolution Reset Credit.

The point values for the pumpkin fall in line with other 5 stage evolution types.

    • Stage 1: Cap: 50, CapOn: 30
    • Stage 2: Cap: 40, CapOn: 20
    • Stage 3: Cap: 45, CapOn: 25
    • Stage 4: Cap: 40, CapOn: 30
    • Stage 5: Cap: 150, CapOn: 50, Host CapOn: 50

The 5th stage pumpkin evo bouncers will land on a vast array of Munzees including:

  • Greenie
  • All Farm Evolution Munzees
  • Seasonal
  • All Flats
  • Citrine
  • Earth Mystery
  • Water Mystery
  • All Virtual Colors
  • Treehouse
  • Skyland

To access these munzees, turn on your “Evolution” filters. They will count toward Evolution Capture and Deploy badges.

We hope these new munzees breathe new life into the Farm Set and continue to make farming fun!

Bountiful BOO-loon Weekend!

Spooky season is here and we’re shivering with anticipation! This weekend kicks off our first Double Point Weekend in October, and to celebrate this scary scene we’ve added new and returning Halloween themed Greeting Cards back in the store! No, we’re not just full of hot air, October 1 also marked World Balloon Day so we’ve got a new set of BOO-loon Greeting Cards for you to show how much you scare!

NEW Greeting Card Details

We have 4 new Limited Edition cards for your deploying pleasure!

The BOO-loon Greeting Cards feature a variety of ghostly grimaces, some fun and some freaky, that you can send to friends around the world. These creepy cards will only be available in the Freeze Tag Store until November 6th at 12:00 MHQ, so don’t miss out!

Don’t forget to edit the title and the notes to add a personal touch! While the capture message will contain your Munzee username as all Greeting Card capture messages do, we think typing in a more specific note will go a long way to creating a more unique and special experience!

Remember that these munzees will be archived 7 days after they are deployed, so make sure your intended recipient captures it before then!

Get Spooky with our NEW Witch’s Potions Specials!

Do you hear that? That’s the sound of Spooky Season approaching! It’s that time of year when the leaves turn golden, and the air becomes crisp with the scent of adventure. To celebrate the spooktacular season, we’re delighted to introduce the enchanting Witch’s Potions Specials! Get ready to embark on a bewitching journey filled with 25 different Ingredient MOBs. Let’s dive into the cauldron of excitement and see what’s brewing!

Witch’s Potion Specials

Witch’s Potions specials are now live on the map for everyone and will remain available until Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 23:59 MHQ.

Similar to Hot Dogz specials, there will be 12 physical Ingredients and the 13 virtual Ingredients released throughout the month, including 4 extra limited-time Ingredients for Friday the 13th– so get ready! You will be building “Potions” which equate to badges with these ingredients, so the more you cap the more potions you’ll create! 

At launch you can expect to see the ingredients shown below, but more ingredients will appear as the month goes on, so make sure to keep an eye out! We’ll be releasing 150 of each Ingredient, except for the Friday the 13th specials which will get 300 of each, so make sure you get out there and grab some icky Ingredients FAST!

Some of the potion badges have magical effects and will award a booster to the owner!

All Ingredients will bounce around every 4 hours or when capped.

These specials will be available for multi-capture. These munzees will not be blastable. They will be attracted to Magnets, available from the Freeze Tag Online Store. You can access the Witch’s Potion ingredients under the “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Specials” filters.

Badges

We’ve created 9 NEW Badges for you to earn via specific gameplay actions! There’s two badge lines, Potions for capping specific ingredients and Witch’s Tools for overall caps!

We’ll show you the first of each badge and their requirements! It’s up to you to figure out the rest!

Behind the Scenes: Sept 26th, 2023

We’re writing today with an update of what we’ve accomplished over the past week. We’ll also include what we are currently working on and some upcoming fixes yet to begin.

Munzee Backend Updates

MUNZEE BACKEND UPDATE- Aug 8th: We are moving forward with launching the update Wednesday, August 9th at 10:00 MHQ. Please note that for the time being Munzee Event Packages have been removed from the store for testing purposes. Check the Munzee Status page for updates and subscribe to receive a notification when everything is back online: https://status.munzee.com/

For many months now our team has been tirelessly working on a game-wide backend update that we hope will allow us to take Munzee to all new heights! It’s become important to establish a strong foundation so we can build an ecosystem that allows for growth, sustainability and a more secure experience for players new and old. 

The new backend update will begin on either Tuesday, August 8th or Wednesday August 9th at 10:00 MHQ, but if that changes we will announce specific dates and times by 15:00 MHQ on Monday August 7th. We expect that there will be downtime for a minimum of a few hours while these changes are being made. This means that both the Munzee app and website will be inaccessible during this time. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Players will need to plan to download the latest update from the app stores to continue playing after the new backend update has gone live. You will be required to reset your password and login using your email address instead of your username in this latest version. If you do not see the reset password email please check your junk folder before reaching out to Support. We lined out these details in our previous announcement HERE but we want to reiterate the importance of this step! This will be your LAST chance to adjust your email address before this change goes live if you haven’t already updated it yet.

Once the backend update is finished, we will be monitoring gameplay to make sure everything is working as expected. If players notice any issues please visit https://status.munzee.com/ or the Munzee Discord channel for that latest information. If you do not see a known issue listed you may reach out to Munzee Support at support@munzee.com. 

Although we have turned over every stone internally, and worked with beta testers externally, there can be unforeseen experiences once everything is live. Because of this it is possible the game could be offline through Wednesday, August 9th. This is obviously not ideal, but we hope to have this wrapped up before the end of the week and if the worst case scenario leads us into Thursday or Friday down times we will adjust monthly gameplay accordingly. If any issues do cause unexpected outages for more than 3 hours during a single day, that day will be covered as a blackout day to avoid breaking any streaks.

This update will also impact the Munzee website, calendar, and store, so please be patient as some features are still being worked on. We don’t expect any of this to drastically alter your gameplay experience, but some areas may not be working to full capacity immediately.

Many, many hours have gone into this project and our whole team has worked hard to identify the best time to make this change. With so many active players this is a tough needle to thread, so we appreciate all understanding, and this is ultimately for the good of the game as a whole. Thank you all for your continued passion and cheers to the future of Munzee!

Dozens & Dragons Universal Details

The theme of this year’s Birthday Month is Dozens & Dragons! We’re embracing our love for all things fantasy and we want you to as well! And to add to the fun, we’re releasing a NEW Dozens & Dragons Universal! 

A Universal has the same point structure as a regular Personal:

  • Capture: mystery random points 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45
  • CapOn: sum of 50 between player capture and residual
    • Example: player capture = 30, owner residual = 20. Total = 50
  • Deploy: 100 points (only deploy it once with no proximity or expiration!)
  • **Boosters will have no effect on Universal points.

You can find your Universal in the My Social Munzees section of the app, or the corresponding page on the website.

Like the 11th Birthday Universals, these will be auto-deployed upon purchase!

NEW Dice Tower Details

Get ready to roll the dice and seize your chance at fantastic prizes with our NEW Dice Tower! 

  • Capture the Dice Tower once a day to receive a prize
    • It MUST be captured consecutively every day to receive all 12 prizes, similar to a mailbox
    • You might receive a different prize than others on a given day, but everyone will have received all the same prizes by the end of the 12 days
    • It will be auto-archived at the end of the 12th day after being deployed
  • After rolling to receive a prize, one Mythological Munzee will be summoned to the Dice Tower for you to capture
    • NOTE – It may take some time for a bouncer to land, so be sure to check back again soon
  • The Dice Tower also acts as a standard landing pad, which means anytime a bouncer happens to land there, you will be able to capture it!
  • Other players will also be able to capture your Dice Tower, but will not receive a prize
    • This is to prevent hiding bouncers on privately owned types, so anyone will be able to capture a bouncer that lands there.
  • The Dice Tower may be moved to new locations in order for the owner to keep up with the daily prize captures
    • NOTE – If a bouncer is sitting on the Dice Tower when moved, it will be force nudged and removed
  • ALL DICE TOWERS WILL BE AUTO-ARCHIVED ON JANUARY 1, 2024
    • Don’t save this gamepiece in your inventory for too long! Make sure you deploy it at least 12 days before the end of the year, otherwise it will be archived.

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Stargazing Specials!

Twinkle, twinkle, little Stargazing specials… how I wonder where you are! What will these mythical constellations say about you? We’re kicking off our Dozens & Dragons 12th Birthday by honoring our twelve Mythological Munzees!

Shine bright like a star with our NEW Stargazing specials! Powered by a 12-sided dodecahedron lens, you’ll encounter all kinds of different Myth-themed constellations, as long as you have your trusty telescope with you! Starting NOW, the physical Telescope and virtual Spyglass MOBs will bounce around the map until Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 04:00 MHQ – which, is exactly 1000 hours! We wanted to see if the community could reach all the goals within 1000 hours – thankfully these specials didn’t take 1000 hours to launch, but can you complete the set within that time?

Stargazing Specials

These outer space observations will be released in waves, but will end at a total of 1500 Telescopes and 1500 Spyglasses. They will bounce around on the map every 4 hours or when captured. When you capture one of these specials it will reveal a variety of different icons including Constellations and Consolations. Only the Telescope or Spyglass icon will show on the map, but at launch there are a possibility of 6 different Stargazing icons for each (a total of 12 different results) revealed after the special is captured.

You can find these specials at the following Munzees near you:

Both of the Stargazing Constellations will be worth 150 Capture points and 50 CapOn points, and the Consolations will be worth 50 Capture points and 50 CapOn points points so you don’t want to miss out! The Telescope will be attracted to Physical Magnets, while the Spyglass will be attracted to Virtual Magnets. To access these specials, please turn on your “All Expiring Specials” and “All Limited Edition Specials” filters.

Constellations and Consolations:

Capturing a Telescope or Spyglass will reveal what’s at the other end of the lens! The purpose of Stargazing is to identify different mythical Constellations, but sometimes you might have to settle for a Consolation! At launch you can expect to see the Unicornis and Leipreachan Constellations as well as a few others, but you also might come across a Smudged View or Cracked Spyglass Consolation. We’ll keep the rest of the captivating constellations a secret for now, but more types will appear as the month goes on, so make sure to keep an eye out!

Badges:

We’ve created a whopping 17 NEW Badges for you to earn via specific gameplay actions! There’s a variety of different ways to earn these, some from capturing certain amounts of constellations, others from overall Stargazing captures, and more! We’ll show you two and keep the rest a secret. It’s up to you to figure out the requirements for the other badges – good luck!

Community Goals:

As every good D&D party will tell ye, “teamwork makes the dream work” and we’re challenging you all to work as a community to unlock NEW Myth Skins designed by WallaBee artist Andy Cameron! What better way to celebrate our fantasy themed birthday, than by giving the original 12 Myths a fresh look? Starting with the Unicorn, the community will need to capture 12,000 capture Stargazing Specials to permanently unlock the new skin for owners of the myth bouncer. Once the goal is hit all normal Unicorns will auto convert to the new skin! Please allow up to 24 hours for the new Myth images to update. If anyone has any Unicorn variants or skins equipped those won’t be auto swapped but you will have access to convert to the new skin.

Myth owners will also earn a corresponding badge featuring the new Myth design for achieving the goal. Once the first goal is met the community will need to earn an additional 12,000 capture Stargazing Specials to unlock the next Myth design. This pattern will continue for all 12 Myths, so keep capping Stargazing Specials all month long!

These new designs will be the official Myth designs moving forward, but players that own any of the 12 original Myths will still be able to swap back to the old “Legacy Skins” after these new ones are earned. Once birthday month is over, all newly purchased myths will use these new skins moving forward, so the legacy skins will no longer be attainable. July will be the last chance for players to purchase and lock in access to the legacy skins before they’re gone forever! Any Myths that are purchased from July 1st to July 31st will be retroactively awarded the legacy skins in early August.

CuppaZee Tracking:

How can you keep track of the community’s progress toward these new goals? Through the handy dandy CuppaZee app, of course! There you will find a public leaderboard that is tracking the number of overall Stargazing Specials captured by the entire community! Pretty cool, right?

Discover Your Inner Playwright with Flat Typewriter Scatters!

There’s nothing better than the click clacking of fingers flying on an old typewriter. Except perhaps… a Flat Typewriter Scatter Event! To celebrate National Typewriter Day and Craig’s birthday, we’re excited to announce that we’re re-releasing Craig’s Flat Typewriter scatters for the weekend!

Limited Time Scatter Details

From the period of Wednesday, June 21st at 12:00 MHQ through Sunday, June 25th at 23:59 MHQ, when you capture a Flat Typewriter, up to 3 Stories may be scattered nearby!

The Stories, which are based on actual novels and plays Craig has written, will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Flat Typewriter owner’s account. This means that unlike Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner! They expire after 120 minutes, have a capture radius of 300 feet, and you’ll be able to use Rover Treats to capture them as well! These Story scatters will NOT count for deploy streaks, ZeeOps, or clan activity since they are passive deploys.

The rewards for Stories are as follows:

  • Capture: 50 points
  • CapOn: 25 points

Meet…the Owlbear! A NEW Storyland Myth!

Hey everyone! We’re excited to announce the launch of our NEW Storyland Myth: the Owlbear! The Owlbear is a staple in many fantasy stories, and we can’t wait to bring it into the Munzee universe! This ferocious fusion will be available for $20 – good luck taming this beast! This is a limited time sale and will be removed from the store in two weeks on Thursday, June 29th at 12:00 MHQ. Click HERE to grab one!

NEW Owlbear Details

Like the other Mythological Munzees, the Owlbear is a permanent POB. Following the Jabberwock and the Treefolk, it is the 4th of a NEW Storyland line of Myths, so expect to see more creative creatures in the future!

You can find these ferocious fowls clambering to the landing pads above every 12 hours or when captured.

Owlbears will be available for multi-capture. That means players can capture an Owlbear on their own munzees, any previously captured munzees, and more than once if the same Owlbear visits you. Owlbears are non-blastable. They will be attracted to Physical Magnets. You can access them by turning on your “All Expiring Specials” filter.

When an Owlbear is captured, it will scatter up to 3 Owlbear Eggs.

These scatters will be visible to any player and will be deployed on the Owlbear’s owner’s account. This means that unlike Air Mystery Feathers/Boulders, there are CapOn points for the owner!
