📍🌏 MaddyBee Memorial BVG 🐝💛

Today, we come together as a community for a reason that is both heartbreaking and deeply important.

We are honoring Matilda, known in Munzee as MaddyBee, a young player who had just begun her Munzee journey alongside her father, BigMonya, about 100 days ago. What started as a fun way to walk, explore, and spend time together quickly became something meaningful. Shared moments, fresh air, and memories made side by side.

Tragically, Matilda was one of the innocent lives lost in the recent and devastating attack at Bondi Beach in Australia. She was only 10 years old and far too young. Her loss has been felt deeply by her family and by all of us who have heard her story.

The Munzee community is built on connection, kindness, and shared experiences, and we want to honor Matilda in a way that reflects those values.

🐝 A Bee Bouncing Virtual Garden for MaddyBee

With her family’s blessing, we are releasing a special MaddyBee Bouncing Virtual Garden in loving memory of Matilda. This BVG exists for one purpose. To memorialize Matilda and to bring the Munzee community together in support of her family. This Bee BVG will bounce for 10 weeks, in honor of Matilda being 10 years old. All proceeds from this Bouncing Virtual Garden will be donated directly to Matilda’s GoFundMe, and Munzee will match the total donation contributed by the community.

Purchases are limited to 1 BVG Pin per player. As with all BVGs, the garden must be filled before it can begin bouncing. Any remaining spots will be filled by staff to ensure this memorial garden is able to begin.

🌍 A Permanent Place to Remember Her

After the 10 week bouncing period concludes, the MaddyBee BVG will land and become a permanent Virtual Garden within Munzee. It will be a place that can be visited at any time as a lasting memorial to Matilda. The final location of this garden will be chosen with her family. This will ensure it is somewhere meaningful to them, whether near Bondi Beach or another special place. This permanent garden will stand as a quiet reminder of Matilda’s light and the love shared through Munzee.
