Munzee Events in 2023!

We’ve almost had a full year of monthly Munzee events and it’s been brilliant to see you all getting back out there and meeting up again. Don’t forget to host and attend an event for the last couple of months of this year to unlock all the goodies available, more details on those to come very soon!

Monthly Event Packages

After so much wonderful feedback on the monthly event packages we are going to continue offering them for 2023, but with some changes:

There will be a new theme but the packages remain the same in price and contents. See the 2022 blog for those details.

For $50 you will get the following:

A Munzee Event Account and Event Indicator Pin
50 Event Pins
No proximity restrictions (event pins still have to be 100 ft apart though)
1 Electric Mystery + 5 Virtuals
50 2023 Monthly Event Greeting Cards (same design every month)
Monthly Munzee Event 2023 Host badge (unique design every month)
Monthly Munzee Event 2023 Attendee badge (unique design every month)

There will again be the incentives to host and attend all 12 of the monthly events with badges, freebies and a new title. We’re really excited to reveal this year’s rewards and next year will be even bigger and better. Hosts will remember we gave a special gift during September for Player AppreZEEation month which was unannounced in advance.

Changes in 2023

We want to get back to players actually meeting up and events happening at a set time and place to help build our wonderful Munzee community. To this end events will be live for 24 hours from the chosen Go Live Time. This is quite different from the 7 days that we moved to during COVID times, but thankfully we are not living under the same social distancing restrictions any more.

We would like to incentivise hosts more, these are our key players in building the communities and we appreciate them so much. From January hosts will receive Munzee points relating to how many people attend their events. This will be 100 points for every capture of their Event Indicator pin. For example, with an event of 50 people the hosts will receive 5000 points.

Mega Events

We also want to help encourage some bigger Munzee events and will be introducing some Mega Munzee Monthly Event Packages. These will be perfect for big events that span a weekend because you’ll get 4 event packages with badges and icons and the price point will be lower than booking it all individually. There will be special badges available for these events and they will show differently on the calendar and map. We will be showcasing and supporting these events so please get in touch with Louise at events@munzee.com to discuss this if you’d like to host a Mega event.

A few events we’re already aware of: Munzee Mecca in Florida January 13-15. Not yet on the calendar is the long-running annual Munzee Madness in California each March, and the annual Munzee Mania in Minnesota each May. We know there is a growing community across the UK and would love to see something like this happen there. Will we see the large events in and around Germany back in 2023? What other areas of Europe, Asia and Australia are ready to add your name to the list of MEGA events in 2023?

Around ZEE World Bash Details!

As we hinted at earlier in the month, we’ve planned something very special for those who’ve hosted Monthly Events all the way from January through August! Continuing our theme of Player AppreZEEation, September will celebrate Event Hosts, who have gone to great effort to grow the game in their local communities.

It’s been a few years since we’ve hosted a bash of our own, so we’re helping our hosts celebrate events Around ZEE World! Stay tuned for fun announcements all month long as we travel by air, land, sea (or virtually) to celebrate our Hosts!

Our “Thank You” to Event Hosts

Planning and preparing for a single event is already a lot of work, even if you don’t expect many to attend. So we take our hats off to those who committed to hosting an event for 8 straight months so far!

This month, we’ve decided to show our AppreZEEation to Event Hosts who’ve hosted Monthly Events from January through August with the following freebies valued in excess of $100:

Event Host Lounge

The deploy circle for Event Host Lounge will be 500 feet (152.4 m) from the nearest Temporary Bouncer Destination. Capture radius is 1000 feet.

To access the Event Host Lounge, turn on your Virtual filter and find it under “Destinations”. If the Event Host Lounge is hosting munzees, it can also be visible with the “All Expiring Specials” filter.

Munzee Calendar Update

To help highlight the Special Monthly Events with the Bonus Add-On mentioned above on the Munzee Calendar, we’ve added a pulsing effect.

As before, Monthly Events will have the pink outline around them — so Special Monthly Events will have the pink outline with the pulsing effect. Regular Monthly Events will have the pink outline without the pulsing effect.

Traveling Team Badges!

Some of the team will be attending their local events this month! It’s been a while since we’ve made new traveling team badges, so we’ve put some together to sweeten your reunions!

National Scavenger Hunt Day Eventzee Hunt Winners!

On National Scavenger Hunt Day, we kicked off our second Eventzee hunt in the new app! The hunt ended as of the 31st, and we were happy to see around the same number of people participating as last time! As mentioned in our announcement for this hunt, this time we set most of the challenges to auto-approve so that you could see your fellow players’ submissions more quickly in the feed. We also did not receive ANY reports on inappropriate posts, so thank you all for keeping it family-friendly!

To give you the results in a timely manner, as promised, we reviewed ALL the submissions from the players that were in the top 10 on the leaderboard. If we found that a photo or video submission did not meet the requirements as stated in the challenge, we rejected it. This shifted the rankings a bit, causing some to go out of the top 10, in which case, we reviewed ALL the submissions for the new player that made it in, until the final top 10 consisted of players who’ve been thoroughly reviewed by us. So, without further ado, here are the winners:

Celebrate National Scavenger Hunt Day With Us!

Last year we hosted 3 Eventzee Hunts: the Couch Potato Party 2020 hunt, the QRantine 2020 hunt, and the MHQ Bash 2020 Event. While we enjoy putting them together, it does eat up a lot of resources, even for a fairly short hunt. However, as we were planning for this month, we knew it was about time to host one again! After all, there are still so many people who haven’t tried out the NEW Eventzee app!

Unlike the hunt we hosted for last year’s Bash from the Past, you’ll be able to access all the challenges once you join the event. In addition, we’ve set it up so that Photo and Video challenges will auto-approve, so you can see what others have submitted in the Feed much more quickly! We hope that this will help you feel more connected to the rest of our player community, and ask that you refrain from submitting anything that is not family-friendly.

If you do spot something in the Feed that is not family-friendly, you have the option to Report it. Tap on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of the post, tap [Report], and then tap [OK] to confirm. We will review any reports we receive periodically and take action as we see fit. You also have the option to Block the player in the same menu.

This event will be available until May 31 at 12:00 MHQ time. Per usual no screenshots will be accepted unless the clues ask for it. Just download the Eventzee app* and use the code “FTHUNT2021“ to access this special hunt. Or scan this QR code using the Eventzee app to join quickly!

You Are Cordially Invited to the 10th Annual Award ZEEson!

This year is our 10th birthday, and while we would have liked to pull out all the stops to celebrate, we still aren’t quite ready to host an in-person celebration. However, that doesn’t mean y’all can’t host your own safe, socially-distanced events! As this year is still an extra-special one for us, the theme we’ve decided on this year is Award ZEEson!

Event Package Overview

Get your events on the calendar (https://calendar.munzee.com/submit) and then choose from one of the following packages available in the Freeze Tag Online Store! Each has a unique host badge!

Gilded Guest – Basic event and no proximity restrictions – $30
Prized Presenter – The Gilded Guest plus 20 virtuals – $50
Notable Nominee – The Prized Presenter plus badge and icon (fully custom while time permits) – $150
Wonderful Winner – The Notable Nominee plus Eventzee (more info on that below!) and 50 EXCLUSIVE PaparaZEE Greeting Cards (similar to the March into May Event Greeting Cards) – $200

Birthday Box Garden Add-on – If you would like our themed Birthday Box Garden (similar to the March into May Events Tulip Gardens) to be deployed at your event location, this can be added onto any Birthday package. – $25

Emerald Prizes Add-on – If you would like your guests to receive a free Emerald garden pin, this can be added onto any Birthday package. – $25

This year’s 10-week birthday event period should hopefully align with an event you were already planning, or allow you the flexibility to schedule one if the idea just came to you! Birthday events can begin starting July 1st and run all the way to September 8th!

As always, there will be an Attendee Badge and plenty of extras! Get your events on the calendar, package requests in, and artwork suggestions in ASAP, especially if you’re hoping for merchandise, too. As our artists’ schedule starts to fill up, we will move to generic art options to avoid missing out on special event badges.

Return of Eventzee

As stated above, if you choose the Wonderful Winner Event Package, it will include an Eventzee Scavenger Hunt Party Pack! These new packs have all of the challenges created for you, so all you have to do is approve player submissions. Preserve your event for a lifetime with pictures and videos using the ALL NEW* Eventzee app!

Your Eventzee Add-On will include:

An Eventzee Party Pack with 20 challenges in a variety of different types.
Access to Social features for your hunt, including the photo stream and chat areas.
Players at your event will also be awarded an all NEW Eventzee badge for hosts and attendees posted to their Munzee accounts, as well as 500 Munzee points for each active player.

To set up your scavenger hunt the host will need to send their username and the email associated with their new Eventzee account to the Munzee Events Team. The host will then be made an admin of the Eventzee hunt and sent a code to the hunt beforehand along with the badge code.

*Please note that this package will require users to download the new Eventzee app and that these challenges will not count toward the previous Eventzee badges. Players will need to create a new Eventzee account if they have not already set one up in the new app.
