10/10 Means Time for 10 Pieces of Gameplay Advice!

It’s 10/10 today, which means no matter which part of the world you live in, we can all agree on the ordering of the date! And speaking of unity, we recently asked for players to send us their best gameplay tips via Facebook. After examining the many wonderful tips, we’re happy to compile 10 pieces of advice to help facilitate smooth gameplay for players who might be new to the game or are simply interested in hearing some friendly feedback!

The following advice has been compiled with the help of player feedback to assist in navigating all things Munzee. Enjoy!

1. Play it YOUR way. Munzee is all about playing exactly how you want to.

(Reart) – Play it your way. Don’t let anyone tell you you need to have so many points a day, be in a clan, do ZeeOps, or deploy lots of munzees. First get comfortable with capping and deploying a few (your free beginners pack) before you do all the other stuff. It will be less stressful.

2. Take advantage of the Munzee community. There are many player groups and resources eager to help you out.

(MetteS) – First 0f all: Have fun! 🙂 Second: Don’t be afraid to ask more experienced players for help and advice. Most of us don’t bite 😉 Events and Facebook groups are great for this.

3. Attend a Munzee Event. Connecting to players in real life is a wonderful element of the game that provides more than just special badges and extra points. Make new friends who share a similar interest and learn invaluable advice.

(mobility) – Go to an event and meet experienced Munzee players and feel free to ask them about their experience.

4. Think before you deploy. Consider the best spot to deploy your munzees.

(PelicanRouge) – If deploying locally, remember your munzee may attract specials which you will want to cap in the future. It is perhaps not the best idea to deploy your munzee underneath a bench in a very busy area, as you can guarantee someone will be sitting on it when you need to cap it! (Trust me, I’m speaking from experience ?). Think before you deploy!

5. Consider a Munzee strategy. While how you play is entirely up to you, a strategy will help facilitate future progress.

(gruenthaler) – Start with deploying Greenies in your homezone and reserve places for future specials between these Greenies for Elemental stickers (Fire, Water, Ice, Earth) and for other specials, you may get in the future. Try getting those badges that may be harder to earn as a player who gets a lot of capture on points (for example the Pi badge), and last but not least: capture and deploy at least one munzee a day. A munzee a day keeps the doctor away 🙂

6. Be prepared. Many players carry Munzee Toolkits with them to facilitate easy access to deploys and gameplay.

(Prmarks1391) – Buy a battery pack, it’ll make playing the game so much more fun and less frustrating when your phone goes flat. But also take a look at the badges you could earn. Get some of them out of the way before you purchase some of the bouncers that may be sold, because they’ll get harder to achieve when you own a player owned bouncing special.

7. Help keep the map clean. Many players are a part of ZeeQRew or QRew in order to help keep the map clean and fun for everyone.

(LVBuccsFan) – Log everything. Don’t feel ashamed if you didn’t find a munzee. Lots of munzees go missing. Logging a munzee you did not find helps clear the map for other players. I myself replace munzees that haven’t been found by a few others just to keep the map fresh.

8. Consider competitive gameplay. When you feel ready to flex your Munzee muscles, look into Clan Wars for competitive group gameplay or ZeeOps for personal competition.

(Aukush) – Get into Clan Wars as soon as you can. It’s easy to reach higher levels in Clan Wars when you haven’t already capped a huge part of the munzees in your city. From Clan Wars, you can get credits to build up your city and make it more appealing for visitors.

9. Grow the map by planning your travels. Consider how you can expand the map and earn big when you’re out of town. Along the way you’ll find an added element of adventure and exploration that will help you discover new places!

(Littlethrower) – My advice is if you’re going to be traveling use the Munzee website to see if there are available munzees in that area. Helps you to plan ahead if that is something you’re planning on doing while there ? or may even help you find a really cool place you wouldn’t have thought to check out!

10. Go at your own pace. In line with play it your way, don’t push yourself to master the game in a limited timeframe. Munzee is a multi-layered game that will take time, patience, and experience to learn. Consult the Help Guide to learn about new types, and enjoy the game every step of the way!

(Billykaren) – Take it slow! Read tips and tricks and any info you can gleam from Munzee and ask questions in the Facebook pages. Do not cap everything around you… save some for each day if you have limited deploys around you. Learn what and where to deploy your own to attract Mythologicals, Pouch Creatures, and more!

For more helpful tips and to stay in the loop with all things Munzee, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and check our our Tips & Tricks Help Guide! Thanks to all players who took the time to send us their tips! Munzee Toolkit MunzDay: food & thefoods

One of the best parts about Munzee is that you can play how you want. Everyone goes about playing a bit differently, and that leads to some very creative and innovative uses of objects. From containers to bags to maintenance, we always encounter something new when we meet players. We want to showcase your Munzee Toolkits to see how you play the game and possibly even inspire other players who may need help! This week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes from Munzee power couple food and thefoods!

This week’s featured Munzee Toolkit comes from food and thefoods. This couple has played Munzee together for years, each earning over 4 million points on their respective accounts! And judging by their Munzee Toolkit contents, the key to their shared success is always being prepared for any type of Munzee adventure!

Food & thefoods Toolkit

In the words of thefoods, the car is our toolkit… we have rigged it to have everything within reach.

Explanations left to right:

  • The tablet goes on this magnet for directions
  • Zees waiting to be used
  • There is a clip attached to keep cords untangled
  • The phone hangs here when not in use

The Munzee-fied car includes the following:

  • 2 magnetic phone holders— one for the tablet to use for directions (left of pic) and one for the scissors when we are playing
  • Clip securely holding cords to keep them from tangling
  • Fishing Box (see below) to keep everything sorted and together (labels make it a quick grab)
  • New munzee stickers waiting to be used being held in the clip with the cords
  • A hook attached to hold the phone when not being used
  • Unicorn attached to the charging cord— because we could 🙂

Here is a quick view of the main pieces we use on each trip:

Also included in Munzee travels is the fishing box with stickers. Pro Tip: Fishing boxes make great storage for munzees!

Share Your Kit!

If you have a Munzee Toolkit that you’d like to show off, you can email us at iloveyou@munzee.com with the subject “Munzee Toolkit.” Make sure to include:

  • Your username and where you are from.
  • A few high quality photos.
  • A list of what each item is and how you use it.
  • What made you decide to use those items.
  • Any other relevant details.

Please feel free to include as much information about your gameplay as you wish to share! We want to see your creativity and learn how you play, so show us what you’ve got! And for Munzee tips and tricks, you can always check out our Help Guide articles!

A big Munzee thank you to thefoods for sharing this Munzee Toolkit!

Unveiling the All New Clan Wars System Changes!

NOTE: There are currently Clans created for testing purposes listed on the leaderboard in the app. These test clans will be removed at 00:01 on 10/3/2019. Please do not join these clans as they will not be active for the next Clan War battle.

We’ve been hinting at our Clan Wars system update for a while, with the launch of our Beta testing, the revelation of new badges, and the unveiling of our new Clan Wars logo. But the day has finally arrived that our Clan Wars update is ready to officially launch! While there are many exciting changes to explore, we’d like to warn players that there is a lot to process. So before you feel overwhelmed, know that we have extensively mapped out all aspects of Clan Wars on our Help Guide for comprehensive reference!

These updates are all implemented to support our goal of making Clan Wars more accessible and flexible to a wider variety of players. Our aim is to create a Clan Wars experience that is in line with our Munzee mission to “Play Your Way!” These Clan Wars updates now make it easier for more players to join in on the fun and participate, while current Clan Wars players can still compete at their own pace.

That means that low level and elite clans alike both have the opportunity to reap the benefits of our updates, with the ability to earn all new badges and customize the way you play! Ready to get started?

Clan Wars Changes

In our mission to create a Clan Wars experience that our players can customize to suit their gameplay goals, clans with less than 10 members can now earn rewards in battle! This is one of our biggest gameplay changes that allows for a wider variety of clans to enter the battle and receive rewards. Requirements for smaller clans will be the same as 10 person clans, so smaller clans will need to do more work to complete each level.

Another significant change is that players can now join a clan at anytime during the battle. As  part of our newly updated system, all aspects of gameplay will move to mobile devices, and only the Clan Leaderboard will be available online. Though players can now join a clan at any time, players are still unable to leave a clan once the battle starts.

Any activity a player has done during the battle period will count towards the clan challenges once a player joins a clan, so any previous efforts were not in vain. However, if a player joins a clan that is at a higher level than they are, the clan will not be able to level up again until the new player has achieved all individual challenges to catch up.

Another exciting update is that rewards can now be collected immediately after your clan reaches the next level, instead of waiting until midnight for them to be sent. So, if a player joins a clan mid-battle, they will receive rewards for any levels achieved through their previous activity during the battle period. If the new player is at a lower level than their fellow clan mates, then the rest of the clan will still retain their rewards and simply have to wait for the newest clan member to catch up before leveling up.

In-App Updates

As we mentioned, the Clan Wars experience is now moving in-app, where clan members will have comprehensive access to the Clan Wars experience. This is an over-the-air update, meaning that players will not have to download any newer version of the app to gain access to the Clan Wars features. However, players might have to force quit and restart the app if they do not see the new Clan Wars features. It is also essential to make sure that you are playing on the latest version of the Munzee app.

The following features are now available in-app for Clan Wars in the new Clan Wars Hub:

The Roster Tab, which contains the following:

  • View total points for current clan battle across all members
  • Ability for clan leaders to manage their clan by editing the clan information, inviting players to join, approving/rejecting requests to join, promoting/demoting other members as leaders
  • Ability for clan leaders to edit the clan name, photo, tagline, level goal and privacy settings at anytime

The Challenges Tab, which contains the following:

  • Requirements and rewards displayed for each level of the clan battle
  • Progress is tracked and updated approximately every 10 minutes
  • View the entire clan’s progress on both individual and group challenges

The Clan Chat Tab, which contains the following:

  • The ability to coordinate with clan members using the new integrated clan chat area

The Leaderboard Tab, which contains the following:

  • See where your clan ranks against the top 100 clans

New Clan Settings

Another aspect on the in-app Clan Wars update is the new clan settings. Clans can now set a publicly visible goal to indicate what level their clan is aiming for each month. In general we believe there are two different types of clans:

  • Casual Clan – These clans may not have a specific level goal and may focus on just having fun, learning the game together and playing with family and friends
  • Level 1 to 5 – These clans are aiming for a specific level

Clans can also now choose a privacy level that will make their clan public, private, or hidden for those who are using the app to search for a clan they want to join. These different settings are as follows:

  • Public – Anyone can find and join your clan at anytime
  • Private – Anyone can find your clan, but can only request to join and must be approved by a clan leader from the Roster tab
  • Hidden – These clans will not appear in the search list, but clan leaders can still invite players to join from the Roster tab

When joining a clan, players can browse for clans to join using the app and can sort them by which level they are aiming for that month. They can use the search option to find specific clans by name or tagline or use the randomizer to browse through clans to join. If you want to recruit more local players to join your clan, putting the city/state/country in your tagline will help them find you when searching. For more information about this process, you can access our article for How to Join a Clan.

Additionally we have updated the Clan Leader System. Moving forward with the new system, the player who creates the clan will be assigned as the Leader. Leaders can then promote other members to help manage the clan. Note that anyone can be promoted to Leader, even players who don’t have a Premium Membership.

This also means that all existing clans have been transferred to the new system. Since the old system made any Premium Member an admin, and did not track when players joined, all current admins will be assigned as Leaders in the new system. Clans can then decide who to keep as leaders and demote the others to members.

New Badges & Clan Borders

In addition to these new updates, there is now the opportunity to earn badges for achieving certain ranks on the Clan Leaderboard. As we revealed in our October 2019 Clan Requirements blog, there are also badges you can earn each month for every level you reach with your clan. Additionally, new themed borders will now appear around your clan image, with a number of stars to indicate and show off the current level of your clan. They appear as follows:

Help Guide Access

Once again, we know that these updates might seem overwhelming at first, but our new Clan Wars section of the Help Guide contains comprehensive information expanding upon each aspect of Clan Wars gameplay. In the Help Guide, you can access articles on Clan Wars FAQs, Intro to Clan Wars, How to Join a Clan, How to Complete Challenges, How to Create a Clan, How to Manage Your Clan, and Clan Wars Hub.

Welcome to a brand new era of Clan Wars! We’re excited to see a wider variety of clans compete, and as always, feel free to play YOUR way!
